  1. I honestly think the Cleveland Browns Defense could of been a lot better if some of other players that were on the active roster in 90 would of been put in the game. Where the hell is Michael Dean Perry ? They put Tony Blaylock at outside LB when he really was a corner. ( i know, Minnifield held out or something) I know there are some solid players that didn't make the cut in Tecmo , just cant think of them right now, but as a Browns fan this kinda erks me.. I know they werent good in 1990 (or 91) but I still think they got the shaft
  2. Hey man, I have a TSB tournament every year. It usually consists of 12 - 14 guys. The way we do it, is draw ping pong balls out of a hat. The balls are numbered 1 through 12 (or 14) depending... the number you draw is the order in which you will pick your team. You get one team to choose for the entire tourney. It is double elimination. A trophy and cash is awarded to the champion. Cash to second place, and lottery scratch off tickets are given to Highest rushing yards by a single player in a single game, most Passing yards, most points scored, and lowest points allowed. New things are incorperated every year. This year I made a memorial for all the deceased tecmo players. And, we had some raffle prizes. The tourney is a blast.. and we all wish it was more than once a year.. but my wife can only handle so much!! good luck w/ your tecmo conquests!
  3. Wampus, good point... I would definately opt for the island over tecmo! I was thinking more along the lines of in the club house after practice or film sessions or something like that. Who knows, I am sure the game was played amongst the pros once the word got out how great a game it was, plus I am sure they would be excited to see themselves in the game.... Moon especially, they were very generous with the Carbon form of good old Warren.
  4. I always wondered this.... You always see the pro football players goofing around with the Madden game, playing eachother in the locker room and stuff like that. Does any one have any knowledge of the players who were in the NFL when Tecmo Super was made , playing that game for fun against eachother? Or..... were they just worried about the "real" game plan and preparing for "real football" , which if true would further support my "riddiculous" post i made regarding todays NFL product as being JUNK
  5. Lets be honest, the quality of NFL football that we are seeing today is Junk. Its out of control now (the NFL) and we the fans just spend away and support the crap product that is out there. Do you really think that the Cardinals team of today or the Steelers team from this year could come any where close to matching up with any team that won a Super Bowl in the 70's, 80's or even 90's The players are over-paid babies , they hardly stick on one team for more than 3 years. They are completely undiciplined at training camp, they are fatter and more out of shape than ever. Its a joke. Once these guys make "the league" they really dont care after they score a big contract. So - my point is enjoy the dying breed of old - school players in the NFL before there is absolutely nobody with work ethic left!! ie: Bret Favre , London Fletcher, Ray Lewis, Jamal Lewis, and few more un-sung heroes Rest in Peace NFL
  6. Guys, I played this game on my old sega core system for a while before I got my hands on a dream cast emulator , and started playing NES's 1991 TSB. I really think Sega had a chance to make the ultimate Tecmo Super Bowl on this one. But.. its almost like they said "whoa wait a minute , lets not make this too good or we will ruin the legacy of the 1991 TSB !" I mean, just the simple tweaking of the game - play would make this a killer game. A little faster game play, and a little bit better on the graphic. Other than that, they nailed it. I love the change in weather, the quarter length (i believe it has this) , the custom players you can make, I especially love the stat - tracker that tells you a players stats right after a big play. ALMOST the Best
  7. Yeah, I gotta agree. 1991's Tecmo Super was the best as far as game play is concerned. IT blows away all other Tecmo Bowls in this aspect. I remeber when the Original Tecmo Bowl came out.. I would try to rent it at the video store every weekend. That was a good game, but it was too easy to pick off passes and of course it did not have full rosters and all the teams in the game. To me the ultimate TEcmo Bowl would be combining the awesome game play of 1991's TSB , then add the size of the players from the original , and throw in the stat - tracking method of Tecmo super bowl III -final edition (SEGA) I like how it updates you during the game with a players stats! (too bad the slow game play ruins it!!)
  8. I usually prefer to play man vs man in person on my dream cast emulator.. no doubt that evenly matched teams will produce a better game.. Its funny , even though its just a video game, I swear you can almost feel the momentum shift , like you would in a real NFL game. For whatever reason , it seems like if you get down by so many points, its hard as hell to get back in the game, and you tend to turn it over a lot as well. The game is like what, 18 years old? and still has the classic game play feel that never gets old. Getting ready for a tournament with some fiends this weekend, and we are all excited like we are 14 again.. its great!
  9. Yeah, its not bad.... Try Tecmo Baseball if you havent allready. The one for the Sega Genesis is pretty damn fun to play, it has like the 94 rosters I believe. GO TRIBE
  10. Take teams that have the goons swarm to the ball, while you control your best Defensive player where you want. As mentioned allready, Pittsburgh and Chicago are both good at getting the goons to swarm the ball. (Goons meaning the other 10 players on Defense that you dont control) If you really dont like Pittsburgh or Chicago ( like myself , I am a Browns fan and could never take Pit) Then go with a strategy in which you decide that your gonna shut down the pass or the run. Pick which ever it is every time , and You control your favorite defensive player in the area you wish.
  11. Obviously, this whole community and web site would not exist if TSB was not the greatest game ever but..... What things ,if any would you tweak to make the original TSB game even better if you were the game developer back in 1991 ?? My personal votes would go for: A. Back up defensive players on rosters B. Being able to intercept tipped passes C. Adding Eric Dickerson to the Colts roster, giving piss -poor Indi a fighting chance at least D. Giving Herschell Walker better abilities (the Vikes would be bad ass if this were true)
  12. I was just playing the COM in season mode, I am Tampa. I pick one off right at the goal line with Haddix, then fall into the end zone with Bears players landing on me. A Safety is called ! I have never had this happen to me before. I did not try to advance the ball after the int, because I immediately was tackled. Should I throw the red flag for a challange here , or is this correct or a glitch ??
  13. I once took the LA RAMS to the championship game in a very competitve tournament.. what other teams could be sleepers in tourney play ??
  14. How about this: 17 former TSB players deceased.... amazingly, all the coaches of those same teams from 1991 are still kicking!
  15. Givens was more of the all around player, but.. my vote is for fenerty who can be more of a game-breaker by getting you in great field position for a possible game winning FG or td. The true bad ass on Houston is Drew Hill.
  16. does anyone out there know how to get a disc that plays on the dream cast : NesterDC emulator??
  17. berniebomb and most likely a friend will attend from cleveland .. THanks for posting
  18. I am very interested in the tourney in April , and will most likely bring a friend with me
