  1. Hey guys. I haven't posted here in a long time, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents about TB:KO. I wrote a review (actually the first!) on Gamespot about it. You can read it http://www.gamespot.com/ds/sports/tecmobowlkickoff/player_review.html?id=626501 if you want. I didn't read any other reviews prior to writing mine, but I will say that mine echoes many of the same sentiments that other reviewers comment on. I consider myself to be a true Tecmo'er and I think that shines out in my review... and in my disappointment of what could've been a great game. LOL... Just read the Games Radar review. I got news for you, if it takes you 12 games to win... you're not good at Tecmo... In fact, I'd say you're Gawd-Awful at it. No wonder he gave it a terrible review.
  2. Wow. Just wow. Been playing Tecmo Super Bowl since it first came out (I'm 30). ALWAYS hoped for a totally updated, complete team ROM. Excellent work all. Can't wait for the editor.
  3. They won't re-release TSB in it's original format on ANY system. If it was legally possible, they would've done it by now, considering the cult following the game has.
  4. I use PIT a lot. I ALWAYS use Strom. I can usually clean house with him, whereas every-other Brister throw is a potential pick.
  5. I think in all the seasons I've played with the Steelers, and there have been many, I have NEVER once had Brister as the starter... GAW he's terrible!
  6. I know for a fact that in a season I played with Pit. it was at LEAST 15-25%. Like I said earlier, it really depends on the teams involved.
  7. Have you noticed that Tecmo has Tony Blaylock, who was a D-Back, playing LB; and Michael Dean Perry, who was a DE (would've been an LB in Tecmo), wasn't even on the team. Perry would've REALLY improved that defense if they had included him in the game.
  8. I wouldn't disagree with this, it just varies so much from team to team that the % becomes sort of irrelevent.
  9. You really can't put a % on how succesful onside kick recovery is. It varies from team to team, since the kickoff team is manned entirely by your defense (except for the kicker). A general observation of mine has been that, for the reason above, teams with good defenses recover more onside kicks. The Steelers and Giants are both VERY good at it. Just an observation though...
  10. I got mine on Amazon in mint condition with original case and instruction manual for $5 total. If you bought it as disc only for $2, you got a good deal. If you bought it complete like me and only paid $2, you got a REALLY good deal.
  11. Well, I played around with the quickness thing some more and, honestly, it doesn't do ANYTHING. I tried switching the 94 quickness stat to the CB's and it made no difference. I tried a couple of other things, still, NO DIFFERENCE. So, I take back everything from my previous post. Sorry if I drove some of you guys nuts bringing it up again
  12. I know this is an old topic, but I was messing around with it today and here is my impression. Quickness does do something, it's just very subtle, as far as I can tell. I did a little experiment using PIT and CLE. The best overall D in the game (PIT) vs. a very subpar O (CLE). I figured it would be easier to appreciate a change if I used a good D. What I did: 1. Set all PIT DL/LB/CB to 6 quickness and left all their stats the same, all white players. 2. Set the Safeties quickness to 94, left all other stats the same, all black players. (Did this so I could tell who was who) --The reason I did this: DL are programmed to move straight ahead after the snap, LB's are about 33/33/33 move straight ahead/ stand still/ drop into coverage. DB's are mostly coverage, even though they do move up when the ball crosses the LOS. With that said, it would be easiest to see a difference between the CB's and Safeties since they aren't engaged with a blocker right away in most instances. 3. I picked the same pass play every time and let the CPU randomly pick a play, as usual. What I noticed: The CB's with 6 quickness responded exactly the same as the Safteties with 94 quickness as far as coverage and reaction to the ball crossing the LOS; HOWEVER, they were not nearly as good in making contact with the ball carrier after he crossed the LOS. I had several plays where the RB/ WR would carry or catch the ball past the LOS and the 6 quickness guys would miss tackles or simply let the ball carrier run by, even though they DID move towards the ball carrier. (Keep in mind, Woodson is a tackling machine.) The 94 quickness guys did miss occasionally, but were alot more successful at making contact with the ball carrier than the 6 quickness guys. It didn't matter if the play was a pass or a run. SO, I guess you can say that quickness affects how good a player is at making contact with the ball carrier. BUT, in the big scheme of things, it doesn't really matter. As long as you have even two or three guys on the D with even average quickness, you won't notice the drop off in ball carrier contact ability. Plus, the ball carrier usually has to get away from at least 3-5 guys on his own anyway. SO, with that said, "YES - Quickness REALLY doesn't do much of anything."
  13. My high score was 105-0 Gia(Man) vs. Phx(Com). My next closest was in the low 90's somewhere. I set both of those years ago. Lately my highest was Min(Man) vs. Atl(Com) 83-0.
  14. You guys aren't going to believe this..., well, maybe you will..., but I have no way of proving it, so here goes. I played a season just last week with the original, unedited TSB, no cheating, no Game Genie, no resetting, using the Steelers playing against COM: Scored on by the Chargers Week 1 and the Bills Week 2. I was not scored on EVER again during the regular season. The next team that scored on me was the Bills in the second round of the playoffs. I gave up a TOTAL of 17 points that regular season. 14 Straight shut-outs. I had 5 games during the regular season where the opposition nearly scored on me. 3 games I either blocked or the COM missed the FG. One game Lake intercepted a TD pass in the endzone, against Cincy, freakin Boomer Esiason. The last of the five I've mentioned the computer had a KR to the three yard line right at the end of the game before one of my computer controlled players tackled him. I nearly had a heart attack... This is far-and-away the BEST season I've ever had defensively. My previous shut out streak was 7-8 games with the Giants.
