Bruddog probably hit most of it, but I'd say the biggest factors are speed on defense and motion on offense.  That formation takes extra time to get the lead blocker (if you have one) anywhere, and defense edge rushing and 3/4s with an emphasis on setting the edge have made that formation -EV to run.    Plus you can get the movement/shifting and other advantages it gives you from motioning an RB, WR, or TE

Going to admit it...I'm scared about what this is.  I feel like the Dotdon playing card will be placed on a doll's head and will be part of some sick ritual should I not be able to attend.  Not saying that wouldn't be deserved.

I'm intrigued, but will also have a full tank of gas and bear mace if things go south.   I've seen Wicker Man....

Thank you so much to DT, and the Buennagel's for putting on such a great show.  The tournament format is so unique, and the newly added Buffalo Six Pack was a great addtion to add even more intrigue to the day.  I would also like to extend a big shout out to all of the other individuals that help this tournament to run as smoothly as possible, including Neerm, and Kevin C. for having better handwriting than Louis.
 
We got kicked out of the bar at about 1am on Friday night, so the staff could close up shop.  However, that was not the case.  Kevin was the last one to leave, and was blindsided by 7 or so randoms playing Tecmo in our upstairs quarters of the establishment, until nearly 4am.  He stayed with all the NES gear to make sure that there was no foul play involved.  You are the man Kevin.  I can't make it out to your tournament in Columbus, but given your commitment to the Tecmo community, I am sure it will be an awesome time.  Also a special thanks to John for the live stream feed.  The HDMI output from the NES, made for an incredibly clear stream, that I was in awe of the whole day.  I didn't get a chance to catch any of the stream just yet, but I look forward to doing so soon!
 
Lastly, a special shot out to DT for letting Toolie and I crash, for showing me the Buffalo late night scene, and for shipping out my pillow I had forgotten in his car!  Oooof.  Keep an eye on the mail bub.  You might have something special on the way for you, to pay homage to the good times.  Thanks so much brother!
 
And I guess, one more last.... Congratulations Morty on a great run, and yet another title!  The championship round, Bills/Giants matchup was a nice touch, and the game we played was crazy fun, full of back and forth action.  I really enjoyed it man, and kudos to you on a great day!

Each year, there are select tournaments that provide high levels of participation and player competition, showcasing some of the best Tecmo Super Bowl talent in the world. Within a calendar year, we here at Tundra Bowl will select a number of tournaments that, we feel, meet the criteria as one of the top tournaments in the nation.  The tournaments on the list will change from year-to-year. If necessary, the qualifying tournaments will change within the calendar year if there are unforeseen cancellations of tournaments on the list, explosion of talent pools, etc.

The winners of these tournaments on the qualifying list will receive their Tundra Bowl Entry Fee paid for, in full, for participation in the following year's Tundra Bowl Tournament.

All 2016 tournament winners on the list below will be able to play in Tundra Bowl IV (2017) for free.

Great time yet again.  Disappointing finish in my loser's bracket final losing in OT on a diving pick by a drone and a 30 yd CC on the ensuing 3rd and 15 after the INT.  Every game was tough.
I then proceeded to drink myself into Bolivian as Mike Tyson would say.  So apologies if you saw me or spoke to me (as I tried to speak) anytime past 7:30 pm CST.
Fun seeing and catching up with everyone and meeting new people.

Is this why so many bachelorettes are tweeting @bruddog about his impending arrival to Madtown? The smell of unmarried Tecmo prowess is in the air. His Keith English Leather musk is irresistible to the defenseless female. Tecmo mating season is upon us.

My brother Mike and I will be making our Tecmo Madison debuts this weekend. Neither of us has ever played in a tournament, so we figured we'd start with the biggest and best. In fact, we've probably played 95 percent of our Tecmo games over the years head-to-head against each other. We are fully prepared for the possibility of going 0-2 and spending the rest of the day cheering on the field, although we are actively hoping to defy the odds and make a surprise run. Either way, this trip is a dream come true. I'm traveling from Erie, PA, and meeting my brother in Chicago before heading to Wisconsin.
 
We will be staying with friends just outside of Madison, so I'm not sure if we'll make the Friday early registration, but we will definitely be there on Saturday. I recently found a letter I wrote to Santa at age 8 asking for "Super Tecmo Bowl or Tecmo Super Bowl" (apparently I wasn't sure on the official name.) Santa came through in the Christmas of '92, and more than 20 years later, my brother and I still spend time over holidays playing our own mini Tecmo tournaments against each other. When I first saw the documentary piece a few years ago, my brother and I joked that we should go someday. Then when I heard this was our last shot, we decided to make it happen.
 
I am a high school English teacher. When I tried to explain to my students why I was not going to be in school on Friday, I got a mix of enthusiasm, support, and "What is Tecmo Super Bowl?" questions. After explaining to a generation of kids who do not know a pre-Madden world of football video games about Tecmo's historical significance and the legend of Tecmo Bo Jackson (he's the reason I am a Raiders fan, after all), they're pretty excited for me. Anyway, I look forward to meeting and competing against others who have grown up with Tecmo like my brother and me. Here's to a fun weekend! We'll see you all soon!

I've always been partial to Drakkar Norwood myself. 

I like being right next to group 30.  That will be an interesting one to watch.  I also want to see Group 26 and Group 32.  This region may be the toughest from a depth perspective, I think you could point to 25 or more players that have a legit shot to make the 16 for the bracket.  May see the Elite 8 dark horse come from Dillon.

It gets harder and harder to get out of group play every year.  I remember the first double elimination (Tecmo IX) you kind of had a feel for which two would advance.  Tecmo X was harder, I'm sure Tecmo XI was even worse (I missed it).  I see groups where 4-5 guys could make the round of 64, which is always my goal and then go from there.
