I guess I should clarify that I'm not saying that cash is the reason why you picked certain tournament's as a Madison major. I know these tournament's you've picked put together a hell of a lot stronger competitive field than our tournament. I believe it's for that reason you've picked those tournaments. My point is cash rewards will always help bring the stronger competition over a tournament offering free beer with your buy in. I hope you don't think I'm trying to insult what you've done for the Tecmo world, and I sure hope you don't think I'm fighting for a Madison major. That was never my intention. I have a big enough headache dealing with the 30 some people I get for my event.

No worries, man. Never offended. Let's trade shirts again!

Nah you can ask James how much that loss has been bothering me - I tracked him down at the last Madison and made him play me with the same teams and p1/p2 as when he eliminated me two years earlier. He was like "Really?" haha. We didn't get to finish the game unfortunately.

I'm still convinced I was at my best at my first Madison, since I stopped playing online for awhile after that. To lose to James when I was up by 7, with the ball at his 10, with 3 minutes left in the game was crushing (fumble, OT, lose with some cc's mixed in). I had the 1000-yard stare for awhile after that.

So my only point was that if I'm not in James' group then I may not get to play him in the tourney, depending on how the bracket shakes out.

    Great story.

Also, what is Flo's longest run at Tecmo Madison?  Even though I'm high on Flo as a local legend, The Burning Mort crowd didn't seem to respect him as much.

Elite 8 (8th place) at Tecmo XII.

Flo gets the most shit from everyone because he talks the most shit out of everyone.

Flo is one of my best Tecmo friends and has the respect of everyone to the nth degree. He was my date to meet Bo after all.

As a player, sober Flo is great. Drunk Flo is even saucier.

I agree! What's most intriguing to me is the whole stick-with-one-team throughout concept. Just playing with numbers. Let's say Mort goes 3-0 and takes the Bears. Regulator goes 2-1 and takes the Lions. Gats goes 1-2 and takes the Saints. Who doesn't want to see Gats try to run the table with the Saints? CAUSE I DO.

Things will get especially interesting if few or none of the groups provide players that go either 3-0 or 0-3. Then where you fall in the lottery becomes SUPER significant -- if you go 2-1 there's a roll of the dice distance from getting your first pick to getting your 10th.

I'm trying to get there but can't. The RNG of this format is quite significant and I am not sure I would want to watch Gats 1-2 with NO as a static team. I definitely would not want to watch a Mort CHI vs Gats NO game. It would be a total slaughter while then also relying on RNG to make the matchup mildly interesting. So, the tournament outcome is RNG x RNG = ?. I am all for change and innovation but this format has far too many changes in one go for me.

Hello. I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I stumbled across this site while searching for Tecmo Bowl tips online. This site is great. I'm 39 years old so Tecmo Bowl was a big deal for me when I was a kid. Great memories of playing with friends. I enjoy collecting retro games. I have about 15 home consoles ranging from the Atari 2600 to PS4. My very first console as a kid was a Magnavox Odyessey 2.

I downloaded the rom for TB18. I love it and can see myself visiting this forum often.

    Thanks
