  1. wow that's pretty impressive. taken together, the giants LBs are obviously the best foursome in the game. i think their secondary is underrated, though. i usually get 3-5 ints each on the season with guyton, walls, et al. i forgot to mention buffalo in my favorite defenses. i love a good line, and bruce smith might be better than howie long. cornelius is one of the best LBs in the game. also the eagles - i love disrupting flea flickers for fumbles with jerome brown and reggie white.
  2. I've seen invisible ball carriers a few times. It usually happens when a few players are all bunched together and one of them picks up the ball. If the other team's players are faster (defense is usually faster than offense)they will stay with the ball carrier, but won't be able to touch him. also on fumbles, when the other team recovers, sometimes you become unable to dive tackle the player who recovered. When one of your guys manages to start grappling with him, all you can do is stand by and wait to see who wins. The B button just seems to stop having any effect.
  3. Probably the season I just did with Pittsburgh. I'll be posting details of that later today. I allowed less than 100 points on the season, a little more than 500 yards rushing, maybe 1200 yards passing. Ranked number one in all three categories. This was the first time I used Pitt. I am preparing myself to try a no-offense season. It shouldn't be too hard with Pitt since they have no offense anyway, as has been mentioned on this board before, and possibly the best D in the league (Giants and S.F. the only two that might be better). I don't think I'd ever be able to do it with Tampa, though.
  4. For a couple of weeks I thought I recovered my own fumble. Then I saw that someone in another thread mentioned you could have two of the same player on the field at the same time during kickoffs, and I realized this is what happened. I was returning a kick with Kelvin Martin of the Cowboys, who was also in the WR spot. The kick returning Kelvin fumbled, then the WR Kelvin recovered it. It weirded me out because I knew I was still on the ground unable to move. I thought the ball bounced back into me or something. After running several yards in the wrong direction, I realized I had the ball back, turned around, and ran 50 more yards into the endzone. One of the most interesting TDs I've ever gotten.
  5. Hate to say it, but seen this once. LB picked off a deflected pass. It was 2 years ago at an annual tecmo tourny I've held. No video, but multiple people saw this and none of us had ever seen it before, except like maybe one. I wanna say it was either with the lions, giants, or one of the pro bowl teams. Either way it happend in a practice game getting ready for the tournament. I don't believe this either. Most of the time when a pass is deflected it doesn't even hit the ground before the screen cuts back to the playbook. If you're talking about a deflection being shown in a cut scene and then someone has the ball when the field comes back, that I could believe. The cut scenes on my cart have become all kinds of fucked up over the years.
  6. yeah, i vaguely recall seeing that name scattered about the board by the way, beebe, i checked out your site. pretty cool stuff. I remember everybody was showing that play in highlight reels that week. whenever i saw someone showboating like that before that play i always thought it would be great if someone knocked the ball out of their hands. I never paid attention to who the person was that did it. I knew of Beebe from Tecmo, but never really thought that much about him. Good to put a name to a classic play.
  7. This is a cool idea, but against a good defense I've found it to be more effective to just smash the B button on this play so you dump it off to the RB as quickly as possible. Most of the time it's a catch, sometimes he drops it, but it can't be intercepted. This is what I did for the Houston challenge to get 500 yards for Lorenzo. Running over to the defender and knocking him out with the QB is fun, but sometimes the RB takes off before you can throw it to him, then he gets covered again.
  8. Ha! Nice trick, I never tried that before. I always preferred speed to power. Now I have another weapon in my running game. Thanks. I tried a preseason game with the Bears against the Packers, and did all runs and passes with Muster only. He was in good condition, so I pounded the hell out of the Pack in an 87-0 romp. (I have yet to attain the century mark, this score actually might tie my personal best.) By the way, please excuse my ongoing barrage of posts. I've been reading for awhile, but have only just obtained an account. Thanks Rod!
  9. I once had exactly 500 yards rushing with QB Eagles in one game. Didn't throw one pass. Don't remember my stats for the season, but rushing yards were probably around 4000, with passing probably around 1000. Your goal I have never done. When I have one back that far surpasses the others I usually use R&S left and right, and my namesake for the first three run plays. If I were to try 2000/2000/1000 I'd probably use the Giants - Meggett/Anderson/Carthon. With the Raiders if a RB gets hurt I put in Graddy or Brown because Bell and Smith suck. The Bears are definitely a good team to do this with, also. Can't think of any other team with a good shot at this off the top of my head...

  11. This is my first post to the board. Just want to say this is a great idea. My computer situation at the moment means I can't download roms, but when I get a better computer and a better connection, I would love to try this with the Raiders. Did the Raiders have Rice at the end of the 90s, or not until after 2000? Playing Gannon to Rice would be sweet.
