  1. I knew it might end poorly for the Seahawks...I drafted them out of principle and the 8% chance of keeping Krieg.
  2. Another historic day of Tecmo Super Bowl. Props to all who participated. This was perhaps the most competitive field in PNW history. Top props to @ptitteri for staying up and getting an impressive victory, @kamphuna8 for pouring your Tecmo soul into the event and playing incredibly down the stretch, and Joey B who probably wont see this cause he doesn't get down with this online bullshit, but thanks for letting a bunch of derelicts trounce about the Eagles Nest. UPDATED PNW RANK @kamphuna8 34 @DT. 22 @ptitteri 20 @gripsmoke 18 @Tick 16 @XtraLargent 12 @fairfensheeding 12 @invader_star64 11 @boogiewithstu 10 @manYo720 8 JOEY B 7 @~Tailback King~ 4 @bruddog 2 James Brooks 2 MORT 2 @moonwalk 2 @SirTed 2 Shermy80 1 Neckbeard 1 @red98sethuthut 1 @The1991Huskies 1 @SuperSonics 1 -Depreciation for Portland II -Finishes no longer considered for Mayhem 5 -CFT 4 pts were Ptits with 8, Kamp, Grip, Tick with 4, Bru, Stu, Joe, and Wagg with 2, me with bupkis Til next time!
  3. Cheesedick rivalries ? @XtraLargent scored a rare beatdown in our first matchup, but failed to get his usual Anthony Carter bullshit and succumbed to the Rams in matchup 2. @gripsmoke handed me 2 losses in the regular season, and another in the semifinals, before I finally took him in the last game. Talk about cheesedick- beat a guy three times then have to play him again for the title... and now he's San Fran. This is just the nature of the beast when we get a small contingent... I gotta say I hardly remember any of this shit without consulting the board. I think I was pretty well hammered the whole day. Does that make my victory any more impressive?? Does that offset the semi-lame way it was closed out??? I'll try to get the tiny print from the Banzuke up here soon in case anyone had a similar experience.
  4. ? I haven't had such a nerd chick boner since they stopped airing "in the mood to be treated rude?" amarite @Tick?
  5. Updated PNW Rank! @kamphuna8 35 @DT. 24 @gripsmoke 20 @Tick 16 @invader_star64 14 @XtraLargent 14 @fairfensheeding 13 @ptitteri 13 @boogiewithstu 10 @manYo720 9 Joey B 7 @~Tailback King~ 5 @SirTed 4 JBrooks 2 @moonwalk 2 @mort1237 2 Shermy80 2 Neckbeard 2 @The1991Huskies 1 @red98sethuthut 1 @SuperSonics 1 What changed? I got 8 pts for the W. Grip, Kamp, and Pete all got 4 for 2-4th finishes. Tick, Joey, Wagg, Vader, and James Brooks was here all got 2 pts for 4th-8th and Loser's Bracket winner for James. Depreciation! Pts earned from the Seattle Championship September of 2017 were all cut in half. Pts earned from PNWTC 5 July of 2016 were all cut in half, 4-8th totals earned from that tournament were removed entirely. PAC RIM II from 2014 is now a distant memory of Tecmo Times past. Sorry Vader! -Kamp misses out on Yokozuna (40 pts, lifetime top 4 status) He would have been a 2nd-4th place finish away but he lost 1 pt on depreciation. The very best he can do is get to 39 as his 8 pts from Portland II will turn into 4 after the next tourney. Man. So close. -Similar circumstances will prevent me from having a chance to achieve Ozeki status (30 pts, top 4 status as long as total pts do not dip below 10) -Tick, who I had at 3rd here earlier, then taunted unnecessarily, I later found was actually 5th, so he moved up a spot... It would have been poetic for him to knock me off Saturday, but he had three chances and thrice was rebuffed. Hey Kobe, tell me how my ass tastes. -Shout out to James for getting 2 pts and leapfrogging about six guys and countless others who never recorded a pt! Pete, get this kid an account on here! (reads end of previous bullet point) Eh, that can wait I guess... San'yaku for next Honbasho! (order of most recent champs) 1. DT 2. Kamphuna 3. QB Fairfield 4. Ptitteri Makuuchi 5. Gripsmoke 6. Tick 7. InvaderStar (next up for Sanyaku) 8. XtraLargent
  6. Pluses and Minuses y'all. +Most of us have our go-to matchup calls so it was cool to see some different games in the mix. +Regular season with conditions and injuries +Playoff atmosphere +The PNW Ranking. I'm excited to compile the updated standings. +The Banzuke will be a great addition to the PNW Museum we hope to build in Kamp's garage someday. +The Sumo Wrestling and Huskies tapes I found at Scarecrow Video +Peter going 3 for 3 with winning the prizes, which were an NES, SNES, and GEN game, despite not owning any of those systems +Katy and Bleachers Pub -Did not expect there too be so many lopsided matchups in the playoffs. Jets made the damn Superbowl in one sim. WTF. -There were some other unforeseen weird things that crept up in the playoffs. -Trying to explain the high concept ass format in general. -It still went until 10 something. I really was trying to get it through by like 7 something. The next one will be structured in such a way to give us a better chance. -Four games featuring San Francisco. San Fran 4-0 with three knockouts. Meh. -Scarecrow switching out the 1988 Seahawks Season Review video for "Eleanor In Her Own Words" -The assdick who played "Strokin" on the jukebox, I shit you not, 3 times in a row while I was getting worked over by Gripsmoke Well, I have TWINS coming in April so when will the next one be? Impossible to predict! I do think there was a lot to build on with this one and a lot of lessons learned. It's a weird feeling to win when you are the organizer, but this is my first one in six tries so fuCC y'all, I was due! Sanyaku, bitches. Thanks everyone for contributing to a fun day, Special shout-out to @kamphuna8 who supplied about half the gear, ran the stream, and was crowned the very first Ozeki in PNW Honbasho History!
  7. Not sure if this is really the best way to prepare for this, but it's how I am choosing to prepare for this
  8. Yeah! Big weekend. If it wasn't for this, I might be tempted to hop on a plane and mix it up with @RetroNathan or @Bad Moon Rison two of my favorite Tecmo homies. Good job Knobbe attempting to break down our event, which I have designed to sound as confusing as F. We are very excited about the potential of this format and it should be a very good time! (It always is) Anyone in the PNW, I encourage you to come out to Greenwood Saturday and get involved!
  9. There will be a 2 on 2 NBA JAM competition. It MAY be on the arcade cabinet, so bring enough $ It may also end up being on the SNES or GEN. The arcade is $1 per game per player. The winners stay for free. Coindexter, the next door bar, also has a fuckton of other sweet games. Also, Greenwood has several other interesting bars and eateries. I just want y'all to be prepared!
  10. I have compiled a ranking! This was very hilarious and fun to make, combing through all the records of the various PNW events. Formula The most recent four events: 8 pts for winning. 4 pts for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. 2 pts for 5th-8th or loser's bracket victory. The four events prior to that: 4 pts for winning. 2 pts for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. 1 pt for 5th-8th or loser's bracket victory. The four events prior to that: 2 pts for winning. 1 pt for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place. So showing up to many events is good. Recent form is reflected heavily. Top 4s going back to Pac Rim II in 2014 are factored in. Proximity to Kamp's Garage is crucial, which is why Tick suddenly finds himself in the top echelon. Without further ado, the first PNW Tecmo Rank! Here are all competitors that have earned any pts! @qb_browns I'll be sprucing this up and providing more details for the official Hanbasho I Banzuke. Tiebreaker is championships then appearances then most recent appearance. I have 1 championship (that many feel was the most impressive in PNW history). Tick has zero titles. CFT season zero was just that. Nothing. 1. @kamphuna8 32 2. @DT. 19 3. @Tick 19 4. @gripsmoke 17 5. @invader_star64 17 6. @fairfensheeding 13 7. @ptitteri 13 8. @XtraLargent 12 9. @manYo720 10 10. @boogiewithstu 10 11. @~Tailback King~ 6 12. @SirTed 6 13. @moonwalk 4 14. @mort1237 4 15. Joey B 3 16. Shermy80 2 17. Neckbeard 2 18. @red98sethuthut 2 19. @The1991Huskies 1 20. @SuperSonics 1 21. BurnOne 1 -Kamp is way the hell ahead of the rest of us. Been playing some real solid Tecmo of late. -I decided to go ahead and give a competitor that showed up to a Portland tourney once named MAD MANYO's points to Manyo. He had a completely different temperament, but that was the same guy. I'm almost certain. -My bad Brandon for assuming Rudy would be ahead of you in the metric. It was not even close and 2 of TBK's pts were generously given as a result of a loser's bracket victory, though that whole run that day was Johnny Johnson as fuck. -My bad Vader for texting you yesterday that you were #2 -My bad Vader for texting you a little later that I fucked it up and you were actually #4.... You are #5. -Yes there was a guy who decided to go as "Neckbeard", standing out like a sore thumb here without the tb.org handle. Peter's buddy from Portland. He's good. I beat him Giants over Bills with an LT FG block. -Tick should feel good about his #3 rank, but he'll never ever do better than that. So all of the standings SHIFT after Saturday at which point a whole new set of shit will be in place for Honbasho II (lord willing). Should be fun to keep track of! BANZUKE!
  11. @gripsmoke It's a week away, which means I'm basically that Space Ghost gif 24/7. Long Live Tecmo
  12. So its looking like: San'yaku @kamphuna8 Kamphuna (CFT 1, CFT 3, Portland 2018 Champion) @invader_star64 Vader (Portland 2017 Champion) @ptitteri Peter (Seattle 2016 Champion) @fairfensheeding Randino (CFT 2 Champion) But Rand is a likely NO and Vader is unable to fully commit at this time... which leaves @gripsmoke to likely get a spot at the top for winning Manyo Mayhem more recently than me, @DT. With @manYo720 also bowing out and @moonwalk in another realm, the next division is likely to be: Makuuchi @DT. Your Boy @Tick Tick, (CFT 0 Champion, Holzbauer Slayer) @boogiewithstu Stu, (seasoned veteran, several very solid showings) @~Tailback King~ TBK (has done a bunch of stuff that has never been done in the history of Tecmo) According to the metrics, @XtraLargent will come up just short of the Kuuch, unless another dude doesn't show. I also have yet to compile the metrics, so who knows. Juryo @XtraLargent Waggs (consistent contender, top-level chirper, might have got 5th once) Joey B (whose regular CFT appearances likely vault him above the rest) Dan B aka '91 Huskies (three tournaments under his belt, shoot the J) Dan G aka Hanging Chadwick (two tournaments attended, solid showing at a Manyo Mayhem) Makushita Matt aka Shermy80 (two tournaments attended) James aka Jbrooks (two tournaments attended) Tyson aka Six-killer (one tournament attended) Sandame Jack aka StoneColdJackAustin (a new player from Portland!) Some of you guys should make a profile in this piece to get the @ treatment. It's pretty neat. Let's shout out some fools as a last ditch. @SirTed @SuperSonics @LT#56 @joelcsuh @Cervin @GoBlue84 @jessebaran @TheProfessor Where y'all been? Come battle with us the 26th. Let's reach out to all the peeps! @Polish Rifle Crossing my fingers you can somehow get involved! 10 days until battle.
  13. Da Crew. To all would be attendees who do not have their "A" game sharpened, you better PRAY for that 25% chance JBrooks doesn't show, cause his 12 year old ass WILL expose you, shake your hand, say "good game", then go on with his day like nothing happened. Cold. As. Ice. Good luck telling your homies about that L... Probably why we have yet to hear from @~Tailback King~...
  14. 1. That was also not recognized as an official CFT Season. 2. That was Joey's place 3. It was some buuuuullshit 4. You better bring more game to Seattle than you are bringing to this mess board
  15. If I start giving fools mad props for farting around for a couple hours, stealing a couple games in a row, and walking away with a little cash, the CFT community just wouldn't stand for it. The Honbasho Council might have felt differently if @XtraLargent had fielded a competitive team.
  16. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I will be adding some fun shit to the proceedings regarding prizes! The winner, 2nd place, and 3rd place will get their usual cash prizes and TROPHIES, but there will also be a nice $ prize to whoever comes away with the best win-loss record on the day (in case someone rocks major butthole early on then gets a couple tough Ls in the playoffs). This will be referred to as the Kachi-Koshi which in Sumo simply means more wins than losses. Also! There will be small prizes after each week with the Tecmo Gods deciding after the fact what statistic, and if we are looking for the highest or the lowest in each. For instance maybe it will be MOST PASSING YARDS and the winner may receive a pair of Isotoners autographed by Dan Marino or maybe it will MOST INTERCEPTIONS and the winner will receive a dental dam once used by B.J. Tolliver. It will not likely be either of those things, but trust that the prizes will be neat.
  17. HONBASHO FORMAT: Before the tournament begins, six cartridges of Tecmo Super Bowl will be placed in six Nintendo Entertainment Systems and shall each have seasons auto-skipped through week 7. Weeks 8-10 will be then be simulated game by game and injuries will be tracked. The tournament will begin with the 6 matchups featuring the top 12 players, one on each station. The LOWER ranked player (lower as in 12 not 11) is the CHALLENGER. They pick a matchup from the week 11 slate and the HIGHER ranked player can select a team or player 1. Records will be kept. After the game, the remainder of Week 11 will be simulated with injuries being tracked. The 2nd slate of games will then be Week 12 of each season on each station. The player vs player matchups will be determined by a) least games played b) least losses c) highest pre-tournament rank. This will also dictate the stations. The LOWER ranked player will continue to call matchups. This process will continue with Week 13 and on to Week 17, at which point everyone will have played 6 or 7 games. The top 12 remaining players advance to a double elimination playoff that will play out on each cart's actual playoffs. It continues along with one game on each station for Wildcard round, Divisional, then Conf. Chamipionship. It ends up the last four games are all SUPERB OWLS. Those willing to watch it all have a chance to witness FOUR Mighty Bomb Jack Halftime Shows. This should be even more of a hum-along then the previous tourneys I've set up. I can say with certainty that if we start at the scheduled time of 11, we will be done by 7 pm at the latest. There will be no surprise injuries as they will be tracked. It would be shame if someone threw out a Randall-less Eagles vs say, a healthy NYG. Viewing conditions BEFORE selecting a matchup will be forbidden! If you just so end up on the same cart where you just played the previous week, feel free to use that knowledge to select your matchup/teams. I am hopeful that the format will provide a little something different, sprinkle in a little CFT season flavor, sex things up with some playoff atmosphere, but all the while keep things OG as Sir Mix-A-Lot, so bring that Hooptie up to Greenwood and take part in the historic first Tecmo HONBASHO. It's gonna be even BETTER then what has come before!
  18. PNW HONBASHO 1 - Behind the Wooden Shed Bleachers Pub 8560 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103 10 am Saturday Jan 26th $20 Rookie Entry Fee, $30 Veteran Entry Fee BEAST For the latest and greatest Tecmo Tournament, we will be drawing from the ancient tradition of SUMO. This makes a lot of sense because 1) Tecmo also originated in Japan 2) When players are grappling in Tecmo, it looks a hell of a lot like Sumo wrestling 3) There are a lot of beefy competitors in our Cascadia Contingent. I'm looking at you @XtraLargent 4) @kamphuna8 is a big fan of the sport 5) It provides us with an excuse to incorporate words like Yokozuna, banzuke, and kachi-kochi So for the Honbasho which just means major tournament, we will first determine a pre-tournament ranking, which will be set by past results. The ranking will determine a great deal of the schedule, aka the Banzuke. The first division is the San'yaku. It will be comprised of the four most recent Champions. The San'yaku for this tournament will be: Kamphuna @kamphuna8 The most recent Portland and most recent CFT Season Champion Ptitteri @ptitteriThe most recent Seattle Champion QB Fairfield @fairfensheeding CFT 2 Champion Vader @invader_star64 Portland 2016 Champion If one of those guys can't make it, @gripsmokewill join their ranks for having somewhat recently won a very competitive Manyo Mayhem tourney. Next up is me @DT. for having won the previous Mayhem If Peter aka @moonwalk somehow made an appearance, he would supersede us both as Seattle 2015 title winner. After some debate, I will not be counting @Tick's season zero CFT championship, though his accolades throughout his career will ensure him presence in the second division. I'll be working out a formula to determine the ranking officially, but I am certain that @manYo720 will fill out this division, the Makuuchi. The next division will be the Donkey Division comprised solely of @~Tailback King~ and @XtraLargent as the only competitors they could possibly be lumped in with are each other. Just kidding, they will be in the Juryo which is the next four ranked players, I would imagine being headed up by @boogiewithstu and whoever ends up being highest ranked among the likes of whoever else puts their name in the hat. After that is the Makushita which is an unspecified number of players comprised of any other veteran of a PNW Tecmo event, and the Sandanme will consist of every untested rookie that might get involved. These rankings will determine the each competitors' first three or four matches, with the top ranked players facing tougher competition, after that, match-ups will be determined by record, with each player playing the same amount of matches. Once we finish a round and there are 1 or less players who have yet to record 4 losses on the day, a champion will be crowned, with playoffs to determine tiebreaks, including potentially, for the title. If you recall the Mayhem tourneys that were quintuple elimination, it will be very similar to that, with the major exception that everyone will keep playing until the end. What I am hoping to achieve with this format is some great battles for regional Tecmo supremacy and some more stiff contests on down the ladder as players jostle for position, which will hopefully carry on to further tournaments down the road! There will once again be FUN prizes, themed rounds, and trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! I am HOPEFUL that this tournament will end significantly earlier then the average CFT tourney (7 or 8 pm) Get your name in the hat so I can work out the Banzuke asap. The venue is a classic neighborhood sports pub that I knew was the place when I saw someone had hooked up an Atari Flashback to one of the TVs. This in addition to them having a few arcade cabinets on site such as Street Fighter II. There is also an arcade/pinball oriented bar right next door called Coindexter. THE BEST PART of this place is that it is in the heart of Sea-town yet somehow has a HUGE free parking lot right there due to a closed DMV. It also has an alley for super-easy unloading of TVs and equipment. I am designing this to be the most action-packed Tecmo Super Bowl tournament yet.
