  1. No, that stuff is all at the Lincoln tourney in January. But still come to this one!
  2. Can you post a list of the entrants when you get a chance? I need to start watching film.
  3. Yes, all you Iowans should come west. I sent Dorsey a text to hopefully post who all is signed up so far. It's sneaking up on us fast.
  4. See why I'm confused! Good to know, thanks!
  5. Does it matter at all on kickoff / punt returns? Or is it a set level for all returners? I've never gotten a straight answer on this one. Brud / Knobbe, you guys know? I just assume you know all this stuff. Thanks!
  6. I'm gonna try to make it too. Thank god there's booze at this one!
  7. Don't let their petty crap keep you from coming to a live tourney man, I've been to 7 or 8 and have never not had an awesome time. 99.9% of all people there are cool as hell and it's nice to meet online rivals/buds in person. It's like you've known them for years! I'll buy you a beer in Madison if you come.
  8. I was going to post about the tourney when I got back that night but kind of spaced it, sorry. This was a "for profit" style deal for the guy's game store. I'm not a fan of these types of tourneys generally but I thought it was ok for the most part. Ben and Paul who ran it were good guys and pretty good players too actually. It would have been nice to pay out all the cash like most of these tourneys do, but we did use (mostly) all of his equipment so I'm not too butt hurt about it. Just a guy trying to get his new store's name out there, I can't blame him for that. The payouts were posted before the tourney so it's not like he sprung it on us. It was a little cramped, but not terrible, the AC worked good. He had some pretty cool classic arcade games in there too, Xmen, Turtles in Time, NBA Jam, Simpson, etc. I was just happy there was an Omaha tourney to play in finally to be honest, sounds like Steve D. is going to try and get one together in November at the VFW but the date isn't confirmed yet. I'm assuming that one will be the normal drunken/pay all the money out style most of us prefer. I played Luke(Art) tough (lost by 7) in the final 4, but he's hard enough to beat when he's not in his hometown.
  9. Ok thanks, just checking. Still doing round robin then single elim? Just wondering so I can give my wife an ETA for return that day.
  10. Not sure, I was just talking about the cold. It was snowing when we left last time and the roads were kind of shitty until we got south of Ames.
  11. We stayed at a Days Inn or something last year that was just down the street. It wasn't horrible...it's all a little hazy though. Probably too far to walk if I remember correctly, the McDonald's girl might keep your change even if you don't tell her too though. FYI
  12. Sounds good man, should be a good time! And there's only 1 QB of the Bills in my book and that is of course QB Bills.
  13. I believe I'm signed up, Luke told me he signed me up anyway. (Travis R.) Sorry, but I don't facebook. I'm glad someone finally decided to have one in Omaha. Let's make some Iowans finally drive over here for once. Looking forward to it! PS- What's the alcohol policy? Asking for a friend...
  14. Somehow I forgot to mention the crazy "tipped JJ, INT" that happened during group play. I can't remember who was playing, but there were about 4-5 of us watching when it happened. It was a MIN/WAS game, player 2 was WAS and threw the pass from Rypien to Kelvin Bryant on a Pass 2 play (single back where RB 2 does a fly route). So Rypien heaves it about 25 yards down field and Bryant goes up for the JJ catch....but he drops the JJ and tips it right to the waiting arms of Joey Browner who was standing about 8-10 yards farther down field. Browner's positioning was a little bit lower on the screen and the ball was still spiraling when he caught it and it was like he was a black hole sucking it in. Has Bruddog or anyone figured out how/why these happen? It was like seeing BigFoot, but nobody caught it on camera. This supposedly happened at the Waterloo tourney last December too, but I didn't get to see that one. I just heard the reaction from everybody who did and if I recall correctly, it was Rod Woodson who caught that one. So maybe it has to be a super high INT player?
  15. This was a good tourney and a fun time. Jeremy won and I only got to watch one of his games (Final) unfortunately. He didn't lose a game all day! I made the trek from Lincoln with Craig, Travis B, and Steve. 3 of us had byes, but were unable to capitalize as we all wound up down in the loser's bracket after only a few rounds. I was very impressed with the number of good players here for a 24 man tourney. 8-bit & Steve M(Madison alums) are both very solid and I luckily avoided both of them, but I still had my hands full all day. After losing my 2nd round game to Kris K, I had to beat 4 guys who have been to the Madison tourney before (JJ, Kevin D, Ira, Kris K) along with my new rival Craig (he won Harlan and got 2nd in Lincoln this year). All that just to get to face Gridiron (Pete) in what was basically the 3rd place game. 3rd Place Game: Grid(SD) v Moulds (MIA) No scoring at all until the 4th qtr as both defenses were tough. I punted more times in the 1st half than I had all day long. I managed to finally get on the board mid 4th qtr with a Marino/Duper quick pass, but Grid got a nice JJ TD from Vlasic to Anthony Miller with only 20 seconds left to tie it up. I won the toss in OT and was barely inside FG range but on 3rd down I scrambled with Marino trying to make it a shorter kick and he fumbled right against the sideline before I could get OB. The ball of course bounces back in the field and now I'm madder than Ray Finkle's mom. #DieDan Next time I'll kick on 3rd down. Marion Butts was able to score a few plays later and Pete prevailed in what was a very good game. This loss hurt, I really wanted a crack at Tony/Jeremy. I was finally starting to play decent but not getting out of bounds was inexcusable there. Tony (dotdon) had a good day finishing 2nd, but was unable to capitalize in the red zone against Jeremy and his tough SEA defense as NE goes down in the final. I'll let Jeremy or Tony recap that one for you, it wasn't pretty but that's how all NE/SEA games go it seems. It was worth the 3 hour drive out there and I'll be back next year. Thanks to Jeremy and Justin for running it!
  16. KC WASH ATL NYJ PHX CHI CLE Cincy MIA SD DEN Most of these are pretty good ones, IMO. A lot of them I'd be ok with either team. Never seen a PITT/CLE matchup, but it makes sense...offense vs defense. I'd lean CLE but man that's a tough one. I probably won't score much vs PITT, but I can't score AT ALL with PITT. I'll roll with Bernie.
  17. I would agree with Kweh, that top WR slot is RB2 for this rule's purpose I would assume. Better ask at the rules meeting tomorrow though. They must really not want Brad Muster at TE, which is a bummer. Seems like a weird rule and I'll totally blame that when I flame out 0-3.
  18. Group D doesn't look very fun to me, but maybe it's just because Reg & Bailey always beat my ass. In all honesty though, they seem to be pretty fair as far as splitting up the elite guys.
  19. Ok, you need to get on Twitter so I can harass you and what not. I promised my wife this is my last Tecmo tourney trip until 12/14/13! Then it is on like Donkey Kong! #Wyman&Tonic
  20. TBK, if you make it out, I'll bring all the Phillies Blunts you can smoke! lol
