Looking for the Photo from the Label/Box Cover
AugieNo2 replied to AugieNo2's topic in Tecmo Super Bowl III
The Bills and Raiders played on Oct 11, 1992, so it isn't the Oct 12, 1992 issue. (To be sure, I looked at every page.) I tried looking at the next week's issue but some of the pages weren't scanned yet. You can actually look at every page of almost every SI issue ever at the SI Vault. Go here for the 10/12/92 issue: click on the "View This Issue" link: http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/ ... /index.htm -
The cover of TSB III shows Todd Marinovich getting creamed by a bunch of Bills. His head is turned at an awkward angle as if his facemask is being pulled, but the hand near it is not touching the facemask. I remember back in the 90's when this game came out, I saw the original photograph that this cover/label was based off of, and in that photo a hand was indeed pulling the facemask. I always assumed they modified it so Tecmo wouldn't get sued when a youth player pulled an opponent's facemask in a game because he saw it on Tecmo, and then breaks the opponent's neck. Anyway, I am looking for this original photo. I've scoured the internet, using all sorts of different search terms in Google image search, but no luck. If my memory, albeit vague, serves me correctly, I believe I saw the original photo in Sports Illustrated back in the day. If any of you guys could help me find it, I'd really, really appreciate it! Thanx!

Sean Landeta's whiff of an '85 Playoffs punt
AugieNo2 replied to AugieNo2's topic in Tecmo Super Bowl - NES
Well, it was against the '85 Bears D. Yeah, but he just completely missed the ball! It wasn't blocked and he wasn't pressured or hurried into the kick. The awesome Bears '85 D had nothing to do with him fucking up, except for the possibility that Landeta was so scared of them he crapped his pants when the ball was snapped... -

The guy who runs UniWatchBlog.com knows nothing about Tecmo, so he mistakenly included an animated gif from Tecmo Super Bowl. Anyway, it's a really great, in-depth article about Tecmo Bowl, and in response a lot of readers posted comments discussing Tecmo Bowl: http://www.uniwatchblog.com/2009/07/07/tecmology/

I FOUND ONE BABY!!!!! Mark Duper! According to Wikipedia: "In 1994, he...appeared in two games with the Miami Hooters of the Arena Football League." I wonder if he wore that old-school two-bar facemask? Here's his stats for those two games (note the 1 tackle on defense. Seeing Mark Duper as a DB must've been pretty interesting, unless, of course, the tackle was made on a defender who made an interception...): http://www.arenafan.com/players/Mark_Duper-459/

1983/1986 UPI AFC Off. Player of the Year
AugieNo2 replied to AugieNo2's topic in Tecmo Super Bowl - NES
Nope. Hint: Whenever somebody mentions his name, they usually say, "Blank Blank. (No, not THAT Blank Blank!)" (Blank Blank is substituting for the guy's full name so I don't give away the answer, in case somebody is too retarded to figure that out.) Richard Johnson? or Gary Anderson? Nope and Nope. You can actually field an entire team, both offense and defense, out of the 32 HOF TSB players: OFFENSE: QB: Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, John Elway, Dan Marino, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, or Warren Moon RB: Marcus Allen, Barry Sanders, or Thurman Thomas WR: James Lofton WR: Michael Irvin WR: Art Monk TE: Ozzie Newsome T: Anthony Munoz G: Randall McDaniel C: Mike Webster G: Mike Munchak or Bruce Matthews T: Jackie Slater or Gary Zimmerman You can ALMOST field an entire defense of HOF TSB players, too, just falling one player short: DE: Bruce Smith NT: Dan Hampton (LB in TSB, but DT/DE in real life) DE: Howie Long or Reggie White LB: Lawrence Taylor LB: Mike Singletary LB: Andre Tippett LB: Derrick Thomas CB: Rod Woodson CB: Darrell Green FS: Ronnie Lott SS: nobody yet (Lott is the only TSB safety in the HOF as of 2009) Also, we'll have to wait until at least 2010 for a kicker and punter...
