    Great thanks!! I figured out how to do it! I’m gonna be working on an update especially after today’s trade deadline. It’s gonna take a lot of work and time and I’ll be doing it between work. Do you have experience in ROM hacking?? Would love to have some help with this game. I recently have been finding out a lot more about it.

    Yep I've worked on a bunch of games (check out my signature).  But sorry, I'm knee deep in NBA JAM: On Fire Edition and I simply don't have time for another project.  But I'll happily play test!

    I would love to get them. I’m not quite sure how to change the skins yet but hope to figure out how to do it. Any help you want to offer would be great!

    Damn, I didn't get an email about your reply.  I just corrected my notification settings.

    I hope you (or anyone) can figure out how to change skin color.  Besides the skin color mismatches below, CLE Tristan Thompson's seem to be for a different player.

  3. NFL Blitz 20-17

    ========================================
    NFL Blitz 20-17 BETA v1
    Update for NFL Blitz 20-03 on GameCube
    by johnz1
    ========================================

    === RELEASE NOTES ===
    This is an incomplete update for the GameCube version of NFL Blitz 20-03.  It is meant to be played using the Dolphin emulator.  The rosters are accurate as of the end of the 2016 NFL season.  The player ratings have been updated using the Madden 17 ratings that EA publishes online.  Player ratings have the same overall distribution as the original Blitz 20-03 game.  Most helmets, uniforms, and mid-field logos have also been updated.

    This is a beta release because there are major things I have not yet figured out to change.  I would REALLY like help figuring out how to change these things:
    - Player skin color
    - Team schedules
    - General player size (height & weight can be adjusted, but there's also a size category that can make them very thick and wide, like a fullback)
    - Player name assignment for the announcer
    - Jersey number and name color/style

    === INSTALLATION ===
    This update requires that you own NFL Blitz 20-03 for GameCube, and have an ISO file of the game.  If you do not own the game or do not have the ISO, please DO NOT ASK FOR THE GAME.

    To play this game with the updated graphics, you must use the Dolphin emulator:
    https://dolphin-emu.org/

    To update the rosters and ratings, you must edit the ISO file by injecting the files included in the "ISO Files" directory.  This process requires GCRebuilder:
    http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/619/

    1. Make a copy of your NFL Blitz 20-03 ISO file, and name it something like "NFL Blitz 20-17.iso".
    2. Right-click on GCRebuilder and select "Run as Administrator".
    3. Click on the "Image" menu at the top and select "Open".
    4. Find the ISO file you created in step 1 and select it.
    5. In the file browser on the right, right-click "opening.bnr" and select "Import".  Find the "ISO Files" directory included in this update package and select "opening.bnr".
    6. Repeat Step 5 for the "teamdata.zip" file.
    7. Repeat Step 5 for the "Start.dol" file, which is inside of the "&&SystemData" folder.
    8. Click on the "Image" menu at the top and select "Close".

    At this point, the ISO has been patched, but the graphics and textures need to be placed into the appropriate Dolphin directory in order to be loaded:

    1. Find the Dolphin "User" directory.  If you have a regular Dolphin installation, the Dolphin directory will be in your Documents folder, and "User" will be under that.  If you have a portable installlation of Dolphin, the "User" directory is created in the Dolphin directory when you first launch the application.
    2. Find the "Dolphin Files" folder that is included in this update package.  Copy the "User" folder into your Dolphin folder.  If you have opened Dolphin before, it should overwrite the existing "User" folder.  This will only copy the textures for this game, and won't erase or overwrite anything else.

    By default, Dolphin does not enable custom textures.  This option must be changed in the graphics settings:
    1. Click the Options menu at the top and select "Graphics Settings"
    2. Go to the "Advanced" tab
    3. Check the box for "Load Custom Textures"

    I also recommend the following graphics options:
    - Aspect Ratio: Stretch to Window
    - Widescreen Hack: Enabled
    - Use Fullscreen: Enabled
    - V-Sync: Enabled
    - Hide Mouse Cursor: Enabled
    - Internal Resolution: At least 2x (set higher if your system can handle it)

    they have no competition and no comparison

    That's exactly it.  Madden is the only source that I know of for any kind of up-to-date ranking of every single player in dozens of categories.  I only know two NFL teams very well, so I'm certainly not qualified to make ratings for every player, and certainly don't have the time even if I did.

    In practice, I use the madden ratings as relative ratings.  The exact numerical values don't really matter, each rating is really just a ranking of every player, per category.  I set thresholds for every rating, to convert from Madden to Blitz.  The thresholds are set in order to make a distribution that is close to the original rating distribution of the original game.  For example, an 80 pass accuracy in Madden 16 is an 88 pass accuracy in Blitz.

    I'm not asking how. Why is OP not downloading the two spreadsheets and combining them to get all the info he needs?

    I've already combined them and have the data I need.  Really the questions I have are:

    1) Where are people getting the jersey #'s from, since none of these spreadsheets have that.  I realize that this can be grabbed from any site that has team roster data, but manual data input even for one column takes forever when there are 576 players.

    2) Is there a community spreadsheet that everyone uses that has all of the Madden ratings - the answer appears to be no.

    The first link has kicking power and kicking accurracy....and on the whole Madden has way  more ratings then you can really use for tecmo...

    I'm making a Blitz 03 update, which has more ratings than Tecmo (but still way less than Madden).  There are definitely more ratings in Madden than are needed, but even with the dozens of categories none of them include the jersey #'s.

  6. FYI I've decided to do an update for this season.  The rosters and ratings are done (for now).  I want to update more of the graphics.  The first thing is the on-field logos.  All of the mid-field graphics have been updated.  I'm working on the endzone logos now.  That may be it.  Haven't figured out any of the big unknowns yet (skin color, player size, jersey number color/style), and I'm not really looking into it anymore.

  7. With so many people using Madden ratings for their roms, I'm curious to know where people get the Madden ratings from.  Unlike previous years, I'm having a hard time finding one great source that has all of the ratings.  Is there a spreadsheet that is shared and generally used by everyone?  If not, it would be a great resource to have this.  Here's what I've found so far:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14ewQSm2uv85BIs1C1raa6fkIY9q47ckXZFfRrlNcyq0/edit?usp=sharing
    * Missing height, weight, jersey number.  Madden 17 launch ratings only.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17_PJV-vWoTMDnVE-fnnjE2qt51OJo7FrvdkG-Baja_8/edit#gid=170817166

    * Missing some important ratings like Kicking Power and Kicking Accuracy.  Madden 17 launch ratings only.

    https://www.easports.com/madden-nfl/player-ratings/

    * Not a spreadsheet.  No easy way to export the data into a usable form.  Seems to be the only source that is updated weekly.

  8. Here's all the player info that I found in the game files:

    http://pastebin.com/dKTtXbNu

    Attached to this post is the team name and position file for editing teamdata.zip in Hex On Steroids.  I just made this file, and will certainly include it in the next release.  If you haven't used HOS, definitely try it out.  It makes editing hex data very easy.  I used a spreadsheet to convert Madden 16 stats into a format that I could simply paste into HOS.

    I'll take a look at NFLBlitzFans.com and make a post - thanks!

    Quick question, does enabling the Widescreen Hack cause popping issues for anyone?

    Running Dolphin build 4.0-8721, and players on the edge of the screen often suddenly pop in, as if the game still really runs in 4x3.

    This is expected, because the game doesn't natively have a widescreen mode - this is a hack that changes the camera's field of view and renders more of the 3D field.  I'm not sure how to technically explain the rest, but essentially the game still thinks it's 4:3, so the things outside of 4:3 aren't rendered until they come into that 4:3 area.

    well I think there are some emulators that would let you use custom textures? I might have to look into that anyway great work.

    To be clear, I was replying to the question about using a modded Wii to play this.  Playing on the Wii, you wouldn't be able to use the modified textures.  If your using an emulator (Dolphin), you definitely can use the new textures.

    NFL Blitz 20-16 BETA v2
    Update for NFL Blitz 20-03 on GameCube

    ========================================

    === RELEASE NOTES ===
    This is an incomplete update for the GameCube version of NFL Blitz 20-03.  This is meant to be played using the Dolphin emulator.  The rosters are based on the 2015 Week 1 rosters, but QB's, RB's, and WR's have been updated to the end of the season.  The player ratings have been updated using the Madden 16 Week 4 ratings.  Ratings have the same overall distribution as the original game.  Most helmets and uniforms have also been updated.

    However, this release is a beta because there are major things I have not yet figured out.  I would REALLY like help with these, because the game isn't the same without these changed:
    - Player skin color
    - Team schedules
    - General player size (height & weight can be adjusted, but there's also a size category that can make them very thick and wide like a fullback)
    - Player name assignment for the announcer
    - Jersey number color and style

    Players who had season-ending injuries before Week 1 were excluded from this update:
    Matt Elam, S, Baltimore
    Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Carolina
    Orlando Scandrick, CB, Dallas
    Jordy Nelson, WR, Green Bay
    Louis Delmas, S, Miami
    Phil Loadholt, OT, Minnesota

  12. A couple name fixes:

    - Chad "Johnson" has a bunch of spaces between his first & last name, so that in Player Data it reads "CHAD OCHOCINCO"

    - Antwaan Randle El's last name shows up only as "EL" during gameplay. There's probably no way to tell the game to display "RANDLE EL", so maybe make his name "RANDLE-EL"?

    Lovin the rom, btw
