Tecmo-Mad-Brad got a reaction from GameplayLoop in How to pick off the Cap Boso slant route pass
Someone always chirping about this, and how its unstoppable.  We've been picking this off since the 90's.  I put this video together to show the trick.  Get up high then come down at an angle to get the INT.  Just another ploy that doesn't work against a real Tecmo Bowl professional such as myself.  In the future I'll get some video up on how to pick off the Roger Craig slant as well.

Is there anyone that keeps tabs on the tourney results on a regular basis.   I realize there's a ton of tournaments, and certainly there are known commodities in the Tecmo world(Chet/Mort/etc)......but anyone got a data base on who goes out and wins all the different tournaments year after year, along with game records?  I'm sure the Milwaukee tourney is basically the bench mark, but what about the annual Buffalo or Northwest tourneys?

Tecmo-Mad-Brad got a reaction from buck in Contacting Tecmo Programmers....
On a side onte, I forgot to get clarification if this was TSB or not, but he said there's a really subtle bug on the kickoff as its different between player 1 and player 2....the ball doesn't fly right or the same  for player 2 when its kicked off, as it does for player 1 once its kicked.

I just spoke to Larry Hutcherson who was hired by Tecmo mid 1989, and eventually worked a bit on TSB.

He says he doesn't have contact anymore with the Japanese programmers from those days, but said Tecmo didn't treat the programmers very well, and eventually they lost their best programmers to other companies.  He said this came not too long after TSB was released.  That may be part of why Tecmo wouldn't have any info on how to track these guys down...it was not an amicable split.

Tecmo-Mad-Brad got a reaction from Leonard Fournette in Tecmo Bowl 2014 season play
Playoffs are set for possibly thursday July 2nd.  I never went through and posted results here, but we plan on filming an in-depth segment about how the regular season panned out during our get together.

Considering our conflicting life schedules and the fact that we live 2 hours apart, its hard to get in 72 games worth of regular season plan in a timely manner...hence forth it took a year and half to complete a season....which is sort of the norm I guess for us.

I did put this video together though as a feature game we'll talk about on the show and how it had large implications on the league in general.

Tecmo-Mad-Brad got a reaction from buck in Eric Dickerson may be.........
I just won the season 5 championship over the weekend, with the Colts. Beat the Giants in OT in the conf championship game in what was likely the most mentally and emotionally exhausting game i have ever taken part in. We've gotten VERY good with the Colts over the years.
Dickerson is a beast, but theres more to the Colts than meets the eye.

The best dang playbook in the game helps overcome Trudeau's arm. Sit back in that pocket and let all the routes fully develop before throwing the pass. You CAN NOT just go out there gunning away with Trudeau. Gotta have patience. Bill Brooks on Pass 2 catches a ton of balls with that out route by the side line. 6-8 yards a pop. The defense exerts so much energy calling run plays to stop Dickerson that the pass plays are often open. You do have to be crafty though and mix in run calls to keep the defense honest.

The routes are so spread out that LT himself can't cover all 3 when they all get to final depth. Pass 2, when not called by the defense is a great play.

Colts kicking game is awesome. GREAT punter helps them win field position, and Biasucci can nail it from deep.

Bickett leads the defense, best bottom outside LB besides LT. A bunch of gritty workman like defenders on that team. Nobody great, but it forces you to show numerous looks and keep the offense on its heels. With the Colts D over the course of the game you will probbaly play 3 different defenses to keep the offense guessing. You will rock some straight up run call D and be John Hand, some bunk bed D with the DB's and let computer controlled Bickett kill the bottom run play, and also some cat and mouse while going to exclusive pass calls to stop the offense. Freaking LOVE using their D.

Bottom DB Fred Robinson actually has a 17 speed...not good intial or acceleration if I recall right, but great closing speed, and hes a powerful defender who sheds blocks quickly. The Colts defense can do some things!

Again, there's is some severe mastery to get to the level where you are dominant with the Colts, but they are basically my 2nd favorite team to use (behind the Bears) and I'll take em and make a game out of it against any other team in the game.

Sent one out to Mecklenburg the same day as Young....so I'm hopeful.  What I've read online tells me I got a pretty good shot at Meck signing it.  Karl would get me up to 5 carts.

Still no sign of a cart from LT though.

Next cart has arrived.  Seahawks LB Fredd Young.  He's basically the best LB in Tecmo Bowl this side of Lawrence Taylor...and maybe Carl Banks.

Personalized it with #50 Hawks/2 X all pro

Will be a great addition to go with a 1987 Seahawks poster of the week I already own

Regular version of Tecmo was released in USA in FEB of 1989.  In november of 1990, it was released in Japan on the famicom.  Same teams, playbooks, etc...however they made roster updates for the famicom version...therefore those changes made some teams better, worse, etc.  Some teams had their star players in different positions on Japan as opposed to USA version, so it really changed some stuff up in certain match-ups.

Recently got this signed Duane Bickett cart in the mail.  Bickett is one of my favorites on Tecmo.  2nd fastest bottom outside Linebacker after LT, and the Colts have really become my go to team over the years.  For my 1st Tecmo autograph, it's a good starting point.

The media relations guy for the Colts had me send him the cart, and then passed it along to Duane.  About a week and a half later I got the signed cart back in the mail.  Funny thing is, my wife was disappointed that Duane didn't include a note or anything.  I guess she wanted us to start up a bromance or something.....

I included a handwritten note, and had a page with some Tecmo screen shots of Duane on defense picking off a Kosar pass.  I included a little info about the game and why its popular still to this day.  I asked him to personalize the cart how he saw fit, so he included "#50 Colts" which was a nice touch.

Just sent another cart out on Monday to the Redskins home office.  Doug Williams is working in player personnel for them now, so hopefully he will sign as well.  I included some Tecmo screen shots of him throwing to Sanders, Clark, and Didier, along with a short letter of congratulations on his return to the Skins and such.

Other targets I'm looking at are Elway and Ozzie Newsome, since they still work for NFL organizations, and are easy to contact.

If Williams comes through, I'll post a pic.

Doug Williams came through.  Signed it and included "Super Bowl 22 MVP".  Nice personalized touch.

I'll post more autographs as I get them.  I'll probably put together some sort of display in a shadow box or something when I get a few more.  There are engraved name plates on ebay for a lot of former players, which I'll probably add to each signed cart for the display.  My goal is to get 1 signed by a player from each of the 12 teams.

On a side note, I'm friends with 49ers DT Michael Carter on facebook, and he blew off my autograph request via messaging there.  Time to bring out the heavy artillery and make a youtube video chronicling the greatness that is Michael Carter, and why he needs to come through with an autograph.

Stone cold Tecmo Bowl legend/killer and kick return specialist Dennis Gentry autograph came in the mail today.  He even asked if I could get him a Tecmo Bowl cartridge in the letter he included....

Ask and ye shall receive Mr Gentry!  I'll get one in the mail.  He probably assumes the game is super rare based on its age....i guess.

The flash makes it a little hard to read, and he personalized it with #29 Bears.

I also sent a cartridge out to the home of the one and only LT.....we'll see if he comes through.
