  1. You may be right. I don't know. It's hard to find a good balance between the game's limitations, accuracy, and being able to tell the teams apart. The original game leaned way too far into telling them apart and gave us such oddities as the Patriots in purple, the Giants in black and the Seahawks not using any gray. The Cowboys don't help any by having at least 2 different official shades of silver and like 3 or 4 different blues. The helmet star seems darker than the blue jerseys - which are darker than the blue on the white jerseys. They're a mess really. I like using the darker gray just to be completely unique in the game without being *too* far off from the real world.
  2. Two options, in my opinion. Dark gray and white: (Dallas vs New England) Or you could use the same gray & white as the Raiders alt, and just make sure that when they play each other Oakland is in black.
  3. I suppose it's not truly an "error" but your rom is yet another that has the Cowboys in blue. The Cowboys hardly ever wear blue. The original game wrongly did that and no one ever changes it. It just bugs the hell out of me.
  4. Well...based on that I guess it's a bit more advanced than the shotgun draw play, and it might work fairly well for a human controlled team. I'm just wondering how well it'd work with a CPU team since you need to use 3 plays to replicate it. It seems like you'd see it far too often when playing against a team with that playbook. I think it would almost be better suited for an NCAA rom. A few similar plays that use a scrambling QB instead of RB1 and you've got an option-based college playbook.
  5. No offense, because it's a neat idea to do just for the sake of doing it... but is there really any practical reason to make a wildcat formation? With Tecmo's style of play it just becomes a 5th running play for the player or a really really bad passing play for the CPU. RBs don't have good passing stats, so actually throwing out of it isn't going to make much sense. Even in reality, it's not intended as a passing play. It's essentially a polar opposite from the playaction pass - you're faking a pass play in order to run, only passing if your opponent over-commits and leaves a WR poorly covered. The game already has a RB direct snap available as a rushing play. For tecmo play, that's all it really is. With all the success Miami had with it, Ronnie Brown only attempted 3 passes this season.
  6. Ok I wasn't aware of that particular way of fixing it... but it's still a flaw that should probably be corrected by the original rom creator, don't you think?
  7. You could, but it would involve redrawing all the sprites and some hex editing. If you seriously wanted to do it, starting with one of those NES sprites on SNES roms would probably be your best option. The regular sprites used 2 colors for each part of the uniform. The simpler NES sprites don't, but the original color data should still be there. So, you could redraw the sprites and make the shoes one of the unused jersey colors. This would make the STUE tool useless and you'd have to go in and fix every team manually. It's a huge pain and probably not worth bothering with though.
  8. Why is it, that on nearly every updated NES rom, people always use a grey and blue uniform for the Cowboys? As often as the real life Cowboys wear white jerseys, I don't understand them being in blue on all the roms, or in the original version, for that matter. Every time I download a rom, I have to go in and change the uniforms so that the Patriots and Cowboys aren't identical. I've also seen it happen a few times with the Raiders and Panthers being the same. It just strikes me as really odd for people to go through so much time trying for accurate rosters and all the various tweaks and then to fire up the rom and not be able to tell 2 teams apart. I don't mean to be an ass or anything, but for future NES roms can we please not do that anymore? Use the darker gray and white for Dallas, light gray and navy for the Pats, light gray and a medium blue for the Lions, light gray and black for Carolina and light gray and white or dark gray & black for Oakland. That way there's no chance of any of these teams looking too similar to each other. It'd also be nice to see the Titans using either white and light blue or navy and light blue, and leaving the white & navy combinations for the Chargers. Thanks. (and yes, I'm the same RaiderKtulu that did some of the initial graphic modding in TSB3, if that matters... but I've retired from doing any more of that stuff)
