Honest feedback:

We played some games with this ROM before Burning Mort. The rookies are wayyyyyy overpowered. Tredavious White (the 27th pick) is 63MS/50INT. The NFL Interception leader, Casey Hayward, is 56/50. Uhhhh  

At least @Jim Socks 13 is keeping it real Burning Mort-style out in the real world...

Two of the best TSB plays of my life happened in that round. At Tecmo XIV, not only will I be playing, I will be bringing a mirror to set it up in front of my TV every round. Pretty sure this is a guaranteed win.

Burning Mort II Opening Ceremonies

There's no greater feeling than destroying honorary guest Mort in Tetris, who you assumed would go full Rain Man on you. Reaching the championship tiebreaker round of Burning Mort is a very, very close second. Hoisting the championship trophy while The Conjurer looks away in defeat is easily third.

Moral of the story, Burning Mort is responsible for some of the greatest moments of my life.

That is a great idea. For ROMs that use our unhacked base ROM, it is usually best to make mirrors of all the originals because then the balance is just as intended. Keep going, mang!

Got it. That explains the ratings. You can't really use other's ratings on a different ROM. Specifically, Tecmonster's has been hacked to hell and back so his ratings are tweaked to make it evenly balanced.

You'll find your rhythm. Good start.

What is the base ROM? Tecmonster's?
