  1. This weekend was an insane experience...We used to get together on Sundays and play our seasons over the course of like 6-8 weeks. We started game 1 of week 1 with 8 active teams on Friday night at 10pm and we finished the NFC Championship Sunday night at around 8pm. People slept in shifts between games throughout the weekend, some of us (myself included) did very little sleeping at all. It was crazy, insane, intense and amazing! I'm dying at work today though. Holy Crap!!! We'll be posting the first videos by this coming weekend.
  2. Rod Woodson is hands down the best player in TSB III. It's not even a competition. He's basically Eric Allen with 56hp. His speed after getting picks, coupled with his HP is obnoxious. Though, pretty much any decent safety with decent picks will net you a similar result.
  3. Who needs 2011 rosters? Just play the game as God intended... grab your squad and roll with it. Barry Foster, Natrone Means, Eric Allen... They need you!!!
  4. Hey guys... head on over to http://www.nftgl.comfor updates. We'll begin posting videos from the 1st season sometime next week.
  5. http://home.comcast.net/~goiggles/nftgl/index.html That's the link for our website. It was last updated during our 10th season of the original league which ended a few years back. The site will be updated after the holidays. The rules won't be changing though, so those are free reign. And after our 1st season, all videos of the games for the year will be posted on the site as well.
  6. NFTGL stands for No Frills Tough Guy League.. I'll post a link for the site when I get into work in the morning. It hasn't been updated since our previous league ended and never really got finished, but the rules section is created. Base guidelines are each player gets 1 team in MAN control. So with 9 teams filling out the NFC Central and West (non-sf) the teams play 8-10 games vs other players and the rest vs the computer. There are a lot of rules created to make the computer more difficult and reduce some other abusive things like onside kicks as well as rules for governing game glitches.
  7. Hey guys... So my buddies in and around Philly are re-starting our TSB III league. Our old league ran for 9.5 seasons of season mode back from 2006-2008 or there abouts. Our new format will be starting this coming Pro Bowl weekend. The plan... 9 players, 9 teams (NFC West and Central, banning the 49ers). The league plays through season mode. 5 of the 9 teams will make the playoffs and our championhsip is the NFC Championhsip, our Man Bowl. All games will be doubly record (video capturing and video of the players playing) and all games will be posted up on youtube. We will be starting Friday night on pro-bowl weekend and running straight through until the season ends, approximately 48 hours later. We're in the process of updating our website. Maybe no on here cares, but I wanted to post it up there because it's tecmo and it's awesome. We also keep complete track of all statistics from all games and maintain coaching records through all seasons. If anyone has a group that is interested in trying out our league style, once our site is updated, all the rules will be posted on our league page.
  8. Just wanted to see if there is anyone on here that plays TSB III for SNES and lives in or around the Philadelphia area? Always looking to play a bit and compete against other people without having to subject myself to the evil that is roms! Thanks, Ray
  9. Hey everyone... I know there are a bunch of tecmo players in and around Philly, so I figured I'd see if anyone was interested in joining a currently active TSB 3 league. At present we play most Sundays and there are currently 7 of us. If anyone is interested, please PM me or post here with any questions.
  10. Bump... We're starting up our 6th season in the league. We've got 7 players presently.. looking for 1 to 2 more people that might be interested in playing. If you're interested let me know.
  11. Like what Tupa said: The only way to get your team to have a total higher FA is to make trades. You can either do it the way he described or just keep your team active and trade for big value players at each position. Otherwise you need to maneuver your pts around on players and lower some positions (usually backups that don't hit the field) to find the pts to get that player you want.
  12. I've never seen that specifically, but I've experienced where entire playbooks are altered in pre-season mode. This however was on a cart I had just purchased off of ebay. I've not looked further into it though.
  13. To my knowledge the only other guy in our league on this site is Steve Tasker... we're presently discussing the idea of running a tournament sometime this year, possibly in May or so.. Not sure on that yet.

  15. I've played both the genesis and nintendo versions... the player creation on them both seems similar. The capping of players seems completely random. I've found it to happen on many different occasions for many different positions. Some positions are easier to get pts for than others. RB and WR and TE all jump pretty well in both versions. OL players move pretty quick usually unless you make an all player made OL players for 1 team then they don't do as well. LB and Safety move faster on D than CB and DL. Sacks help alot in this, except for CB's. They don't seem to gain much benefit from sacks like the other positions. The biggest variance on systems was here as well, getting sacks on the genesis system seems a lot easier than on the nintendo as the play feels alot more like the earlier versions and has some on field glitches in movement with drags and such that the SNES doesn't have. kickers and punters suck as created players. QB is usually hard to start unless you start with 2 1/2 to 3 bars to make the guy and can pull off big passing games. Which is easier again on genesis than snes imo. I think alot of the difference on offense whoring between the systems comes in the way the clocks works. The clock in the snes ticks off a lot of time after plays end and this causes the quarters to run down a lot faster. That problem doesn't exist on the genesis.
  16. One thing we're gonna need to keep in mind is that it's possible we have an odd number of players in the tournament. If this happens, byes are inevitable from the outset. The way things are looking now, we're gonna have upwards of 30+ players. Which is awesome. Since we have 9 televisions, I suggested we cap the tournament at 36 people and after the first round (however long we can make that) we make the first cut to 18 players. If we have 25 people, only 7 people get dropped after the 1st round, if we have 36 players, 18 players get dropped after the 1st round. After that 1st round, the tournament will move alot faster as all remaining players can play at the same time. I'll send you some more ideas via PM. I think I've resolved the time issue for the tournament and fitting in all the games.
  17. There are some of us players who have never played on the web or roms at all... However, I don't care what the rules are as long as they are set and everyone has access to them. As for the tournament structure.. With 9 televisions, 18 players can play at a time. That being the case, you can allow up to 36 players in the tournament if you're allowing more than 18 to start. This will give each round 2 phases of play to account for all the players. Assuming you can get 6 games with recorded results done in 2 hours, we could run the first round in 4 hours, and eliminate 18 players (or leave 18 players left) for the 2nd round. The entire tournament should follow the same team choosing format. My biggest suggestion would be to have the final 4 get paired up and do a best of 3 match up. more coming, work hassles
  18. I was wondering about any play alterations or changes that are and are not allowed; Are players allowed to change playbooks after picking their teams? Has it been determined how often a single team can be used? It was mentioned before that a team could be used only once per round, but with the tier system being what it is, if any one round runs too far, it's possible for people not to have teams to pick from if people are using the low tier teams. If I come up with anything else I'll post it.
  19. I grew up playing on the NES and then moved to Sega at it's release and picked up each of the tecmo games as they came out for the updated player stats and what not.. For about a decade I played on the Genesis with a group of my friends. Now, ever more years later, I run into some friends who play III on the SNES regularly and start playing seasons with them. Has anyone else played the game on both systems? The feel of the games is so vastly different it's ludicrous. It's like playing two completely seperate games. The only thing really similar is the player stats. Even the use of the screens in game for viewing stats and whatnot is different. Then you get into game play and in the genesis versions it's almost impossible to do well on a kick return, and gaining 4 yards on a punt return is really good. Where on the SNES version you can fairly easily return kick offs for TD's and average 10-20 on punt returns (more with players like woodson) But it's not just that. The feel of the game is different. The genesis version, though not as mechanical as the NES Super game, feels far more mechanical than the SNES version. By mechanical, I'm talking about a fluidity in the controls and movement of players on both offense and defense. Kind of like the differences in NHL 94 and then NHL 95, if those mean anything to anyone. Well, anyway.. Just curious if anyone else has gone through the transition from one system to another.
  20. Well, it is NY, I'm sure we could come up with all sorts of 'services'... We'll see what I can pick up on my walk from the train to the tournament.
  21. Ok.. Now I've got a few more questions about the format. The tournament is listed as only being around 5 hours long. Say we get 20 people, we'll have too many for the 8 TV's being made available to us to have everyone playing at one time.. We'd also not have enough time for everyone to play everyone. That being the case, assuming the turnout is good, how does the tournament play out? I'm only asking this question because I play many games on a competitive level and the layout of the tournament structure is a key factor in the overall tournament fairness. So basically, I'm just looking for rules on how everything plays out, how teams are picked and all that. I'm not sure who's running the show but I'd be more than happy to offer my services in helping and what not. Just an offer though, not trying to step on anyones toes.
  22. Ok.. this is just my review of everything I've found for the tournament info lumped into one posting for anyone that doesn't want to scroll through the whole list looking for everything Date: January 27th, 2007 Time: 3pm Start (arrive no later than 2:30pm for setup) Location: NYClan 226 West 4th St @ 7th Ave New York, NY 10014 Potential Tournament Format: 1st Round - Round Robin (everyone plays everyone) 2nd Round - Elimination Format Teams are picked from the tiers mentioned a few posts back and each team can only be used once per round.
  23. I'm with Tasker.. What are the tourney rules and all that... I'm in regardless of what they are.. I can conquer the world with Indy... (computer world that is)
  24. Wow.. This thread got way off topic... Going back to your original setup these are some rules I've enforced over time to try to make the game more difficult. No trying to sack the QB. Unless he's moving to run a player cannot go after the QB. No attempting to block kicks. This includes FG's, XP's and Punts. No onside kicks. No scoring except with FG's. (This was kind of boring after a season) No using starting players. Wherever/whenever possible. That's all I can think of at the moment. As for that tournament idea, I live in Philly and would be all for it.
