  1. If you were creating a new Original TB ROM how would you assign player attributes? In my previous ROM releases (TB 1984, TB 1989, TB 80 Super Bowl Winners) I used pretty much the same formula. On offense; I stayed within the parameters of the original game as to not create an unbalance.(i.e. Best running back attributes in my ROMS were the equivalent of Bo Jackson's attributes, or best WR were equivalent to Jerry Rice of the original.) QB: Ranked QB's on Yards, Completion %, Interceptions, quarterback rating, then took an average of where they ranked in those categories and came up with a final ranking which determined their Receivers special attribute which determines the QB's Arm strength. (i.e. In my 1984 ROM Dan Marino ranked #1 so his receivers were given a special rating of 14 which is tops in the game.) ALL PRO QB was given a boost in Arm strength as were PRO BOWL QB's. RB: Ranked RB's on Yards, Average per carry, TD's and receptions in my 1984 and 1989 ROMs. In my TB 80 Super Bowl Winners ROM I used Yards rushing & Receiving per game (combined), Average per carry, Receptions, TD's took an average with more weight on yards combined per game and ranked them accordingly. ALL PRO RB's got a boost in RS And RP. PRO BOWL Players got a boost in either RS or RP but not both. WR & TE: Ranked these positions separately but on the same categories Catches, Yards, Yards per catch and TD's. Took an average, ranked accordingly, With ALL PRO's getting a boost in RP & RS and PRO BOWL players getting a boost in one or the other. In my TB 80 Super Bowl Winners ROM I used Receptions as a way to differentiate the receivers special attribute that controls QB arm strength.(i.e. John Taylor 60 receptions in 1989 with # 1 ranked QB got a 14 special attribute, but John Taylor with 14 receptions in 1988 with 88 Montana ranked lower only had an 11 special attribute.) Offensive line: ALL PRO lineman got 90 or more HP and a bump in RS and RP. PRO BOWL lineman were given 80-89 HPand got a bump in RS. Other linemen were given 56 HP across the board. Kickers: ranked them on FG's made and percentage made averaged them then ranked them accordingly. ALL PRO got two bumps in kicking power PRO BOWL kickers got one bump. Punters: ranked them on # of punts (lower the better) and Avg per kick, averaged them and ranked. ALL PRO got two bumps in kicking power PRO BOWL punters got one bump. Defense: Basically used same formula for all three ROMS, except in TB 80 Super Bowl Winners I used "Best 9" theory. "Best 9" basically used DB's at outside linebacker if the teams strength was more geared that way. (i.e. 1984 SF sent all 4 DB's to the PRO BOWL, so instead of choosing which of the two I was going to keep out like I did in the 1984 ROM I used the outside linebacker spots for the CB's (Lott and Wright) and the two safety positions for the safeties ( Hicks and Williamson). I used the Two inside linebackers as the LB set putting the two best linebackers there regardless of position. A team like New York with Banks, Carson an LT wouldn't use an alignment like that. Defensive line: ALL PRO Players were given 16 MS 2 RS and 7 RP. PRO BOWL players were given 16 MS 1 RS and 8 RP. All other D-lineman were ranked on sacks and int's and given ratings between 15 MS 1 RS 9 RP & 12 MS 0 RS and 9 RP. Linebacker: ALL PRO Players were given 17 MS 3 RS and 7 RP. PRO BOWL players were given 16 MS 2 RS and 8 RP. All other Linebackers were ranked on sacks and int's and given ratings between 15MS 1 RS 9 RP & 13 MS 0 RS and 9 RP. Defensive Backs: ALL PRO Players were given 18 MS 3 RS and 7 RP. PRO BOWL players were given 17 MS 2 RS and 8 RP. All other Defensive backs were ranked on sacks and int's and given ratings between 16 MS 1 RS 9 RP & 14 MS 0 RS and 9 RP. Some boosts were given to Hall of fame players who didn't have great #'s that year.
