Well this explains a lot.  33.  No wonder I lose every grapple.  I could probably do just as well without fingers.

    I can see it now:

        Wife: What are you doing?

        Nos: I'm tapping!

        Wife: I can't feel anything.

Nos: I can't go any faster!

    Time to practice.

I like the idea of a third place prize more than a group play prize. Group play already matters for seeding, and could end up being the same person winning. Plus with a third place prize, even if you lose in semis, there will be a money game to play between the two people that lost in semis. I think it's more fun that way than being one game away from the finals and not having a chance to play a "money game" for anything.

Appreciate the kudos to be ranked 1A.  I'll be back at the tournaments (won't be at Swamp Bowl II unfortunately), and plan to host one in New Orleans as well before 2015 is complete.

This is solely based on the guys who regularly attend tournaments in the ArkLaTex area (at least 2 known tournaments within the last year).  Ranking the top players that have attended regularly.

    Rankings

#1A.  Nos - He placed 2nd in his first ever live tournament and placed 1st in his second tournament.  His dive tackles are unrivaled.  I see him winning more tournaments if he continues to attend.

    Tournaments attended:

Swamp Bowl I - 2nd Place - Lost to BgBoud

    Cajun Classic 2014 - 1st Place

#1B. Kweh aka Neerm - He has attended Madison in the past but the 2 that took place in the ArkLaTex region were Tecmo Texas I & II. He placed 2nd in Tecmo Texas I and 1st in Tecmo Texas II. Very fast tapper.  It would be an epic battle if he and Nos meet at a tournament.

    Tournaments attended:

Tecmo Texas I - 2nd Place - Lost to BgBoud

Tecmo Texas II - 1st Place

#3. BgBoud - He has been a force in ArkLaTex for some time now and has always ranked near the top on a consistent basis.  His antics during games makes it a joy to watch as he is intense as it gets when playing Tecmo. He has had a little hiccup in the last couple tournaments but he is still quite the competitor and is always a favorite to win.

    Tournaments attended:

    Tecmo Texas I - 1st Place

    Swamp Bowl I - 1st Place

Cajun Classic 2014 - 3rd Place - Lost to Ashman

Tecmo Texas II - 4th Place - Lost to Kweh

#4. Ashman - Ashman is a top contender but hasnt locked down the top spot in a little while. He has won tournaments in the past but he hasn't cracked that top spot recently. He has shown the ability to get into his opponents head with playcalling, but it hasn't translated to a win.

    Tournaments attended:

Tecmo Texas I - Top 4 - Lost to BgBoud

Swamp Bowl I - 3rd Place - Lost to Nos

Cajun Classic 2014 - 2nd Place - Lost to Nos

Tecmo Texas II - 3rd Place - Lost to Pookie Pookums

#5. Chad N. - Chad was a heavy contender at one time but it seems like Tecmo is in his rearview mirror. He is still a very good player, but he needs to stay in practice to contend with the top talent.

    Tournaments attended:

Cajun Classic 2014 - 5th Place - Lost to Ashman

    S.W.La 2015 (Farewell Tourney) - 1st Place

#6. SuicideKing - SK has fought the good fight and has played hard but it hasn't translated into any wins. He has played 4 of the top five players extremely close but just hasn't broke through.  He is always up with the top players but is just a step behind them.

    Tournaments attended:

Swamp Bowl I - 4th Place - Lost to Nos

Cajun Classic 2014 - 4th Place - Lost to Ashman

Tecmo Texas II - Top 8 - Lost to BgBoud

    S.W.La 2015 (Farewell Tourney) - 2nd Place - Lost to Chad N.

Players worth mentioning (They don't meet the requirements and have to prove they deserve to be ranked):

Pookie Pookums - 2nd at Tecmo Texas II. Allegedly the fastest tapper in the south.

BigHock - He has reemerged on the Tecmo scene and plans to attend tournaments in the area.

Jack H. - He was once a force in ArkLaTex but has gone M.I.A. the last couple of years.

    Fun tournament.

I'll provide a recap of my games.

    Pool Play

    Game 1

    Nos (Chiefs) vs. Chad (Bears)

I take a 21-14 lead into the 4th quarter of what was an extremely close game throughout.  In the 4th, Chad scores and forces a pick and scores again for the 28-21 victory.  He played pretty great in this one, but it was anyone's game.  Chad ran 39 times in this one.

    Game 2

    Nos vs. Sparkle

I was Tampa Bay, but I don't remember the matchup.  Lost the coin toss, so it was chosen from the tier cards.  I win on the mercy rule 28-0 in the second quarter.

    Game 3

    Nos vs. Brian

Again, don't remember the matchup.  It was chosen from the tier cards, as I lost another coin toss.  I win on mercy rule 35-7 in the second quarter.

    Double Elimination Bracket Play

    Game 1

    Nos (Vikings) vs. Sam (Redskins)

I win the toss and call a Vikings - Redskins matchup and Sam selects the Redskins.  This game was close for most of the first half, with the game tied at 7.  A flurry of turnovers from the Redskins and some good defense allows me to run away with this one in the second half.  I win 31-7.

    Game 2

    Nos (Dolphins) vs. Chad (Vikings)

I lose the toss, and Chad calls a Dolphins - Vikings matchup, and I select the Dolphins.  I am able to run just enough with Smith to keep Chad honest.  I take a 17-7 lead into the 4th quarter with some nice work with Marino, but the play of the game was Chad, who avoided the rush with Wilson, outgrappling two CPU defenders while I am seemingly covering the whole field with Williams, to cycle through his receivers two full rotations and score on the 80+ yard TD to make it 17-14 with 3 minutes to go.  I drive mixing short passes and runs with Marino / Smith to take up the rest of the game, ending inside Chad's 10 yard line to seal the victory.  I win 17-14.

    Game 3

    Nos (Chargers) vs. Boud (Bucs)

I lose the toss, and Brent calls a Bucs - Chargers matchup, and I select the Chargers.  I receive and begin moving the ball with Butts.  On an attempted quick throw with Tolliver,a CPU drone other than Haddix gets the JJ interception.  The Bucs offense was pretty stagnant in this game.  Boud seemed determined to succeed with R & S run 3, and Byrd at DB2 completely shut it down throughout the game.  I am able to move the ball effectively with Tolliver / Butts, and combined with the nonexistent TB running game, I take a 21-0 lead in the second half.  My offense then becomes a run run pass deep with Tolliver, resulting in three interceptions that functioned as punts.  I win 21-0.  I think Boud fumbled once as well.

    Game 4 -- Championship Game

    Nos (Saints) vs. Ashman (Cardinals)

I lose the toss, and Dave calls a Saints - Cardinals matchup, and I select the Saints.  The game began as a defensive struggle for both teams, trading punts to a 0-0 game after 1.  I am able to muster some offense and take a 14-0 lead into the late 3rd quarter.  Ashman gets the TD on a nice drive to make it 14-7.  Fourcade throws a pick to McDonald as Ashman played some nice D, and the Cardinals are able to score to make it 14-14 at the end of regulation.  In OT, the Saints win the toss but are forced to punt at around the 40 yard line, starting a string of 3 and outs.  The Cardinals are forced to punt, and the Saints are forced to punt, and the game is headed to 2nd OT.  The Cardinals win the toss and receive.  Another punt.  The Saints are able to move the ball enough with the passing game to allow a run 3 call to Hilliard, who takes it to the house from about 60 yards out.  Saints win 20-14 in double overtime.

I win the Cajun Classic, with a 6-1 tournament record on the day.

Thanks to Gerald (Suicideking81) for throwing another great tournament.  ArkLaTex may be looking a bit different in the next power rankings, now that my Tecmo rust at the time of the Swamp Bowl (2nd Place Finish after two losses to Boud) has officially been shaken off with this victory.

After the tournament, two XFL league games were played:

    Game 1

Nos vs. Suicideking-- I win 26-0 allowing less than 100 yards total offense.

    Game 2

Nos vs. Boud -- I win 23-14, and I don't remember much about this one save for Avery going into good in the 2nd half.  I kicked a field goal in the 4th to create the two score difference.

Finished at 8-1 on the day, with the only loss of the day in pool play avenged in the bracket.

The DB2 defense was on fire all day.

Three groups of 4 participated in a round robin format, with the top 6 advancing to a double elimination bracket for the championship.

I'll give a brief recap of my games:

Game 1: I choose a Saints - Jets matchup and my opponent calls the Jets.  I win 19-3 despite fumbling twice, one inside the 5 yard line.

Game 2: I choose a Cardinals - Cowboys matchup and my opponent calls the Cowboys.  The Boys open up with a deep diving CC for a TD, but this would be the only offense for the Cowboys in this one.  I win 44-7.

Game 3: My opponent wins the toss and chooses a Chiefs - Dolphins matchup from the tier cards.  I select the Chiefs and win 48-0.

Boud won his group with a 3-0 record after a close one with suicideking, and Ashman won his group with 3 shutout victories, two with point totals in the 70s!  Ashman was seeded #1, I was #2, Boud #3, and suicide #4 in the championship bracket, with Ashman and I receiving byes.

My first matchup in the bracket, I lose to Boud 24-14 in a Bucs - Chargers matchup.  I chose the Chargers and took an early 7-0 lead, but Boud played well throughout.  I fumbled down 17-14 which sealed the Bucs victory on a late TD.

In the losers bracket, I win an Oilers - Giants matchup with the Oilers 44-14 to setup a match against suicideking.

In this one, Suicide selects a Chargers - Saints matchup, and I happily call the Chargers.  I win 28-7 after taking a 21-0 lead into the 4th quarter.

Ashman lost to Boud in an amazing Bengals - Chiefs matchup, with some really bad luck allowing Ashman to stay in the game until late.  The returned block field goal for a TD was pretty epic.  However, a 72 yard field goal (that's right, Lowery and the Chiefs with Boud at the helm lined up for a field goal from their own 45 yard line) was drilled by Boud at the gun.  Amazing game, and Boud was in the championship.

In the semis, Ashman calls a Redskins - Vikings matchup and I select the Redskins.  Ashman had some bad luck in this one with 2 fumbles, and my offense was only stopped once.  I win 28-7 to setup the championship and a rematch from my only loss on the day.

Boud calls a Jets - Cowboys matchup, and I take the Cowboys.  The Jets take a 7 point lead in the 4th quarter with 2 minutes to play, and the Cowboys capitalize on a huge pass to Novacek to get the Cowboys inside the Jet 40.  Next play, called run 3, fumbled and nearly housed by Boud.  He scores with under a minute to create the 14 point difference and the championship victory, 24-10.

Boud played great all day.  I finish in 2nd with a 6-2 record on the day, battling back from the loser's bracket to make the championship game.

Thanks to Gerald and the rest of his family for a great day of Tecmo, and to the venue for having us.

Looking forward to the next one.  Looks like I can hold my own in these things.
