  1. Here is my 2012 Rose Bowl game. It has all of my usual hacks and this version features a two-tone field and new endzones. Features: 2011 Rosters (race and numbers are not accurate) 2011 Schedules New Field New Endzones 12 Pac-12 Teams 12 Big-Ten Teams Notre Dame Big Ten Championship Game Pac 12 Championship Game 2012 Rose Bowl Here are some screenshots: If anyone has an interest I can upload a version with a normal field. Let me know. Please let me know what you think of this. Thanks to Buck for a friendly nudge in the right direction with the field. Crosebowl2012twotone2.nes Crosebowl2012twotone.nes
  2. Speaking of glitches I just saw one today. I fumbled the ball, one of my players recovered it and then just slid backwards "like he was on a conveyor belt" without his legs moving for 8 yards into the end zone for a touchdown.
  3. "Batman: The Dark Knight joins the Raiders"
  4. Rom is nearing completion. Here are some more screen shots of the graphical updates. Game being shown is Northwestern vs. California. Completed Midfield Logo Left End Zone (thanks to buck for his help in finding the code for the field) Right End Zone Team Select Screen
  5. Yes it is last year's teams. If this is a successful rom maybe I will update with this year's teams at the end of the regular season. Or maybe a 1970's or 1980's version. Another idea I had was to have a version from the 1991 season a "What if Tecmo made a college rom the same year they made TSB for NES verson?" The Division II Cupcakes are the worst team I have ever created.
  6. Completely Agree On my roms running back MS is based on yards gained during the season.
  7. Maybe it's from a 1970's Retro Rom!
  8. We are playing TSB in all the new roms with a 1980's style scoreboard. I have come up with a modern version (idea) and wonder if anyone has the skill / know how to make it happen.
  9. An update: I have figured out how to eliminate the cheerleaders, but you can't just black them out or else you just end up with big black or white squares depending on what color you use to black them out. You have to go into the code that draws the field and swap out the cheerleader tiles and swap in the cheerleaderless (hey new word!) tiles. A thought: The game uses the team colors with the players on the field. Is there any way to make the game automatically use the team colors from the "home" team to color the crowd and cheerleaders. That would be cool.
  10. to carther and yes this is off topic. are you going to continue making further tecmo super bowl roms of the past like the first four? are you going to continue making tsb 1970-2012? as well as making them from 1995-1999 to add in only 30 teams and maybe add 2 teams with free agents on them if it isn't possible to have the rom only with 30 teams? Currently, I am doing a 2011-12 Rose Bowl college Rom with all 24 of the Big Ten and Pac Ten teams and Notre Dame. I am currently learning a lot more about the graphical portion of the game and the 2011-12 Rose Bowl Game will have new endzone designs and maybe some more surprises if I can figure them out. After that if I am not burned out from making 5 roms in so short a period of time, I was thinking of moving on to the next era of NFL from 1970-1976 when there were only 1 wild card team per conference, that would include the Dolphins Dynasty along with the first half of the Steelers four Super Bowl Victories ending in 1976 with the Raiders finally winning. I loved that era with about 8 consistantly dominant teams NFC - Rams, Vikings, Cowboys, Redskins/49'ers and AFC- Dolphins, Steelers, Raiders. Have you been playing the others much? I haven't recieved much feedback at all but have seen they have been getting downloaded.
  11. How do I get rid of the sideline cheerleaders in TSB? Any help would be appreciated. I know someone had added more cheerleaders before but haven't been able to find anything about it.
  12. Offense is on the field when you punt. Doubt it can be changed to D. I am pretty sure it can be changed to Defense, the question is can anyone here do it. I believe it would not be too hard. When you call a punt the punter is inserted for the quarterback I believe. You would need to instert defensive players for the rest of the skill players. When the possession officially changes the defense is inserted. There are two questions: 1. Is it too hard to do. 2. Would inserting the defensive secondary and a linebacker or two, help fix punt returns. I am sure, buck, brudog, jstout or cxrom would know about the feasability.
  13. So the offensive team does punt coverage. Is there any way to make it so that the defensive team will cover punts instead? Who covers kickoffs offense or defense?
  14. Buck, thanks for the response, I figured it out and found the area for the field and enzones.
  15. 2. Not sure this is a great improvement. It's pretty easy to get pretty much max power all the time. Unless you made it so that it was extra sensitive at the end of the bar. Sort of a power or exponential weighting. You could make it so that the more power you used the less accurate the kick was. One thing I cant stand is how much of the game clock a kick return or punt return takes up. Literally it takes up almost 20% of a quarter to return a kick for a TD. I've toyed with the idea of further boosting of all the speeds but it would require a lot of testing. The Tecmo Street level of speed is about what I'm thinking for Kick and punt returns. so that returns are over quick. I would think the way to go with the kickoff return would be to have the clock slow down instead of having the players speed up. 3. The punt return game needs MUCH more work than the punting aspect. Much like interception returns its almost impossible to return a punt for a TD vs an army of 69rp defenders. Not sure if I've ever returned one in an original rom game unless it was botched. Maybe once with Cincy and their 69ms punt return game. But punting is pretty rare given the limited number of possessions and average gain per play so it doesnt really matter that much. On an actual punt return if you make it past the first 2 or 3 cover guys you go pretty far. Is there anyway to have the 69ms boost last for only a limited time, for example the coverage team has a speed of 69ms for 5 seconds and then reverts back to their normal ms?
  16. the field and endzones are just 4x4 squares, pointing to tiles, and the funny thing is that the endzones are actually two alternating layers (did no one notice the endzones flashing "tsb" in the TSB Street ROM??? whatthefunk!) Yeah with the two levels you could do some cool stuff like have a cheerleader shaking her booty LOL. I wonder what the actual purpose of the two levels was? I have seen no differences between them when I have checked them out. I have edited the endzones one time to make a checkerboard pattern. So the field and endzones are 4x4 (4 tiles by 4 tiles) just like the midfield logo has a central 4x4 square where you can rearrange the tiles to edit out mirrored tiles? I did this for my Rose Bowl Mid Field Logo. If it is the same then it is just a matter of searching in the game code for the right combo of tiles then? I;ve mapped the field out by hand (that's how I tweaked the endzone and the bottom of the field in the TSB Street ROM). Maybe someday I will have time to put something together, there are a shipload of locations. I could, however, without too much hassle, alter the sidelines of the field for you. But endzones/midfield are something that require a much planning and coordination - on the code side and the tile side. I would love to be able to do that (alter the tiles just outside the field) for my Rose Bowl Rom. If you have seen the way they paint the actual RoseBowl field you know what I mean. I would appreciate you doing it for me, but I would also like to learn how to do it myself at some point.
  17. Any Graphical whizzes out there? There are two things I would like to be able to do but have not been able to find the locations for. 1. Change the tiles just outside of the field of play so that I could put a wide stripe around the field like they do at the rosebowl. 2. Change the arrangement of the tiles in the endzone to allow for graphical enhancements like changing the midfield logo. Someone made an enzone editor so, the locations must be known. My problems with the editor. The font sucks!!! The color selections are limited. Where are those locations? I have searched the forums to no avail for these locations.
  18. a quick note on "touchback hack", have you noticed that when you run out of the endzone, if you run back into the endzone you will still get the touchback? Yeah, but I think it is worth it to have the touchback, but if a Man opponent did that it would be really lame of them. I would also like to see kickoffs go out of the back of the endzone with full power. This is possible now if you just bump up the max kick distance. It is one of the problems I was originally having with my 1960's roms. I moved the kickoff to the 40 and max kickoffs were going out of the endzone and triggering a safety. I have thought about putting this hack into my roms, but had 1 reason not to. If you scored at the end of the game with just a few seconds left and then kicked a kickoff out of the endzone all of the time would run off of the clock because the clock starts when the ball is kicked. If the clock could be changed to start when the kick was recieved I would put this hack into all of my games.
  19. We have a lot of hacks to the offense and defense to make them more dynamic and in some ways more realistic but Special Teams has been neglected. I have been thinking about a lot of things as I have completed my 5 new roms this summer and here is what I have come up with in ideas for future enhancements. SPECIAL TEAMS IDEAS 1. Kickoff Length Partially based on KA of kicker. With the new Touchback on Kickoffs hack it would seem it would not be too hard to use the KA to help determine kickoff length. High powered kickers (Sebastian Janikowski) could boom kicks out of the enzone for touchbacks while weak kickers (Jason Hanson) would have a hard time making it to the goal line. 2. Field Goals using power bar. In the original Tecmo Bowl Field Goals used the power bar. I liked this much better. The longer the field goal the easier it was to block. AKB could be used for accuracy where a certain percentage of kicks based on AKB would go wide. 3. Punts use moving arrow thingy. Use the moving arrow on punts instead of field goals. This would allow the punts to be angled, maybe AKB could be to allow for a random distance range based on rating. 3a. Allow punts to be angled out of bounds. 3b. Use one of the A B buttons to be able to call a fair catch on a punt. 4. Make onside kick recovery based on the actual nfl recovery rate of @ 15%. When kicked a random number of some sort wouild be generated with 15% of results making it so that the first kicking team player to touch the ball would recover, while 85% of the results would make it so that the 1st receiving team player to touch the ball would recover. Any comments/discussion/ridicule on the feasability or desirabilty of any of these ideas will be greatly encouraged and appreciated.

  21. I finally downloaded and tried this .... very weird starting with the kickoff. On my first possession I actually punted on 4th down and the returner fumbled and I picked up the ball and scored. This is great effort! What made you start with a kickoff of all things? Was it just not possible to start any other way? Does this effect sim games at all? I am interested in this idea for college rom, and wondered if the following were possible. 1. Have a team start 1st and goal from the DEF 25 yard line. 4 downs to score and then the other team gets a shot. 2. Give a team the ball at the DEF 30 yardline 1-10 with x number of seconds to score. (maybe 45 seconds) Then the other team gets a shot. 3. Eliminate overtime in the regular season. Game just ends in a tie. 4. Play a whole fifth quarter like a normal quarter, if still a tie a sixth quarter, etc until a quarter does not end in a tie. Just wonderings, from a guy who could in no way even attempt this.
  22. I am uploading some screenshots of my 2012 Rosebowl rom that I am nearly done with. A few more graphical enhancements and it will be done. I have no idea how to post the screenshots so I hope this work. You may have to click on them to see thim. Anyways, the game is the 2011 Big Ten and Pac Ten seasons with the winners of the Big Ten Championship Game and the Pac Ten Championship Game meeting in the Rose Bowl. All 12 PAC-12 Teams and all 12 Big Ten Teams are included along with Notre Dame since they played Stanford, USC, Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue last year. There are three teams that almost everyone plays as non-conference games. BCS Team - Represents all top 25 type college teams. So when Oregon played LSU will be represented with Oregon vs. BCS. D-one Non AQ - represents average to below average Division one teams, this would be your MAC, WAC, Sun Belt, Duke, BYU etc. Division iI - represents really poor division one teams as well as FCS and Division II teams. Screenshots: Michigan.bmp - is the obligatory Midfield Logo Kickoff shot with Brendan Gibbons of Michigan kicking off to the hated Buckeyes. Oregon.bmp - is a picture of Oregon threatening to go up early on USC after a long Kickoff Return. Darron Thomas is under center. Nebraska.bmp - is a picture of Knobbe's mighty Nebraska Cornhuskers led by Taylor Martinez getting ready to face the Division II Cupcakes in the season opener. have a good time padding your stats. I hope this worked and the Rom will be uploaded soon. Carther
  23. Just had the same problems. But read up on the following and in one weekend figured out how to do 28 college helmets. This info is listed in the first post of the TECMO HACKING thread. Happy reading.
