Would you buy an unlicensed TSB game?
JeanChretien replied to Pricetag's topic in Tecmo Super Bowl - NES
I probably wouldn't...sorry. . Tecmo attracted me largely because it was one of the first to have player names. Madden only had numbers way back when. -
anyone else ever had 1,000 yards rushing with bo in 1 game?
JeanChretien replied to Kimrari's topic in Tecmo Super Bowl - NES
Wow, that analysis of run times reminds me waaaay too much of CSE431 (Algorithms analysis). I hate that class...so...hard. -
Jim Kelly's career ended similarly. We (Buffalo) were playing Miami and they called grounding when Buffalo was on like the 3 and Kelly threw it out the back of the endzone (close call, but I wouldn't have called it). Next play, being forced to pass, Kelly throws a pick returned for a TD (B.Marion maybe? Not sure who). Since then, the fans turned on him and started pushing for a QB change. Bah, now I'm bitter (remembers Henry Jones pass interference on a hail mary, the no goal, homerun throwback, mark ingram on 3rd and 13 winning Superbowl XXV, etc...)

They should've looked a little historical perspective for things like ball control, but I guess they wanted to accurately recreate the season as it happened. White lost 8 fumbles, but damn, 19 BC?

Someone just uploaded me the 1992 Bills Oilers playoff game (it was blacked out in Buffalo for some reason - and I didn't get into football/tape NFL Primetime until 1993). So, I'm watching the first half, and they say Lo White didn't lose a single fumble in 1992. Wow. edit: I'm not sure if it was "lost fumbles" or "fumbles", and I'm too lazy to check right now.

Well, they did get to a superbowl so there's no complaints. That was a pretty sweet year.

Tecmo player who got screwed the worst?
JeanChretien replied to TecmoTimes's topic in Tecmo Super Bowl - NES
Ranatoro - I don't suppose you could get me a digital vid of that 1990 NFC Championship game, could you? I've heard it was one of the greatest ever, but it was before I got into pro-football. -
I think the broncos are easy to stop because of their playbook. I love being matched up against them.

I always crawl back to it every six months or so, but 2 things "reincarnated" it big time in the past year. 1. Online leagues 2. My desire to compile stats for a season with every team - this took FOREVER and I almost got so sick of overplaying and getting carpal tunnel (sp?) that I almost quit all my online leagues. Now, I'm back to normal - 1 league and vs comp every 2-3 months

Ok, I have never unlocked the all time greats, and it's starting to piss me off. I just simmed the seasons on emulator and won it 3 times in a row with the vikings. Notabilities: Superbowl is 3 min quarters (does it have to be 5?) I did "official season mode" for all 3. However, back when I rented the game, I think I also tried it in Trade mode. Right after winning the third superbowl, I went to season-> new trade based season and started a trade based season. No all time greats. Any thoughts? Is there a special ending when you win it for the 3rd time, or does it still say "try to 3peat"? edit: I guess you have to be in Trade mode - finally did it - whew!

Which makes for a more dangerous offense?
JeanChretien replied to moonwalk's topic in Tecmo Super Bowl - NES
QB Browns is like the QB Eagles of the AFC. No one can stop him. Pull a Ditka and trade all your tecmo draft picks for Kosar/Browns. He can be THE running game. ok, it's only 11:30, but it's obvious I need sleep. I say get a quality back (assuming it's an upper-eshelon one with a max speed >= 56) -
As I have my stat season for TSB (NES) I wondered over to the SNES realm. I downloaded the Final Edition Rom which I had rented numerous times and enjoyed (partially because of the great opening theme music ) - but recently read reviews about the non-final edition version. Anyway, these reviews said TSB (non-final edition) "plays" more like the NES version. Does anyone feel this one is better? I would play that one if the stats would be more comparable to the NES version, otherwise I'm partial to the 3 minute quarters of TSBIII (playing a season wiht every team takes WAY too long otherwise). So...my main questions: 1. Final or non final edition? 2. How come in the SNES version, if I have 2 save states, it changes the schedule in both? For example, I sim week 1, save state in slot 0. I then sim week 2 and save in slot 1. When I load slot 0, it's the end of week 2. Can anyone explain this? I like to have a backup slot since I often accidently save over seasons. I tried deleting the SRM file, but then when I load the save state - it's back at week 1. What the heck is going on? I'm using ZSNES v1.31B (for windows). I have not yet tried a different emulator. Should I do that? Thanks, Rob

Spring and Summer Frequency of play
JeanChretien replied to Tecmo Bold's topic in Tecmo Super Bowl - NES
I haven't played in a while - I need a break - 2 fucking years to finish my stats for every team - that was WORK! (See other thread if interested in how the teams stacked up) -
So, do you guys think Jim Everette should be in the pro bowl over Montana (by my numbers)? A couple of my friends think so and there's some controversey. I picked montana due to the much higher yards per attempt, but everette had a slightly better TD-Int ratio. By picking Montana, I would have to tweak my personal "QB rating" system (that's explained on the sheets) to value yards per attempt more, and that would require effort However, I think yards per attempt is a good indicator of the QB that can make plays and shoudl be important too. So, which one? Montana or Everette?
