    And the rookie Perine will be in the mix for touches too. Adam Gase is not a Bell fan at all either and will not make changes to his offensive scheme to fit what Bell does best. Here's a good article that sheds some light on the issues with Bell and Gase:

    https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/ny-adam-gase-leveon-bell-offense-rushing-20200501-dli6uqulgjg2bffcv7eqgne3le-story.html

    IMO Gase isn't the offensive genius people try to make him out to be. A good coach adapts his scheme to his player's strengths. Gase is stuck doing the only thing he knows how to do.

    Pretty incredible Tom Brady / Tampa Bay Buccaneers stats line:

    "Brady has five times as many playoff wins, six times as many Super Bowl wins and seven times as many 30-touchdown seasons as all the quarterbacks in Buccaneers history, according to ESPN Stats & Information. He could lose his next 283 starts and still have a better career record than the Bucs franchise." ~ ESPN

    I hate typing stuff like this because I love Belichick.  I really do.  But there has always been the debate on who is more responsible for the Pats success, Brady or Belichick.  And I have always strongly felt that it's been Brady.  People always point to the 11-5 Cassel year, but the fact is they went 16-0 the year before and were loaded with an easy schedule.  They went 1-4 against playoff teams that season - and they missed the playoffs.  Bill went 5-11 in his first season as Pats coach and was off to another miserable start when Bledsoe went down.  The rest is history.  With Brady, Belichick made the playoffs 17 of 18 seasons, only missing in Brady's 2nd year going 9-7.  As head coach without Brady he made the playoffs once in 7 seasons.  1 for 5 with CLE and 0 for 2 with NE.

    Which brings me to my point.  Brady is finally gone and Belichick now has the chance to prove that he can do it without Tom.  And now they are losing all these key players, which kind of seems like a built in excuse if they don't succeed.  If the Pats go 10+ wins and make the playoffs, the response will be "wow, look what Bill did with nothing".  If the Pats go below .500 it's "the Pats lost too many players".  The response will never be "Belichick can't succeed without Brady".

    I would have LOVED to see the Pats with pretty much the same team, minus Tom, to see what happens.

    Love it. I'm on Y13.

    Entered the league with the Cleveland Browns. Stayed in Cleveland for 6 seasons.

    Start of Seasons (Cleveland Browns)
    Season 2: 9-7 --- Finished second in the AFC North.
    Season 3: 10-6 --- Wildcard loss.
    Season 4: 12-4 --- Won the Retro Bowl.
    Season 5: 12-4 --- Divisional Championship game loss.
    Season 6: 14-2 --- Won the Retro Bowl.
    Season 7: 14-2 --- Wildcard loss. (This was an especially painful loss.)

    After solidifying my head coaching and GM status as a contemporary local legend in the Cleveland market--I don't wanna say that it was on the same level as Lebron, but I won't deny it either--I decided to follow in the footsteps of the Hoodie, and take an opportunity as a head coach in New England to attempt unseating the icon whose team I am now in charge of.

    Start of Seasons (New England Patriots)
    Season 8: 11-5 --- Won the Retro Bowl. (The Patriots shocked the sporting world with this championship win. Everyone in the retro media had counted them out.)
    Season 9: 14-2 --- Won the Retro Bowl.
    Season 10: 10-6 --- AFC Championship loss. (This was a heart-breaker. The sports media was convinced a dynasty would be solidified in Coach Yak's first three seasons in NWE. Completely fresh team coming off the draft. Franchise QB Ty Jacobs is drafted in the second round.)
    Season 11: 12-3-1 --- Won the Retro Bowl.
    Season 12: 14-2 --- Finished 1st in the AFC East. (This was a brutal disappointment. Not for nothing but my wife was in my ear. It was a poor choice to play the game during whatever it was she was saying to me. Lesson learned.)
    CURRENT SEASON | Season 13: 3-0 --- Buffalo is tied with me for first in my division.

    RETRO BOWL TODAY NEWS
    As you can see in RB01.jpg, I saved myself a little cap room for the inevitable departures of some players in their final contract year. Morale is high. I have a capable coaching staff underneath me, although that Morse guy has the face of somebody who takes a little too long in the shower, if you catch my drift. As the Patriots should, they're playing in perfect Stadium conditions, with cutting edge training facilities, and a rehab facility that makes the Dana Farber Cancer Institute look like a local VA. Draft pick allotment is typical, but as GM Yak is known to do, late season/post season trading is always an option. Like his predecessor, GM Yak is all business when it comes to contracts.

    RETRO BOWL TODAY NEWS
    In RB02.jpg, we see the general team makeup. Shout out to T-Cole, who is a WR veteran leader of this team at 33 years-old. He's been on one year contracts since Coach Yak took over the franchise, and amazingly has not worn out his welcome, asking for reasonable 1-year, $8M deals. T.Cole very much plays the Edelman role on this current Patriots team. This year's defense largely consists of a very talented bunch of early-round rookies after a very successful off-season for GM Yak.

    RETRO BOWL TODAY NEWS
    In RB03.jpg & RB03a.jpg, we see the FIRST EVER contract extension for a QB in the history of GM Yak's career. TY Jacobs was picked up as a latter-round draft pick for cheap in the draft a couple of seasons earlier. At a reasonable extension of $42M over 3 years, Ty Jacobs has the max accuracy potential and max arm strength potential that Coach Yak has been looking for since his very first season to make a long-term investment in a franchise QB.

    RETRO BOWL TODAY NEWS
    In RB04.jpg, we glimpse Coach Yak ascend the ladder of Retro Bowl coaching immortality. Will he tie Belichick this season at 6 Retro Bowl championships, staking claim as TIED for the greatest football coach of all time? The pressure is on!

    Wow - thanks for this.  I came across this post yesterday when I was laid up with a stomach virus.  Ended up getting through 2 seasons.

    I was signed by the Miami Dolphins.
    Season 1 started me on the last game of the season, which I won.  Team ended up 3-13.
    Season 2 went 11-5, then 1 and done in the playoffs.  I actually played a solid game, but my defense let up 31 pts.
    Season 3 went 13-3, then once again, 1 and done.  Beat by the damn Patriots 😆.  I could only muster 6 points.
    Season 4 I'm off to a 2-0 start.

    So all together I am 27-10.

    QB is 485-705 (69%) nice.... with 79 TD and 36 INT

    I can't help but feel this game has ties to Tecmo Bowl.  The RB I drafted in season 2.... J. Stout.

    While I was laying in bed last night eating cake and watching Kyle Shanahan blow another Super Bowl lead, I was searching on my iPhone in the App store for a new football mobile game, as the Madden mobile game is fucking trash.

    Low and behold, there's a new game in town that someone built to resemble Tecmo Bowl. They call it "Retro Bowl", and how they've laid it out is quite interesting to make it a mobile experience.

    There's drafting, trading, coaching mechanics, playing mechanics. The QB throwing mechanics are fucking boss. There's a lot to this game, but it's all condensed to account for a mobile experience. The game doesn't even allow you to play defense, as it simulates all opponent offense. Some things about it are strange, but I'm finding it incredibly enjoyable. Depending on how quickly you play games, you could finish an entire season in one sitting.

    I highly recommend everyone check this out, if even just to see how someone has repurposed TSB sprites and other core concepts.

    A few people have sent me messages asking to help explain how to alter the QB WR priority selection. Here's a brief tutorial.

    Go to the destination HEX addresses below.

    Pass Play Pointers:

    PRO T WAGGLE L = $A4ED (x84FD)
    R AND S FLARE C = $B287 (x9297)
    PRO T WAGGLE R = $ADA0 (x8DB0)

    Additional QB Priority Information:

    Example Play:
    R&S FLARE C QB
    $B287 (x9297): d4; c0 00 dc; e4; c0 00 f0; f0 80; 2c $B2AC; c7 $B2A6; c1 1e c8 b3;
    THROW (x92AB): 94 31 25 44 32 f3 $B842; ff $B832
    $B2A6 (x92B6): c1 1e c8 f3; fe THROW
    $B2AC (x92BC): c1 23 2d fd; e2 04; e3 04; d8 10 e8; d8 1a f0; 27 $B838; fe THROW

    Common Designs:
    $B832 (x9842): STAND FOREVER
    $B838 (x9848): RUN
    $B842 (x9852): SWITCH CONTROL TO RECEIVER

    Key:
    91-94 = PASS RECEIVERS
    20-2F = RANDOM GOTO (20 is likely to 2F is not likely)
    C0 = DROPBACK
    C1 = PASS TIMING
    C7 = GOTO POINTER IF CPU (CPU and COA/MAN are different)
    D4 = TAKE SNAP
    D8 = MOVE TO LOCATION
    E2 = BOOST RP
    E3 = BOOST MS
    E4 = PLAYER TAKES CONTROL
    F0 = FACE DIRECTION
    FE = GOTO
    FF = GOTO POINTER

    C1 has 3 values. The first is START TIME, the second is END TIME, and the third is TAKE A SACK CHANCE. The QB will throw the ball anywhere inbetween the start and end times (so a small range 23 2d will not vary much but a large one like 1e C8 would). The final value is the chance of taking a sack or immediately throwing it (higher is more likely to throw) even if not in time frame.

    91-94 has values for the odds of throwing to a receiver and which receiver order. 91 has 2 players, 92 has 3 receivers, 93 has 4 receivers, and 94 has 5 receivers. From the play above (94 31 25 44 32 f3) 31 is 3 chance to 1 (RB1), 25 is 2 chance to 5 (TE), 44 is 4 chance to 4 (WR2), 32 is 3 chance to 2 (RB2), and F3 is F chance to 3 (WR1). The chances are 0 is very unlikely to F who is very likely and F will always be the final receivers value. The QB will look in order from first to last on the list one by one checking whether to throw or not.

    Note: the QB will only throw the ball once the 91-94 command has been reached.

    Dude....
    This game is awesome!!!
    The difficulty increases season by season.
    There is more nuance in the gameplay than i originally thought. Which you'll have to figure out if you're going to win all your games in the later seasons.
    Ruining the ball is easy I the first season or 2. But in later seasons, it's much harder.
    Throwing deep is also easy in the first few seasons also, but in later seasons you'll need to figure out where to put the ball so that your receivers can adjust to catch the ball because their route doesn't put them in an open position.
    There's also the question of 'how much difference does a good OL make?'
    And which defensive positron is most important?
    Strafing with the running back is also an art that i have not yet mastered, but hear that it can make a huge difference in gaining yards after the first few seasons.
    I can't stop playing this game...

    Live that shit up! 50 years! That’s a long-ass time.

    I see some younger New England fans worry about the eventual transition of the Brady era, and it’s like—fucken relax, bros. The Patriots could not win another Super Bowl for a generation, and you should be fine with that. The winning has been unprecedented in the Boston market since the early 2000s. Relax.
