  1. The Bills and Raiders played on Oct 11, 1992, so it isn't the Oct 12, 1992 issue. (To be sure, I looked at every page.) I tried looking at the next week's issue but some of the pages weren't scanned yet. You can actually look at every page of almost every SI issue ever at the SI Vault. Go here for the 10/12/92 issue: click on the "View This Issue" link: http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/ ... /index.htm
  2. The cover of TSB III shows Todd Marinovich getting creamed by a bunch of Bills. His head is turned at an awkward angle as if his facemask is being pulled, but the hand near it is not touching the facemask. I remember back in the 90's when this game came out, I saw the original photograph that this cover/label was based off of, and in that photo a hand was indeed pulling the facemask. I always assumed they modified it so Tecmo wouldn't get sued when a youth player pulled an opponent's facemask in a game because he saw it on Tecmo, and then breaks the opponent's neck. Anyway, I am looking for this original photo. I've scoured the internet, using all sorts of different search terms in Google image search, but no luck. If my memory, albeit vague, serves me correctly, I believe I saw the original photo in Sports Illustrated back in the day. If any of you guys could help me find it, I'd really, really appreciate it! Thanx!
  3. Well, it was against the '85 Bears D. Yeah, but he just completely missed the ball! It wasn't blocked and he wasn't pressured or hurried into the kick. The awesome Bears '85 D had nothing to do with him fucking up, except for the possibility that Landeta was so scared of them he crapped his pants when the ball was snapped...
  4. The guy who runs UniWatchBlog.com knows nothing about Tecmo, so he mistakenly included an animated gif from Tecmo Super Bowl. Anyway, it's a really great, in-depth article about Tecmo Bowl, and in response a lot of readers posted comments discussing Tecmo Bowl: http://www.uniwatchblog.com/2009/07/07/tecmology/
  5. I FOUND ONE BABY!!!!! Mark Duper! According to Wikipedia: "In 1994, he...appeared in two games with the Miami Hooters of the Arena Football League." I wonder if he wore that old-school two-bar facemask? Here's his stats for those two games (note the 1 tackle on defense. Seeing Mark Duper as a DB must've been pretty interesting, unless, of course, the tackle was made on a defender who made an interception...): http://www.arenafan.com/players/Mark_Duper-459/
  6. Chuck Long: San Diego State head football coach, 2006-2008
  7. Actually, it's .436, baby! Thanks for making me seem better than I am! LMAO!!!!!
  8. Nope. Hint: Whenever somebody mentions his name, they usually say, "Blank Blank. (No, not THAT Blank Blank!)" (Blank Blank is substituting for the guy's full name so I don't give away the answer, in case somebody is too retarded to figure that out.) Richard Johnson? or Gary Anderson? Nope and Nope. Go here to find out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UPI_AFL-AF ... f_the_Year
  9. In all honesty, I had never heard of Lemuel Stinson before this poll...
  10. Eddie who? I wasn't even sure if this Eddie Anderson character was even in the game! This is probably due to the fact I hardly ever play using the Raiders, lol.

  12. Eligible 2010: Emmitt Smith Jerry Rice Tim Brown Gary Anderson (kicker) Eligible 2011: Deion Sanders Eligible 2012: Sean Landeta Eligible 2013: Morten Andersen Eligible 2014: Junior Seau
  13. You can actually field an entire team, both offense and defense, out of the 32 HOF TSB players: OFFENSE: QB: Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, John Elway, Dan Marino, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, or Warren Moon RB: Marcus Allen, Barry Sanders, or Thurman Thomas WR: James Lofton WR: Michael Irvin WR: Art Monk TE: Ozzie Newsome T: Anthony Munoz G: Randall McDaniel C: Mike Webster G: Mike Munchak or Bruce Matthews T: Jackie Slater or Gary Zimmerman You can ALMOST field an entire defense of HOF TSB players, too, just falling one player short: DE: Bruce Smith NT: Dan Hampton (LB in TSB, but DT/DE in real life) DE: Howie Long or Reggie White LB: Lawrence Taylor LB: Mike Singletary LB: Andre Tippett LB: Derrick Thomas CB: Rod Woodson CB: Darrell Green FS: Ronnie Lott SS: nobody yet (Lott is the only TSB safety in the HOF as of 2009) Also, we'll have to wait until at least 2010 for a kicker and punter...
  14. 1990 Colts, points allowed: 353 1990 Pats, points allowed: 446 The Pats d was MUCH worse than the Colts' that year! Moreover, the Colts d allowed less points in 1990 than the following teams: Browns, Broncos, Cards, Bucs, Lions, Rams, Falcons. Not to metion, the Colts allowed only 27 more points than the Vikings did in '90, and the Vikes have one of the best defenses in all of TSB!!!
  18. I just found a really crazy piece of trivia. Somebody on the 1990 Eagles actually had a better passer rating than Randall "QB Eagles" Cunningham himself. And it's not Jim McMahon. Go here to be enlightened: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/t ... i/1990.htm
  19. This thread isn't really about inaccurate ratings; it's about players with less 1990 playing time and/or stats being included in the game instead of players on the same team playing the same position who had more 1990 playing time and/or stats. Here's another example: Thomas Sanders, RB Eagles: he played in more games and had much more rushing yards than Robert Drummond, and yet Drummond is in the game and Sanders isn't.
  20. I don't think it was released that late in 1991. I know it was 1991, but I don't think it was December. For some reason my memory--albeit a vague one--is that it was April. I'll have to ask my brother and our friend Steve if they remember the exact month, because they were the ones who drove to the store to buy it on the very first day it was available.
  21. I just looked at the 1990 Patriots stats. Grogan only played in 4 games, went 50 of 92 for 615 yds, 4 tds, 3 ints, 76.1 rating. Tom Hodson, on the other hand, played in 7 games (starting 6), going 85 of 156 for 968 yds, 4 tds, 5 ints, 68.5 rating. Yes, Hodson had more ints and a worse rating, but he played A LOT more than Grogan that year, throwing for over 300 more yards and having a slightly better completion percentage. It woulda made more sense for Hodson to be in TSB instead of Grogan. Marc Wilson played in all 16 games, starting 6, and had the most yards and tds of all 3 Patriots qbs that year, so even though his rating was 61.6, shouldn't he have been the Pats starter in TSB? It seems like Tecmo made Grogan the starter because he had the best rating that year, even though he took the least snaps. Moreover, Hodson seemed to be a decent runner. He had 12 rushes for 79 yds for a 6.6 yd average, including one 23 yard scamper. In comparison, Wilson had 5 attempts for 7 yds and a 1.4 yd average, and Grogan was absolutely pathetic with 4 attempts for -5 yds and -1.3 yd average. The only reason I think Tecmo went with Grogan over Hodson was because Grogan was a veteran and a favorite of Patriots fans since the 70's, and Hodson was just a 1990 rookie. Are there any other examples in TSB of players with more 1990 playing time and/or stats being shafted by Tecmo in favor of veteran/more famous players? To investigate this yourself, go here: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/t ... .htm?redir
  22. MTV's "The Real World: Tecmo Super Bowl": LT, Deion Sanders, Andre Rison, Scott Norwood, Wayne Haddix, Jeff George, QB Eagles, and Bob Nelson are forced to live together. Episode 1: Bob "grapples" with his lurching addiction; Scott struggles with "the field goal that coulda been." Episode 2: Former teammates and current prima-donnas Bad Moon Rison and Primetime/Neon Deion get into a fist fight: http://www.extremesportclips.com/video/ ... Rison.html Episode 3: While rehearsing for "Dancing With The Stars," LT demonstrates his "Swim Moves"--and accidentally breaks Jeff's leg. It is unclear if the quarterback was acting as LT's dance partner before the accident, but the mishap resulted in a serious-enough fracture that Jeff had to permanently leave the house. Tecmo fans claim this marked the very first time Jeff George had ever been "cracked-out." Episode 4: Wayne wonders if it was fate that made him have the best season of his short NFL career in 1990, the year on which TSB is based. Meanwhile, QB Eagles "grapples" with his identity. Also, quite un'can'nily, every time QB Eagles tosses an empty Crystal Pepsi can towards the garbage, Wayne appears out of nowhere, catches it in midair, and runs with it to the opposite end of the house where the recycle bins are located.
  23. HA! Browner DID get into politics in 2008, but I had to look at his Wikipedia page to find this out. Your reply made me wonder if that was a serious guess, and sure enough, "Browner ran for city council for the city of Eagan Minnesota. The suburb south of Saint Paul, However he ran as a write-in 2008 and did not win, but he rallied enough support and intrigue to possibly do it again someday."
  24. You guys are NOT gonna believe this. In the same spirit as my recent "Guess who blah blah blah" threads, comes this little piece of Tecmo trivia. I'm not asking for guesses, 'cause it would be completely impossible to even come close to the right answer. Instead, I ask you to just watch the tv news story that's linked below. (BTW: If you want to watch it again after it stops playing, simply refresh your browser): http://www.tsgnet.com/pres.php?id=37074 ... =RC1Fbhmft
