  1. Takes some practice w/ the timing but choosing your SS (DB 4- Fulcher position) can run in on an angle and dive thru the blocker and tackle the RB usually for a gain of about 1 yard. Same thing is true for using the 4th LB suck as Kevin Greene w/ Rams can destroy any hopes of this play working if weilded by the seasoned vet. The down point of this is if you miss the RB has a clear 10 yards before you can get back up from the dive. Some players are better at it and have the angle down pretty dam good of when exactly to dive. Worth practicing a bunch of times and trying to master bc when done consistently changes whole sceme of things! Something to watch for, what I've noticed is that when a successful dive is used to stop this play about 85% of the time the same play will be picked again right away by the offense bc they figure that it won't happen 2x in a row and assume that the D calling the plays has scared the offense of wasting that play again.
  2. I'm in CT not far from the Mass state line, about 45 min on 91 and an hour from 84-90 merge. I'm in Mass for work a lot as well so I would go to a tourney there. I had a tourney in CT about a month that had 4 guys drive from Ohio as wel las 3 ppl came from NYC. TSBGOD lives in Mass, try hitting him up via AIM.
  3. [email protected] 203 537 0254 ERIK The boys from Ohio (bigmv, Lefty, Palmer, VOgtc) are on their way to CT, about 6 hours into their 14 hour drive.. Anyone need any info please feel free to contact me as the bar is opening at 10am and the tounrey will kickoff between 11.30 and noon. Bring your laptop w nesticle-orig rom on it and and controller, as well as NES and cartridge if have a working 1. I might not be able to log on at all tomorrow w/ the Ohio Boys coming to town for the tournament, so give a call or email the address above rather than posting any questions on this thread and will respond promplty via Blackberry. See everyone on Saturday morning.
  4. can get a count of how many consoles -cartridges are going to be brought there? I can bring a definite 2 consoles, 2 cartridges, and 3 - 5 controllers.
  5. Since on a laptop one person can use the keyboard while the other uses a controller, isn't a problem unless both ppl want to use the keyboard, but chances of that happening are slim to none.
  6. Yes I will setup a pickup at the New Haven train station for you, as well as whoever else would like to come into New Haven either via train or bus as it is the biggest and most convenient "hub" in the area. More on this as it gets closer to the 26th
  7. Tournament is getting close! It is defin all go with the bar having it at and looking for a head count, as well as how many consoles are going to be brought there. I personally have 2 consoles with 2 cartridges that I'm bringing. As well as 2 laptops w/ the orig rom on it. MAKE SURE that everyone brings their computer controllers with them so can play on the laptops as well. If choose not to play your game that way, and would rather have it on one of the 50 - 60" TVs you defin can, but some of you, including myself don't mind playing on laptop and prefer our controller that is used all of the time via online games to an old Nes 8-Bit controller. All semi final and on games will be played on the bigscreen TVs there, would only be the prelim rounds and pickup games on the laptops (if even necessary) PLEASE Feel free to contact my with any questions or ocmments regarding the tournament. Jan 26th 11am practice-registration 12 - noon start Maloney's Pub Meriden CT 06451 Erik Merliss [email protected] Email me for directions or if looking for info if are going to take the train, or bus here.. I will also give my phone number so can call me when on way if having any issues with the directions or traffic is bad and looking for an alternate route. Most likely I will be in New Haven which is about 20 minutes away from Maloney's and use that as a meeting place for everyone so can follow me in from there, or whoever takes the train into New HAven I can bring them to and from the station.
  8. LAst train back from New HAven is at 1.30am.. I will have no problem bringing ppl back to the NEw HAven trainstation when they want to leave, as it is on my way home and drive right by there, and can seat 4 passengers along w myself in my ride.. [email protected] for any directions, questions, etc..
  9. Have them come to the tourn too augie.. I don't think that there being too many ppl is going to be a problem.. WOrst case if it is going to be an issue they can just hangout and play some games between each other and some of us, as there is going to be an open console-tv or laptop designated to be open for pick up games the entire time.
  10. The proposed Wallingford location is literally across the street from the train station. . YOu can throw a rock from the trainstation and hit teh roof of the place! I am donating a neon sign to the winner "2008 North East Tecmo Champion" w a football underneath.. I can have it at teh tounrament ready for teh winner, or can have teir name made in neon and put on there too if they want to wait a couple of weeks for it ship to them after it is made..
  11. TV's won't be an issue as there will be at a min 8 - 10. Also the topic of Laptops came up w having the orig rom there as we all do to play a tpc game.. Would be able to use our computer controllers on it too.. I have 3 laptops that could also bring on top of the tv's at the bar - sure that a lot of ppl could bring theirs too w a copy of the orig rom and nesticle on it to really make it adequate! Like I said.. A min 8 - 10, could get as many as needed without any problems since there are a number of them there already.. 5-6, w. 2 or 3 50+ inch TVS for the matchups of the day center court!
  12. I drive into the City a lot from there.. Very easy. Metro north is actually easier than driving bc you can get on in the City wherever you choose via subway to Grand Cent., or 156th in Harlem.. Take that to anywhere from Norwalk to New Haven and between me and Augie we are going to pick ppl up and bring to the bar.. It is like 18$ to go from GC Station to New HAven on Metro North. I am pretty sure that on AMtrak from the City is closer to $60, but it brings you right into Meriden.. I have never gone that way bc Metro North is so easy. If you wanted to switch in New Haven to an Amtrak train you can take that into Meriden for a few $ and it lets you off 1 mile from the bar. Driving is pretty easy.. I usually choose to drive just bc I don't like to wait on the train. The easiest way to go is 95 North for 70 miles until you reach New Haven CT. Merge onto 91 North there, then go for 20 miles until you get to Meriden. Once in Meriden take 691 West and then get off the 3rd exit. (I will post number of exit # later when I'm positive of which # it is, but it is names the West Main Street exit), Once off that exit bar is 1 mile down th hill on the right. Quicker way to go is get on the West Side Highway on 55th Street in Manhattan (or anywhere you prefer like 79th, etc), that is the Henry Hudson Parkway.. stay on that and ay the toll that is 2.25 over the bridge, then in Yonkers you get on the Cross County Parkway towards CT, then 3 miles up on that is the Hutchinson Parkway stay on that and then merge onto the Merritt Parkway (route 15N) as soon as you get to the entrance on the left side of the Highway right around NEw Rochelle and WHite Plains in NY.. You take the Merritt parkway all the way to exit 66 (Wallingford CT) then it is about 8 minutes form there on back roads that I will give directions to later on in this tread, or at any point via cell phone to anyone that needs them. The Merritt is much quicker and usually aren't traffic issues bc commercial vehicles, vehicles over 10' height, and trailers aren't allowed on it.. Basically NO tractor trailers Defin ppl coming in on the train can try to schedule getting into the station at or around the same time and I will bring to and from the tournament and then back to the station at the end. . I live in South Norwalk which is 20 minutes to the CT - NY state line on both the Merritt (15) and 95. I'm 5 minutes from the South Norwalk train station too.. I can fit 5 ppl in my vehicle and 2 of my frineds are going to be with me that can also carpool another 6 ppl.. Augie2 (aim) lives in the area and is going to help out too. Please anyone w questions about directions, or want to take the train and set it up to get a ride to - from call my cell phone, email me etc.. 203 537.0254 - Erik [email protected] PUT A FAVORITE ON THIS THREAD SO HAVE THE INFO FOR FUTURE IF coming from the West, or north of NYC.. Take 84 East into CT from NY State. ONCe you cross into CT you will be in Danbury. stay on 84 E for 35 - 40 minutes and then merge onto 691 East. take 3-4th exit off of 691 in Meriden and continue down te hill and bar will be on the right.
