  1. I am trying to organize a Tecmo Bar League in the Greater Cleveland area. If this is of interest of anyone out there , get back to me and I will fill You in on the ideas that I have so far to get this thing off the ground.
  2. In Tournament play (original counsel format) Is Detroit a strong enough team to use in a Double elim tourney? I have mentioned before of my highly anticipated Tourney that I will play in.. Still not sure who I want to go with, and I want to narrow it down to about three teams. I dont like taking the front runner niners or Giants. The LIons are so intriguing to me. I believe if managed the right way they could hang for a while. You guys out there have convinced me to stray away from the saints.. Now I want some Advice on the Lions. THANKS!
  3. Which QB Throws the prettiest pass in Tecmo? Lets throw this one out there and see what everyone thinks.. Is Joe Montana the only answer? What about the long arching throws by Dave Kreig? My vote goes to Don Majikowski.. his passes seem to loft in the tecmo sky for eternity before landing in the arms of Sterling Sharpe.. So lets hear it guys.. I want to know who throws the best looking ball in TSB !
  4. I am seriously considering taking the Steelers for a tournament That I will be playing in early next year.. Any pointers on the Passing game? I like the fast ball that Bubby throws, but sometimes going deep gets me in trouble with the INT's The Defense is what really draws me to this team. Is it better to just stick with short passes and running plays for offense with these guys?
  5. THanks to all who replied in regards to my topic on sleeper Tournament Teams... Its pretty loud and clear that the Saints are not a well thought of team when it comes to being a Sleeper. I am going to give the Lions , Vikings and Chargers some serious Consideration. I got over Two Months until the big Tourney day, to work out all the kinks with these teams and tweak thier play books to my hearts content... Going to face some Live competition for the first time in a couple months tomarrow. Keep y'all posted
  6. I would be interested in a Cleveland Browns Eric Turner Jersey #29 , and a Wayne Haddix Jersey- Old school Tampa Bay uni (forget his Number at the moment)
  7. Here are my pros and cons on these three teams that are on my radar for tourney play: A. VIKINGS: Pros: strong defensively, Browner alone is almost enough to sell me on this team, as I like to buzz by the line to look for the run, then drop back into pass coverage. Steve Jordan is a go-to guy Cons: Wade Wilson can be iffy at times, but not terrible. The feature backs are less than impressive.. B. LIONS: Pros: Rodney Peete can be a difference maker if used like QB Eagles. Sanders is such a threat to opponents that You can sneek in some good play action passes when you got them thinking run Cofer is a beast. Mel Gray pumps up the offense when brought off the bench Cons: Lack of speed on defense after Cofer considered. Very average reciever corps C. SAINTS: Pros: I like the solid Defense, maybe as good as the Vikes. Hilliard , Fenerty and Heyward can give you a surprisingly good rushing game when in good condition or better. Good return game(Fenerty) Cons: Like the rest of these teams just very average recieving corps. Swilling can get chucked when face with contact from blockers if he isnt in good or better cond Can anyone add thoughts to this?
  8. I play in a very competitve TSB tourney every year.. This year I am looking for that sleeper team that no one will see coming. Last year I tried the Jets and was let down by going 2 and out in a double ellimination tourney format.. Turn overs in the Red zone killed me along with the lack of a true super star on defense. I was excited to take the Jets, but just cant pull the trigger on them this time. These are the teams I have on my radar for the next tourney: Vikings, Lions, Saints of the three of these which one does everyone recommend? I like underdog teams and refuse to play with favored teams like SF, NYG and so on.. I am a slightly above average player in skill level compared with the other contenders
  9. Tecmo is on my to-do list today.. Old friend and his family coming over.. cooking up some steaks, and playing some TSB on my retro-duo game system... TSB alive and well here in C-Town
  10. I think Craig Heyward (RIP) has a son playing at OHIO ST. hopefully he joins the ranks soon!
  11. Probably not as well known - that same year, was the AFC Divisonal Play off game in Cleveland, when the Browns and Bills went down to the wire. Clay Matthews secured the game with a int at the goal line , as Kelly had the Bills driving to win the game at the end. Great game if anyone has a chance to check it out on line, do so. Two famous plays in the game were Browns safety Felix Wright up-ending Don Bebee on a ball thrown over the middle, in which he landed on his head, then Wright had the ball fall into his hands for a int.. Also on the Bills last drive Ronnie Harmon drops a would-be game winning td in the corner of the endzone. Sorry to be long winded, but this was a epic battle that not too many people consider when talk of great old games comes up. (Also check out the kickoff return for a TD by my man Eric Metcalf.. 90 some yards right up the gut, that dude was amazing to watch , and my all time favorite Brown.
  12. Any one have info on possible tournaments coming up? (especially in the mid west- north east) I missed out on the Buffalo one and the Fairlfield OH , and really want to make the next one if its in reasonable driving distance from Cleveland THANKS Go Browns
  13. Unfortunately I will not be attending the Mid west tournament in OHIO... way too much going on, on the home front. Good luck to all & GO BROWNS!
  14. Unfortunately, I have to report that I (or my friend) will not be attending the tournament on the 25th, and have to cancell due to a varity of reasons too long to list.. I will be keeping my eye open for other tourneys which I am sure will arise in the future. (especially ones in good old OHIO!) Good luck to those competing in the tourney... and GO BROWNS! (better pick a line backer first!)
  15. in response to stadawims old post: yeah.. its a disc that plays on the DC console... has all nintendo games ever made on it -
  16. Grogan is by far the worst... most disapointing QB to me is Tolliver, rocket arm... no control Hmmm... reminds me of Derek Anderson
  17. I played this for the sega genesis for a while , a few years back before i started playing TSB (91) I was pretty put off by the lack of fun in the game play... Some of the features however were pretty cool. Wish they could just combine everything into one great game.. After TSB 1991 i think the franchise has moved backwards. They need to focus back to fun in the game play
  18. whatever you do avoid slow ass Sam Clancy and Chip Banks, a couple of Browns Failures
  19. I remember renting the original Tecmo Bowl in the late 80's at the video store. I was hooked right away. I can recall pestering my mom on a friday night to take me and my brothers up to the video store down the street as soon as we got out of school, so we could get there before it was gone. The store only had one copy , so it was a war to get it first for the weekend. As far as Tecmo super, I never really bought it.. A buddy down the street got it for a birthday present one year, and man did we ever play the hell out of that game in the early 90's. We were like 13 - 14 yrs old ... great times. Then... years later in 2003, the same buddy who got TSB for his birthday gave me a copy of NESTER DC emulator for the dreamcast. I was thrilled to be able to play TSB once again, shortly after that we started an annual tournament that continues today. The Rams took the whole thing this year narrowly beating the 49ers.
  20. The Computer Buffalo Bills are determined to seek and destroy in the Play offs... get past these guys and you got a SB ring.. (in my experience any way)
  21. I couldnt help but reply to this old post... the tsb tourney is the best day of the year, when a grown man can act like.... well a 14 yr old !
  22. No one really talks about Butts .. Bo, Barry, Thurman get all the glory (for good reason) , but I think guys like Butts, Byner, Humphrey and Blair Thomas get forgotten about .. Metcalf in excellent is a hell of a weapon too... (I'm a Browns fan , what can I say)
  23. Well... I see where everyone stands on the Browns Defense! good replies, thanks. (man, its tough loving the orange and Brown)
