  1. Winner of this tournament meets up with the winner of the Tundra Bowl later that night? #TwoTecmoTourneysInOneDay
  2. Would you like to one-day trip this with us? Me, Matt and Joey plan on leaving at like 5 a.m. in order to get up there before kickoff and so that I can set up a livestream. Maybe you could meet us near I-75 so we could pick you up and cruise straight there. We will be heading back home that night after the tournament.
  3. Matty V (BigMV54), Joey V (513boy4life) and Chris V (vogtcd11) all making trek to this bad boy. A nice tuneup for Madison!
  4. I will continue my yearly purchase spree from the Flo Booth.
  5. For those who have to go through the significant other, and a rigorous conversation, in order to gain access to this trip we all call "Tecmo Heaven," I have a strategic, yet probable, way of convincing them to give you the green light. I've been fortunate to be a part of the last three Madison tournaments, despite my daughter's actual birthday being March 9. She turns 5 the Monday after Tecmo XI. Mind you, this is in the car during a trip with my mom, my fiance, my fiance's niece and my 4-year-old daughter this past Saturday to see Santa Claus at a local mall. Also mind you, I hadn't officially asked for the green light ... yet. Me: "Mom, did you know it is Tecmo Super Bowl's 23rd birthday today?" Mom: "No way?! Are you serious? That means you're getting old. It came out that long ago?" Me: "Yeah. Hard to believe, huh?" Mom: "When is the Madison tournament? Are you going to go again?" Me, looking at my fiance: "It's March 7 this year. They are having another tournament. I'm pretty excited." Fiance, looking at me (and I know it's about to get serious): "Jenna's birthday is the Monday after." Me: "That would be perfect. We can have her birthday party on Sunday, March 1. She'd love to get her presents early. She's still young, and she still may not know the true difference of when her birthday party is, just as long as it is before her actual birthday if her actual birthday falls on a week day. Which in this case, it does." Fiance: "I just don't know how long we can keep having her birthday party that far away from her actual birthday." Me, with a soft tone because others are in the car: "I definitely understand that. I think we can work out the best of both worlds with me enjoying a fun weekend with my brother (Matt), and Jenna getting the 5-year-old birthday experience early this year. I don't want to miss out on an important brother bonding moment like this being the fact that there's been an ongoing fear of it being the final one." Fiance: "We can have Jenna's birthday party on March 1." Have the Tecmo Madison talk with others in the car or in the same room. Odds are, you can control the tempo and conversation. I understand that others have different circumstances. But this is always a hard one for me. But regardless for me, a fourth straight visit, five overall, to Tecmo Madison has been confirmed by the significant other herself. #winning #seeyouinmarch
  6. PayPal is great for these kinds of events. It definitely prevents people from impostered stupidity. There is a way to link a PayPal account to your website for easy signup capabilities. Something to think about for future tourneys.
  7. I would also like to help out where I can. I wanted to last year, but my focus was surprisingly dealt elsewhere.
  8. Is it despicable of me to be this butthurt -- like, really, really, really butthurt -- that I didn't engage in the festivities this past weekend? LOL.
  9. Good luck to everyone playing this weekend! Missing out on an epic time that's for sure.
  10. It is with great disappointment to announce that neither a Team Vogt, a Team Midwest Tecmo nor a Team Ohio will be making the trek for the Ryder Cup this year. I don't have to spat out excuses other than it just isn't the best option for just about all of us. But those interested on our end were: 1. Derek Ruble, TecmoPyscho 2. Chris Vogt, VogtCD11 3. Matt Vogt, BigMV11 4. Jimmy Vogt, LilLefty021 5. Joey Vogt, 513boy4life 6. Ryan Stewart, Ryan11p It would be so much fun and worth it to make this trip and play in a tourney that isn't your traditional elimination tourney. Just not this year. Thanks, Leonardite, for putting this together. Hoping there will be some sort of stream set up in order for us to watch how much fun we will be missing. Good luck to all!
  11. 14-hour drive from here. Forming a team wouldn't be a problem, getting there could. Let me work some Majik. "Sharpe is always open, always!"
  12. Hoping to make this happen again. Had a blast last year. This will be the deciding factor, though: Will the same death metal, goth band take the stage after the tournament?!?!?! My losses to Louis and Justin Peters got me all tensed up. The mosh pit could work all that tension out again.
  13. Photos and stats will be recorded on our website shortly. I'll also make a recap post as well, if Derek Ruble doesn't already beat me to it.
  14. Fulcher will pick seedings out of a hat to determine matchups.
  15. Regulator won last year's and received a sweet plaque after beating Chet. The mini tournament had a cool spotlight, Pro Bowl vibe to it. So we are doing it again this year with the audience calling the shots on who will play in the tourney. There will be another plaque awarded to the winner again.
  16. In addition to the main event at #MWTecmoVII, we will once again feature a premier, elite mini tourney. But this year, we are going to let YOU decide who will battle it out during the 8-man, single elimination Best of the Best tournament, which takes place throughout the 7th annual Midwest Tecmo Super Bowl Tournament on Saturday, July 19, at Rick's Tavern & Grille. We will hopefully have two LIVE STREAM sites available to view at www.mwtecmo.com/watch and www.twitch.tv/vogtcd11 The participant list can be viewed on our website at www.mwtecmo.com!
  17. Kings Island is a great place to hit up, as well as the Cincinnati Zoo. Fairfield is in the middle of the Cincinnati area, so travels wouldn't be more than 30 minutes to any landmark or special destination. Check out some of these if you're still considering making the trek, Eric: http://www.cincinnatiusa.com/ ... Kings Island has some record-breaking roller coasters. First-ever wooden roller coaster built (The Beast, 1979, and it's a great one) and the Banshee (the world's longest and fastest complete circuit inverted roller coaster in the world). Hope you can make it, Eric. You need to avenge your loss to Baby Vogt, who now has a broken ankle that will involve surgery tomorrow.
  18. I love it! My fiancee and my daughter made me this birthday cake last year after I won the Youngstown Tecmo tourney in July 2013.

  20. I first thought that the guy knew Kyle. Because I also was standing right there watching Derek's game next to Kyle. The chair was open, no one around and then Kyle steps up in front and notions that he was going to sit down. I think Kyle got a little distracted by the game and stood there for a bit watching. Then another guy from the right, don't know his name, just came up and pulled the chair right out from under Kyle as he goes to sit down. I remember this pretty clearly, as it was before we started to get a little tipsy. But this guy wasn't sober. He was pretty hammed. Completely threw us all by surprise. Kyle goes down hard, holding up his water and beer in each of his hands. Kyle's saves a little bit of both drinks, but most of it goes on him. The dude that pulled the chair sort of gives a weird laugh and explains that he didn't mean to do it. But I'm thinking, "How do you not mean to do something that?" Kyle looks at him while he's on the ground, and says, "Are you serious? Did you mean to do that?" And the dude replies, "Oh man, I didn't think you were sitting down." We help Kyle up and the conversation continues about why he did it. The guy does apologize, but still acted like he didn't mean to do it. I walk away because I didn't want to see Kyle get kicked out of Tecmo X for beating the snot out of someone. I come back moments later and discover everyone is oddly laughing about the situation. It didn't taint Regulator's chances of winning Tecmo X.
  21. Wow. Just wow. There's such an immense change in mood making the trek to Tecmo Madison, compared to making the trek home from Tecmo Madison. What can I say? Tecmo Madison continues to blow my mind. An event that truly represents a culture and group of guys who grew up playing a 1991 video game with the exact same appreciation. Camaraderie. Competitiveness. Joy. Fun. Dejection. Professionalism. Drunkeness. Tecmo. Super. Bowl. Without any of this, you won't enjoy it. Continual thanks goes out to Josh, Chet, Tony, Bailey, the girls and everyone else proudly wearing a Tecmo Madison shirt. I couldn't help but thank the manager of Badger Bowl every time I saw him. As I know what he goes through to make the bar/restaurant atmosphere work for their patrons. Dave Murray, my family watching at home from start to finish, do not know you. But they thank you sincerely. From behind the scenes to being able to watch my brother overcome two horrible fumbles in the fourth place game against Skunker, I thank each and every single one of you. To the great group of friends that have been established because of this great tournament and great game we call TECMO, thank you. To my brothers Matt and Joey: It's so cool to see you guys play with passion and love for this game. Joey (21) was born the year after the game came out. Congrats on such a great, inaugural showing at your first-ever Madison tourney. Matt, you're you, dude. What this tourney and this game does for our relationship, it's second to none. Being considered as one of the best Tecmoers to ever play the game -- that doesn't just make this a hobby for you anymore. It's your persona, and it amazes me how much you live up it. The Vogts needed this weekend. Too much has happened personally on the negative end for us Vogts in 2014, and it's only the start of month No. 3. This tourney helped ease a little bit of that pain. Of course, I got emotional after beating Louis, clinching a spot in the Elite 8. But this is what Tecmo, and Madison Tecmo, does for the Vogt family. It brings us closer together in words that really can't be described. Thanks again, you all. #LongLiveTecmo
