  1. Amazing work Brud! Thank you!! See you Friday night bub!
  2. Give me the OVER in a runaway! Great read Ryan!
  3. He does have another hot date... ... but, he is of the male persuasion this time around. he likes to keep it interesting indeed.
  4. I've got to try to make it up to one of yours Louis. Hopefully it's in the cards this year.
  5. I want in on this. Michigan makes some great beers, but I think much of it is distributed in other states. Are there any suggestions anyone might have? Some good breweries that I like to utilize: Founders, Shorts, Bells, Greenbush, Vivant. Hell, I even work at one - Rochester Mills. Our brews are so-so compared to others.
  6. What gives you the impression that you are the 2 seed? I read somewhere that little is known about Leif Powers gaming skill. My sense tells me that you are the #1 seed in Group 5 Rico. But I could be wrong. I'm excited to be in a group with Ashman, and Leonardite! Anything that involves Dr.Frolf or Leonardite is fun in my book.
  7. Before hosting 4 Kumite tournaments in Detroit, I hosted the lone Chicago tournament on the books, and we drew 50 guys on that October afternoon in 2010. I got a ton of help with format and organization on game day from Bailey and the Holzbauers, as I learned: you just can't do things on your own, let alone, with that many guys. As the days leading up to the last Madison tournament close in on us, I think more and more about what is next? I've had discussions over the years with a handful of guys about how Chicago ultimately is a great location to host a tournament. Count me in on the (hopeful) vast planning committee!
  8. RBI 2016, any ETA? Looking fwd to playing it on Wii! Thank you sooo very much, ahead of time. Really appreciate all the hard work through the years!
  9. It was a wild day and night in Auburn Hills. Everyone did an amazing job keeping everything together as the storm hit of the Pistons/Warriors pregame crowd arrived. I'm so thankful to have great people a part of this thing every year from the players to organizers, OToole, Chas, Moskwa, etc. The staff at Hoops remained courteous to us (at least to me personally), despite the challenges that they had faced, as we condensed our space of taking up over half of the establishment, down to a small island of TVs by 5pm. The tourney saw two-time defending champ Regulator, start off his day with losses to Bradbears, and Luckytool, and facing elimination beginning in Round 4. By the 6th round of play, we had reached our 8 man, single elimination field, seed based on record. Having not lost on the day, Moskwa won the draw, earning the top seed, followed by 2) Bradbears 0L, 3) Ones11fahzu (0L), 4) Ol' Dirty Tecmo (aka Diaz, 0L), 5) Luckytool (1L), 6) ODell (1L), 7) Louis B. (2L), #8) Regulator (2L). Moskwa likely would have rather not "earned" the top seed most likely, as of course he squares off with the 2-time champ Regulator. Kyle's Giants block an XP, and never relenquish the lead, taking down Joe and his Eagles 21-13. In other action 3) Ones (NO) knocks out ODell (PHX), for the 2nd straight year, 17-7; 4) Diaz (WAS) defeats Luckytool (MIN) 20-6; 2) Bradbears (DET) defeats Louis B. (MIN) 14-10. In the Final Four: both games went to OT, and were decided by the same outcome: Regulator (NYG) defeats Diaz (BUF), and Ones (MIA) defeats Bradbears (CIN), each by a 24-21 count. Brothers square off in the final as Regulator takes on Ones11fahzu. Matt calls a TB/DAL matchup, and Kyle triumphs with a 21-14 victory, earning his 3rd Tecmo Kumite Title! Congratulations Kyle, and quite a feat, and the entire family for that matter on a great run! Everyone who participated in the Kumite IV, that did not make the Elite 8, was eligible to participate in a consolation tournament as well. We raffled off a number of prizes, and the winner of the consolation tournament took home first choice of the prizes as well. Jason P. defeated James H. to win the consolation tournament. Congratulations Jason! A tremendous thank you to everyone who participated, and to all of the tournament organizers as well. We could not have done it without you guys. It was a great tournament, despite the working conditions we had to deal with. I promise, we will not put ourselves up against that next year, and we'll be back better than ever. See you guys in Madison!
  10. Thanks man, same to you! One of these days I will have to try and get up to your tourney. Best of luck with it, and hope to chat with you in Madison!

  12. This is based purely on my own speculation, but based on email conversations with Toolie, I imagine he is 80-90% IN, and will be 100% aware of this 1/20 deadline.
  13. Official Kumite tournament format details are being finalized. I felt it was a good time to reach out to our participants, and sent out a quick message. We will be hosting a Tecmo sparring session on Thursday night at Hoops 1/14. We should be rocking by about 8pm for anyone that would like to come on up, and get in a few rounds. Also, feel free to bring your equipment, to allow more people to participate We generally have our event streamed in some capacity, and have been thankful for some great guys to step up and help out with this project. However this year, we don't have our good friends in attendance to help out, as of now, and was curious whether someone wanted to take over the reigns for Kumite IV and help get this streamed out to the Tecmo community. We generally have had this up on twitch.tv, but we are open to other ideas as well. Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend for Tecmo Kumite IV! Tourney participant list updated on the post above.

ADDITIONAL TOURNEY FORMAT DETAILS TO COME. DETROIT TECMO KUMITE IV: TOURNAMENT RULES 1. Tournament Format – Every player in the tournament will play one game per round. A random draw will determine each player’s opponent for the round. A player is eliminated from the tournament when they have accumulated three losses. (NEW RULE) - However, in an attempt to speed up the tournament, and also get a few of you to hang around longer to watch the finale; Once we are down to 8 or less competitors, the tournament will be a single elimination format, with competitors previous records wiped from the slate. The last player remaining will be declared the champion. 2. Byes - If there are an odd number of players at the start of a round, then one player will receive a bye (this will be determined through the random draw). Any player who has previously received N byes will be ineligible for another bye unless all other remaining players have also received N byes. 3. Team Selection: Each game (including who is Player 1 and who is Player 2) will be determined by a random draw at the start of each round. For each game, Player 1 will choose the matchup (i.e. the two teams). Player 2 then selects their preferred team. 4. “One Matchup Once” Rule: Players may only select a particular matchup once throughout the entire tournament. For instance, if Player 1 selects Packers/Browns, this person cannot call that exact matchup for the rest of the tournament. Player 2, however, is free to select that matchup later in the tournament. 5. Customizing Playbooks and Lineup Changes: Customizing playbooks is permissible. You may access your “change” screen (screen where you check player conditions and make substitutions) only twice per half. This helps speed up the games. 6. WR/TE at RB. Playing with a WR or TE at RB is strictly prohibited. A WR or TE is able to play in the RB2 slot, but ONLY a RB can receive direct handoffs or pitches. The only time a WR or TE can run the ball is on a reverse. Outside of this: RB, WR, and TE are interchangeable. 7. Ties: Ties are not permitted in this tournament. If a game ends in a tie after overtime, a new game will begin, and the first player to score in the new game is the winner. 8. Lurching: Lurching is strictly prohibited. If you want to rush with a DL, you must either go outside the offensive tackles or “popcorn” someone on the offensive line. You may not simply go around your blocker and dive. Note that this rule does not apply to LBs. 9. Nintendo Malfunctions: If there is an equipment failure in the first half, games will be replayed from the start. If equipment malfunctions in the 2nd half, only the second half is replayed. In that event, the scores from each half are added together to obtain a final score. If the game was uncompetitive or the equipment malfunctioned due to human error, the tourney organizers reserve the right to declare a winner without replaying any portion of the game. 10. Tournament Disputes: Eric O’Dell and Matt O’Toole are the tournament referees. They will decide all disputes unless one of them is a player in the game. If one or both is a player in the disputed game, Joe Moskwa or Chas Claus will resolve the dispute. 11. Equipment: Tournament competitors are encouraged to bring any and all equipment they are able to, including: NES, TSB cart, controllers, ac adapters, RF or RCA wires, extension cords, power strips, and most importantly small sized televisions. Please keep in mind, we may be in need of said equipment for the duration of the event. ONLY basic NES controllers are welcome, no turbo, etc. If you plan on bringing any equipment, please plan on arriving 30 minutes in advance to help set up. We thank you in advance for anything you are able to assist the tournament with! 12. Entry Fee, and Prizes: Tournament entry fee will be $20 per participant. Cash prizes for places TBD based on participants, with the winner taking home the Kumite Cup! One participant per every 10 will earn cash a prize is a strong rule of thumb at the Kumite however.
  20. I don't think I have either. I'm aware of it's popularity, but somehow that dynasty escaped my youth!
