Neerrm got a reaction from bgboud2 in Dallas, TX - 01/26/13 - Tecmo Texas Tournament!
I had a lot of fun. Brett did a really great job putting the tourney together and all of the guys in the tourney were having a good time. I have never seen so many 49ers/Bills matchups in my life! I think boud, Ashman, and I were at a skill level above everyone else, but that doesn't mean guys won't get better. A couple of people were interested in getting into the online scene, so I hope they follow up on that. If any of you guys are reading this, just hit me up if you have any problems getting set up and I'll help you out.

My first game was against Phipps, who called Cowboys/Raiders off the toss. 42-0 was the first score.

Second game was my first match of the day against boud. I won toss, called Saints/Packers, and he took the Saints. After losing a fumble early, I was down 14-0 at some point in the 2nd, but managed to rally back to 21-14, and boud ran out of time trying to tie it up, he was within 10 yards of doing so.

Third game and final game of my bracket was against one of the many guys named Chris (C-Mac) at the tournament. He had won in double overtime in his first game to open the tournament, which was probably the game of the night. I believe he called Giants/Bills, and I took the Bills and won that one 28-10 iirc.

That put me at the #3 seed based off of point differential. Boud made his way through Kevin F twice and the others in our group to take the loser's bracket side of our group. Seedings of the final 8 were:

#1 Jeff F -- roflstomped his group to the tune of 113-0, or something along the lines
#2 Brett S -- Tournament organizer Brett took #2 seed, though I didn't really get to see many of his games.
    #3 was myself
#4 Ashman -- Ashman's point diff. was a hair below mine, so he got the unlucky draw of boud in the first round
    #5 Boud
    #6 Ben Munoz
    #7 Justin H
    #8 Geoff W

Jeff over Geoff in round 1, not sure what the score of that one was. The RB/WR rule was rescinded for this tournament (or at least not enforced), so when Ashman called NE/SEA against Boud, Boud ran Marv Cook all over the place. I'll let him or Ashman talk about their game. Justin H pulled off the upset over Brett in a 49ers/Bills matchup, Montana to Rice too strong.

I faced off against Ben Munoz, who called Oilers/Bills. I took Moon Moon and Dick Dick, and was able to contain Thomas and shut down QB Bills for a score of 28-0. I had heard a lot of people lauding the Bills and being surprised I took Houston over them, hopefully that blasted some misconceptions

In round 2 Justin H called 49ers/Bills against me, and that was pretty much the game there, final score was something like 37-9. Justin did really well for not having played the game in years.

In the final, I ran into Boud again. I won the toss, and called myself into a losing matchup. PHX/JETS. I had hoped that between Young and McDonald I would be able to contain the Jets (who I was fairly certain boud would take), but in hindsight O'brien's PC is way too high for a matchup like that. I had wanted to call a slightly higher tier matchup, but I dunno what happened to that plan. Got caught up in the moment. Anyway, I started with the ball and got stopped on the Jets side of the field and had to settle for a field goal. Boud back and B'd a huge JJ to Toon to go ahead. Johnny Johnson dropped the ball on the ground one or two plays later and the Jets were up 14-3 in a flash. In the 3rd I had Roy Green in excellent, so I decided to try a little back and B of my own, only to have the JJ in the endzone whiff and Kyle Clifton intercept the ball. Was a pretty brutal play. Boud hit another long JJ bomb to Toon in there somewhere, Tupa came in to the delight of the crowd, and the final was 21-3.

Not that I disagree, but I was able to compete in Youngstown with a grand total of one console warm-up game. It's not impossible, but there's definitely a difference. I'm hoping 2384732989 games Friday night will do me better come Saturday.

Given that I've already shelled out stupid amounts of money just to make this tourney, you're on your own! Should do like a donation drive stream or something along the lines.

DET over TB any day. TB has one of the weakest (if not the weakest) LBs in the game, and Barry is a monster. Even if the person playing TB calls run, you'll still pop off 5+ yards a carry.

DET over DAL too. DAL has no good defender in a good spot to stop Barry. Emmitt is quick, but William White is at DB4 and Michael Cofer can cover the LB4 deficiency.

I honestly have not played a whole lot of games with MIN, but I'd still say DET. MIN doesn't have a playmaker on offense, and while Browner/Millard is a nice combo and can possibly shut down Barry, to do it consistently is another story.

DET over WASH: I called this matchup in the Youngstown final 4 against Chris Vogt, hoping he'd take WASH, but he took DET, and he proceeded to win the tourney. Green/Mayhew are a defensive force, and it's possible to shut Barry Down, but the offense is a little too sluggish to get anything going, and it's easy to give it right back to Barry and co. One called play against WASH offense and the punt unit is on the field.

Long story short, I've always been of the mentality that a weapon on offense will outweigh a weapon on defense.

I was Lions vs CPU Colts, I changed my plays and left Colts alone.

    I won 35-21, with lurching.

Im working on this bug. It has something to do with the drag command. If you press whatever button is attached to the drag before the handoff, the game warps you to the endzone for a touchdown. Ill keep yall posted if I figure it out. Cause this is one of the coolest code hack to date.
