We will have a healthy set of TV's/Consoles/Controllers/Cartridges setup for this event (7-8). However, every set we add will speed up this event by 20 min.
So if any of our guests care to bring their set, we'd gladly accept it.
I'll bring my tub of gear to have just in case.

I registered and have a hotel booked.

One of the things we've discussed in the past and might have time for this upcoming Tecmo Madison is an 'Ask an Expert' desk. This is stolen straight from Evo - which most people know I adore as a tournament - where they have what was jokingly called Wizard Advice where you could ask a Street Fighter expert some tips on matchup selection. It is almost never used now because the tier lists at the various fighting game specific websites are universal enough, but for years it was at least a resource for the noob at a tournament with a few thousand competitors. Essentially, a noob could page the front desk and someone could come over to render advice if necessary.
I doubt it would be used much, but having it there would assist some of the newer players in difficult decisions.
I tend to offer up advice to any new people in my group. If a little advice can improve their experience and make them want to return I'm all for it.

If the goal is to avoid extreme blowouts, then use a World Cup style seeding system where group winners play group runners up in a prearranged bracket. Then cap point diff at 28 or 21. The goal then changes from needing to go 3-0 in group play with a massive point diff to just getting to 3-0 with every point above a 21 point lead reduced to a 0.
This still allows for creative matchups, still allows underdogs to choose a matchup that they think works for them, and reduces the need to lay a 70 spot on a kid to move up by 1 spot on the bracket.
This is what we did in Tomczak V when we had World Cup play. It worked well.

Pass the word to your Tomczak faithful about the Des Moines tournament. Thx
I posted about it on our FB page and also gave it a tweet.

Got the page updated. Get to www.iowatecmo.com and register. With Tomczak pending... this is a good change for those eastern Iowans to get some good tournament games in.
Tomczak won't be until sometime in 2018. We're done with December tourneys.
I'd like to try to daytrip down for this. I'll check my schedule and hopefully register soon.

The Conjurer needed his privacy in the Mort-o-potty to do it.

Does anyone have photos/vids of the band playing? That was the most surreal moment by far, watching a full band set up all their equipment in the middle of nowhere, play a kick ass set, then breakdown and leave.

I have photos I will post later. I just wanted to thank everyone at Burning Mort for the amazing experience and especially to the ND crew for making it all possible.

Anyone have any info on I35 by Owatonna on the way up? I heard its very bad for delays. I'm considering going 80-29 or 35-90-29 in lieu of 35-94. Anyone have thoughts/input?
Looks like it's about a nine mile stretch with one lane going each way. Camera on Minnesota's 511 site right now shows pretty light traffic on it so it may just be at certain times. I plan on going up that way.
