  1. Here is the issue. What if--for example a player picks first and they select the jets and the other player has used every team in that tier and the one below it--what happens? I feel that is possible so I think a plan is needed. Also-- now that we're getting and idea of how many people will be there--what is the projection for the tourney length? I think it's going to be a LOT longer than the original projects set out since we'll be playing so many games and there probably wont be an equitable amount of TVs to players. I have a copy of Tecmo for the NES I can bring as well!
  2. What style of tourney will this be? Is there a list of rules for the tourney and what teams we will use? Any info would be appreciated
  3. Wait a minute... are you saying that you don't average 15-20 yards a carry in the NES version runnning the ball? I think the NES version, as great as it is, is much easier... though I think BOTH versions are pretty easy when you get down to it.
  4. interesting... there is interest out there. I'm in talks with my Tecmo cohorts in the area and I'll see what I can drum up We'd probably have 7 people in this area that would play... but I'm not going to start a new thread until I work out all the details.
  5. Fastest thumb only applies to Tecmo Superbowl for Nintendo since thumb speed made less of an impact as the games changed. If any of you guys are in the Philly area and would like to get in on the NFTGL or just want to get together to play one weekend, let me know--I used to play all Tecmo Superbowls games but now its limited to the first one for NES and Final Edition for SNES. Let's get it on...
  6. I would love to play but I don't play online tecmo's. I find them to be far inferior from what I've played. I would love to play against some other players in the are though if anyone is in the Philly area!
  7. Woodson is best overall cover player in Tecmo III, no contest. I rate him higher than all. His returning skills are also excellent... since unlike Deion he can break tackles Fear Rod
  8. Me and my friends have created what we term NFTGL which stands for the "The No Frills Tough Guy League" or for short, "The Man League." This league was created to foster man v man games that are low scoring and competitive as well as leaving certain players out of the playoffs all together... making each game you play count. I'm curious to know what the most strigent rules you've ever placed on yourself when playing Tecmo? Do you have any specific rules you must abide by to play? We have a few basic ones I'll list to give you an idea how we play: -3 minute quarters (does anyone actually play longer?) -Random team selection (we all have to play in the same conference and we tried to ahve the teams divided evenly between two divsions as there are only 7 of us) -Not allowed to change your playbook -Not allowed to play players out of position (though in the secon season, we will be adding exceptions to the rule... such as Eric Metcalf) -Not allowed to use the up/down dodge technique more than once on offense. This applies when you get into the open field. You can cut down once and than cut up and thats it. This does not apply to INT/FMBL or kick returns. -In a man vs comp game, no field goals and no punts. (you can do both of these in a man v man game) -We have created a spread sheet for all players rankings. Each positions stats are rated on a base scale of 1-10 (though some positions have higher numbers, such as OL has a 20 in HP). Once the players have been reranked on our scale system (called The Man System), we have instituted the 200 point trading system whereby, you cannot trade for any player in the league. You can only trade for a player that is 200 points better than you. It's complicated and we have a spreadsheet, as I said, breaking down every single players stats in the entire game to make it easier. This makes trading more realistic and helps to avoid the auto trades that Tecmo allows to go through sometimes (Bryce Paup, Rod Woodson, are two easy trades...). our specific system has made Steve Young ungettable in any trade and since SF is an outlawed team (them and Dallas) you would have to hope the computer would cut him to sign him. -Players that do not win a man v man game in the season will have their picture taken wearing whatever we want them too and will be placed on the wall of shame. They will also have to have their picture placed on their myspace account for a months time. There are a few other small things that I might be blanking out on right now, but thats the jist. What do you all think? Anyone else do things like this to keep the game more realistic and manly?
  9. This is my first post on this message board as I just discovered it but I plan to post more as the days go by. We have done some basic study on this matter and believe a combination of coolness and avoid the rush affect whether what my group of friends and myself call the "b button glitch" comes into play. I'm not sure if you've run into this problem before, but if you haven't let me tell you about it. The "b button glitch" only seems to pop up when the pressure is on and you need to throw the ball to your already selected target. You hit the B button to throw and nothing happen. You than begin to hit the B button franticlly hoping to throw the ball but, in the end, you're on your back and cursing as your friend laughs at you. What do you all think?
