  1. Job well done, Rodman. I saw a co-worker pull up Tecmo Super Bowl on his phone the other night and it put me in the mood to find a ROM and light it up with Aaron Rodgers in advance of the NFC Championship this weekend. Your reviews helped me find the ROM I needed.
  2. Is it possible to play a second player locally, or is that option only available in online play? My wife is a Tecmo Super Bowl fan and I am hoping to play against her, but within the friendly confines of our home. Thanks in advance to everyone for their help.
  3. Bernie Kosar (good 'ole QB Browns) has filed for bankruptcy: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4272998 Should we start passing that hat for him?
  4. Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff is on sale for $9.99 this week at Best Buy. There are other DS cames, PS3 games, Wii games and XBox 360 games on sale for $9.99 too. If you don't already have the game, $9.99 may not be too bad of a price.
  5. I'm not sure if you can still find it in stores, but I know that game has been re-tooled and re-released. I like you played that when I was little and had to pick up the new game when I saw it. It's the same old blinking red lights and all, I hope you are able to find one.
  6. That is pretty sweet. I wonder what print advertising, if any, Tecmo will come up with for the new Tecmo game coming out later this year.
  7. I doesn't get much better than that. Well done, Big Red.
  8. I saw this at http://www.gamepro.com and was pretty impressed: http://www.playmessiah.com/products/cla ... onsole.htm If you still have a copy of Tecmo Super Bowl but your NES has long since went down the tubes, this new console may be worth a shot. The fact it includes wireless controllers is also pretty sweet. Sorry if this is old news or has already been posted to death, but I saw it and thought it was pretty cool.
  9. I did not join "Club Bo," but somehow got my hands on the t-shirt when I was younger. What I wouldn't give to still have that one around.
  10. That is awesome...how long have you been collecting them? Are you shooting for authentic jerseys, or will replica jerseys work too?
  11. I was a fan of Jerome Bettis. He was very quick in Tecmo Super Bowl III, not so much "the bus."
  12. Deion Sanders smoked some crack once. He picked off a pass and I nearly outran the screen with him on the interception return...about 95 yards if I remember correctly. It was pretty wild.
  13. My wife and I play Tecmo Super Bowl when we go back to my parents' house. We played on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Super Bowl Sunday.
  14. Phil Simms isn't in the Hall of Fame yet. He's been eligible for a few years but hasn't gotten the nod.
  15. You are correct, Offtackle, this was with the default playbook. I wish I could remember who I used most times on defense, though obviously I couldn't do anything with them.
  16. Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I hope all of you had a good one. I hope things weren't too bad, broncosfan. My sister-in-law is a Vikings fan, so my wife played as the Vikings. I decided to play as the Raiders. I came out on top, 33-14. My wife isn't too bad, but she struggles with changing between receivers during pass plays.
  17. So, almost two years later, here is a recap of what happened in the playoffs. I played these games quite a while ago, but wrote this stuff down. I imagine I drew a bye in the first round of the playoffs, and took on Miami in the second round. Playoffs: 23-0 over Miami...Dan Marino did not have the magic on that day, as the Colts prevailed. After a scorless first quarter, Jeff George found Pat Beach on an 18-yard touchdown with 4:45 to play in the quarter. The Colts later added a safety and lead 9-0 at halftime. George added a seven-yard touchdown run with 45 seconds remaining in the third quarter to give Indianapolis a 16-0 lead. George and Bill Brooks connected in the fourth quarter to account for the final score. Playoffs: 42-45 OT loss to Houston...Without a doubt one of the wildest games of Tecmo Super Bowl I have ever played. Warren Moon tore me apart, to put it nicely. Moon connected with Drew Hill to open the scoring with 4:06 left in the first quarter. The Colts responded, as George found Bill Brooks on a 26-yard touchdown with 1:49 left in the first quarter. George threw an interception on Indy's ensuing possesion and Moon scored on a touchdown run with no time left on the clock in the first quarter. END FIRST QUARTER: Indianapolis 7, Houston 21 The Colts climbed back into the game in the second quarter thanks to a 27 yard touchdown pass from George to Brooks. Drew Hill was injured with 1:32 left in the first half, but Lorenzo White found the endzone on a touchdown run with 1:24 left in the second quarter. Indianapolis managed a score with no time left in the first half thanks to a touchdown pass from George to Pat Beach. END SECOND QUARTER: Indianoplis 21, Houston 28 Miraculously, Indianpolis tied the game in the third quarter thanks to a 27 yard catch and run by Albert Bently with 3:44 to play in the quarter. After a Houston three-and-out, Indianapolis took the lead thanks to a touchdown pass from George to Ivy Joe Hunter with 44 seconds to play in the quarter. END THIRD QUARTER: Indianapolis 35, Houston 28 Houston tied the game with 3:28 left in the fourth quarter when Moon found Tony Jones for a touchdown. The Colts answered and re-took the lead when George found Jessie Hester with 2:20 left in regulation. Indiapolis could not hold the lead, however, as White ran into the endzone with 21 seconds left. END FOURTH QUARTER: Indianapolis 42, Houston 42 I can't remember who won the toss for overtime, but obviously Houston kicked a winning field goal. Jeff George completed 75 percent of his passes for 324 yards and six touchdowns in the losing effort. He did throw two interceptions. So there you have it...the day the Houston Oilers became my daddy.
  18. On Tuesday my wife of less than three weeks suggested that she and I play Tecmo Super Bowl when we return to my parents for Thanksgiving. I think I have a keeper.
  19. Correct, you can play PS1 games on a PS2. Nice find with all of those hockey games.
  20. I paid $1.99 at Gamespot (I think) for Tecmo Super Bowl for the Playstation. I played a game against my girlfriend and it was pretty fun. I took on the computer and I was crushed by the colts. I was the St. Louis Rams...it was ugly. Then I tried the Steelers against the Jets. The Jets are bad and I learned that Kordell Stewart is Tecmo Super Bowl for the Playstation's answer to Vince Young. He was an animal.
  21. As Green Bay I took on the 49ers in the playoffs. It was raining...and it might as well been raining fire because nothing went right and I lost, 49-0.
  22. I attended a flea market over the weekend in Iowa and bought a copy of Tecmo Super Bowl II: Special Edition for $11.99 plus tax. I didn't get a chance to buy the game was it was briefly on shelves when I was younger, so I was pretty excited. I took the game home, hooked up the SNES and immediately played my girlfriend. I played as the Lions, she as the Vikings. I came out on top, thank goodness. I noticed that Detroit's put return is pretty dangerous, as Barry Sanders is the man who gets the ball. Hopefully I will come across one of those tipped interceptions sometime soon.
  23. On Saturday I met former Green Bay Packer quarterback Don Majkowski at a golf show in Madison, Wis. Majkowski is being inducted into the Packer Hall of Fame this summer. He will also be doing some analyst work for a sports-talk radio station out of Milwaukee and is negotiating to be on t.v. While talking to him while getting an autograph, I mentioned to him that he was a pretty good player in Tecmo Super Bowl. He said he didn't know that. He was polite and signed whatever people brought and took pictures with people if they asked.
  24. I gave up a lot of points in a recent season I played with the Colts (check out the "Jeff George shall lead us..." post for details). However, I don't feel as bad because I won the Super Bowl with the Patriots, stomping the 49ers. I feel your pain with the Steelers. They pounded me as the Colts, 31-7.
  25. Week 10: 42-28 over Dolphins.....Indianapolis bounces back after losing two of their last three games by trouncing Miami. George outduels Dan Marino by completing 77% of his passes for 342 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. Beach leads the team receiving, hauling in six catches for 169 yards and three touchdowns. Week 11: 30-26 over Jets.....Indianapolis avenges an ealier loss to New York. George completes 68% of his passes for 233 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Brooks catches two passes for 84 yards and one touchdown. George scores the game-winning touchdown on a run with 10 seconds left in the game. Week 12: 38-27 over Bears.....George plays well again, completing 64% of his passes while tossing five touchdowns and one interception. Brooks catches three passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Week 13: 30-27 over Packers.....George takes on the legendary Don Majkowski and wins. George completes 78% of his passes for 316 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Brooks catches four passes for 191 yards. Bentley runs four times for 25 yards and two touchdowns. Week 14: 28-27 over Browns.....A blocked extra-point is the difference. George completes 80% of his passes while throwing for 316 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Brooks catches three passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns. George runs seven times for 49 yards and one touchdown. Week 15: 27-7 over Patriots.....George's spectacular season comes to a halt in the second quarter when he is injured on a scramble. George still leads the team in passing, completing 80% of his passes for 165 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in limited action. Brooks grabs four passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns. Week 16: 24-27 loss to Bills.....Trudeau and the Colts fall to the Bills. Buffalo improves to 14-1, winning the AFC East with the victory. Trudeau completes 63% of his passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Brooks hauls in four catches for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Trudeau runs six times for 30 yards and a touchdown. Jesse Hester fumbles in Bills territory on what would have been the game-winning drive with under 1:00 remaining. Week 17: 37-21 over Bucs.....George returns from injury, needing three touchdown passes to tie Dan Marino's mark for touchdown passes in a season. George tops the mark, completing 65% of his passes while throwing for 311 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. Brooks concludes his season by catching three passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns. ---------- Jeff George finishes the season the number one rated passer in the NFL. George: 151/222 • 68% • 4673 yards • 21.0 avg. • 50 TD • 12 INT • 199.0 rating Bill Brooks has one of the best seasons I have ever had with any receiver in Tecmo Super Bowl. Brooks: 55 catches • 2,776 yards • 50.4 avg. • 38 TD Brooks was second only to Jerry Rice in catches. Rice caught 59 passes. ---------- I will give a recap of the wild-and-crazy playoffs when I get a chance.
