  1. Jeff Query WR Packers I'll have to find a pic to scan, but his Tecmo likeness is dead on.
  2. Hey everyone... I had some server issues with tecmotournament.com and it's parent site, envyband.com. But it's back up and running now. Right now, I'm debating between one of the last two Sunday's in April. We just had a large article printed up about it in the local newspaper, and I'm waiting to see how many folks register after seeing that. I'll pick a "for sure" date by the end of the week. Stay tuned!
  3. Has anyone seen it?! Good Lord, it's a thing of legend. The Mighty Bombjack show would rival any form of halftime entertainment that they could cook up today. What I love about Tecmo is how they made it special when you made it to, and won, the Super Bowl. The change in music, the Mighty Bombjack Show, the ending credits. It all makes it worthwhile...which can't be said for alot of newer games today. Other than that, my most favorite and memorable quirk about Tecmo Super Bowl is the fact that you can miss both a 60 yard and 90 yard field goal by only a couple feet.
  4. Yes, in fact, please do! The main reason why I'm asking for a registration is to see who is available and when. I'll make my decision on the date/time for the tournament based on the registration results. Fairly soon I'll start communication with everyone and hammer a date out. I'm also considering throwing up a message board on the tournament site to allow more effective communication. At the very least a spot to "comment" on the latest new/updates or on various other sections. So...once again, please register...and we'll figure out a date sometime down the road. Thanks again.
  5. I still pretty much exclusively use the 'ole NES. As far as keeping my system working, I keep it clean. Also, I use a Game Genie. Not for cheating, but because it makes a better contact with the connector pins inside the NES...therefore your games will pretty much work 99% of the time on the first try.
  6. I always loved playing against the Carninals, because over 50% of the time they'd run that stupid "reverse/fake-reverse/reverse-fleaflicker" set of plays.
  7. I'd like to play Tecmo against Steve Grogan.
  8. Sweet deal, man. Thanks for the compliments about the band. As far as the NES controller...it's just a normal (and functioning) controller I hang from my set during live shows. Our guitarist mod'ed an NES Advantage to function as a working guitar pedal. It's pretty sweet. Thanks for registering for the tourny. Hopefully we can pick a date soon.
  9. Well, I'm looking to base the date of the tournament on the availability results I get via the registration forms. I'd prefer it to be a Wednesday evening, just because it would work out perfectly with my schedule, as far as having time to set things up. ...but as previously stated, it depends on when people can make it. ...and I'll take any publicity I can get, thanks.
  10. UPDATE: http://www.tecmotournament.com has been registered, and is active as far as I can tell. Hopefully a few regional members of the online Tecmo community can stop by and check it out. Thanks again.
  11. Hi everyone... I'm just letting you all know that there will is a Tecmo Super Bowl tournament being organized in Platteville, WI. Platteville lies in the southwest corner, near cities like Dubuque, IA and Galena, IL. The tournament will be held within the next couple months. There is currently a website hosted for it at http://tecmo.envyband.com And, I just registered tecmotournament.com to act as it's domain name. If you are from the area, and would like to take part in the tournament, please apply online on the website. Thank you very much.
  12. I can't remember if I read it on this board or not... ...but I've heard speculation that the programmers accidentally mixed up the player ratings between Bob Nelson and Tim Harris. I'm feeling that this is the most likely explanation, as Tim Harris was a pretty unstoppable force in the late 80's...and on TSB, his ratings don't reflect that so much. Wheras Bob Nelson...a mediocre nose tackle...shouldn't NOT have the abilities that he does.
  13. Don Majkowski runs a real estate investment company in Atlanta, GA. Brian Noble is a sports analyst for WTMJ in Milwaukee. Boomer Esiason works as an analyst for CBS.
  14. One phrase... "BUY A GAME GENIE". It is the single best investment you can make for your NES console. The way that the game genie slides in and connects to your system is such that it makes good contact with the connector pins. (The connector pins are the flaw of the NES system, they wore out too easily). I garuntee that if you run your NES games through a Game Genie, you will have continued success of games working "on the first try" with no blinking...or blowing into your cartriges. Also, just use common sense and practice general maintanence of your system. Clean the connectors, keep it in a dry place...and everything will work just fine.
  15. Bob Nelson...Nose Tackle for the Packers. The BEST lurker in Tecmo.
