  2. Good job Rod, pretty bad ass if you ask me, I remember that game like it was yesterday, was Jerry Glanville still the Oilers coach or did they have Pardee already?...........hey berniebomb, i laso remember that game you are talking about, I remember Beebe landing on his head, I for sure thought he had broken his neck, but he was ok!!
  3. On a little side note, the Seattle Seahawks and the Buffalo Bills both 11-7 are the first two teams to clinch their division and a playoff berth. In the NFC West, the standings are as follows: Team----------------W----L----T----Pct. New Orleans--------9-----6----0----.600 L.A. Rams----------8-----7-----0---.533 Atlanta--------------7-----8----0----.466 San Francisco -----0-----15---0----.000
  4. Week 16 K.C.-07-16-07-14=44 S.F. -00-00-00-00=00 Let me just put it this way, Derrick Thomas and Percy Snow were on crack today, "yeah they got some bull sh*t yards on us but they were never really a threat, we kicked their ass and im glad, we are probably not going to the playoffs this year, but we were not going to lose to these guys" said Percy Snow, whose Chiefs are 8-7 and on the outside looking in, fourth place in the AFC West. The "Nigerian Nightmare" Christian Okoye had 161 all purpose yards, he rushed for 80 yards on 9 carries and also led his team with 3 catches for 81 yards, but it was Steve DeBerg who made a difference today. He passed for 320 yards while completing 84% of his passes. That was the highest passing yards allowed by the 49ers defense all season. Joe Montana once again led his team in rushing with 38 yards on 3 carries while completing 45% of his passes for 196 yards and an interception. Jerry Rice once again "stood out" from the 49ers offense, he had 98 yards on 2 receptions, which put him over a 1000 yards receiving for the season.
  5. Week 15 Sea. -00-07-07-07=21 S.F. -00-00-00-07=07 The Seahawks showed up for the game with both starting runningbacks in bad conditon, so Dave Kreig new coming into the game, that the only way to get out of this game with a win, was for him to step up and challenge the 49ers pass rush and secondary. Kreig completed 80% of his passes for 291 yards which was the most yards passing allowed by the 49ers since QB Eagles passed for 310 in a 42-14 week 9 loss to the Eagles. Tommy Kane also came up big with 3 receptions for 118 yards. John L. Williams had only 21 yards on 4 carries, the lowest rushing yards allowed by an individual all season. Offensively the 49ers stunk it up, but it was even worse this time cosidering the fact that the Seahawks defense is considered one of the weakest in the league. Although Joe Montana completed a season high 71% of his passes, it was only for 46 yards, which was his lowest since passing for 30 yards against the Chargers in a 42-7 week to loss; he also led the team in rushing with a 16 yard scramble. Jerry Rice had only 2 grabs for 26 yards. "I really thought we had a chance to come up with our first win today, but it just didnt happen, I think our defense did a great job to keep us in the game, but we just never could get on track offensively, I mean we had 84 total yards and 3 first downs!!!, thats not gonna get it done anywhere, on behalf of our offense i apologize to our defense" said Montana after the game.
  6. Week 14 N.O.-07-21-07-07=42 S.F. -00-07-07-14=28 With the 49ers clearly out of the playoff picture, the Saints moved into a 2 way tie with the Rams at 7-6, and one game ahead of the 6-7 Atlanta Falcons in the NFC West. This was clearly a weird game with the Saints striking early and often against the 49ers. The 49er defense stopped the Saints cold on their opening drive, it seemed like things were starting to change, but then John Taylor took the Saints punt and juked a couple of times before fumbling inside his own 20 yard line, Saints right guard Steve Trapilo took advantage of the fumble, pick it up and ran it in for the touchdown. The Saint defense then held the 49ers offense to 3 and out, who punted; it only took a couple of plays before Steve Walsh (85% completed 145 yards 0 int) found Eric Martin (2 receptions 111 yards) for a 50+ yard td. On the ensuing kick off, Dexter Carter did his best John Taylor impersonation and fumbled the ball also inside his own 20 yard line. Two or three plays later, Dalton Hilliard (8 rushing att. 144 yards) was dancing into the endzone for a 12 yard touchdown. On their following drive, the 49ers were forced to punt only to have the same results as the last time they punted. Walsh hooked up with Martin again for a 50+ yard touchdown, the 49ers offense had run less than 10 plays and were already down 28-0. Roger Craig (3 rushes for 17 yards) who was a non factor once again scored late in the first half following a nice return by Dexter Carter to make it 28-7; before Gil Fenerty was injured on the following kickoff before the end of the half. The 49ers tried to make a game of it the second half, but the damage had been done. Joe Montana completed the usual meaningless 54% of his passes, but did pass for 220 yards, which was his highest since passing for 241 yards against the Rams in a 51-21 week 4 loss. Jerry Rice was able to get his share with 3 catches for 105 yards. " I get the feeling that most of the guys have given up on this season and that just really pisses me off, I mean what the f*ck?, where is our pride and dignity, not only as a team, but as an individual?, god d*mn, this is clearly one of the worst season that i have ever been a part of", said Rice who is clearly the teams best player and MVP this season with 33 receptions for 937 yards and 9 touchdowns.
  7. Dont know yet, maybe ill guide the NFC west winner or ill just choose whichever team i think will have the toughest road to the superbowl.
  8. Week 13 Rams-14-07-07-07=35 S.F. - 07-00-00-07=14 It was not the same 51-21 blowout on the scoreboard from their previous week 4 meeting, but in the end it pretty much felt and looked the same as the first game. The Rams running game finding enough holes to keep the defense 49ers honest, Jim Everret (91% completed 280 yds) and Henry Ellard (4 rec. 142 tds) looking unstoppable, and Joe Montana completing enough passes to make his final passing yards "look" respectable. "Yeah pretty much the same old sh*t as last time we met" said a clearly frustrated Bill Romanowski after the game while tying his shoes and not looking at the camera. Romanowski added, "I mean god d*mn, we just cant seem to stop anybody, for what i understand, Curt Warner and Cleveland Gary were in "bad" condition before the game and some unknown a**hole named Buford comes in and puts some yards against us?, in addition to the game Everret and Ellard had?, we have hit rock bottom as a defense".........When told about Romonowski's comments a humble Buford McGee (9 carries 103 yards 1td) smiled and said, "scoreboard baby, its not my fault, i mean i was in "excellent" condition and my maximum speed was at 56, so i just showed up when my number was called". McGee had not carried the ball once all season before this game. On offense, the 49ers were back at it again, Montana competed 46% of his passes for 206 yards. Most to Jerry Rice who had 94 yards on 3 receptions. Dexter Carter came in for an injured Tom Rathman and gained 63 tough earned yards on 10 carries.
  9. Week 12 Phx.-07-07-00-21=35 S.F. -00-12-07-07=26 Once again, the 49ers made it a game for three quarters but eventually ran out of gas as a team. "They did a good job stopping our passing game, not to take anything away from their defense, but our playbook IS one of the worst, if not the worst one in TSB" said Johnny Johnson who had 14 carries for 152 yards, "so I was sure glad that my number was called and that I was able to find some spaces in that defense" he added. Ronnie Lott said after the game "we tried to keep it close, I mean other than that lone 66 yard catch by Ricky Proehl, their passing game was a none factor, but Johnny Johnson was in the zone today". Rosenbach ended up with only 95 yards passing while completing only 37% of his passes. Offensively, Roger Craig had an awesome game but it wasnt enough, Craig had 6 carries for a season high 144 yards and a couple of touchdowns, "Im glad on a personal point of view cause I feel like i finally contributed, but the bottom line is that under those Tecmo Sports News white letters, on that blue screen it still read Cardinals 35 - 49ers 26, so there is nothing to celebrate about" a clearly confused Craig said by his locker room still wearing his uniform as most of the team had left the locker room. Joe Montana was his normal self of this season as he completed 41% of his tosses for 139 yards, most coming to John Taylor who had 67 yards on his lone catch.
  10. Its not a midseason report, but after 10 games, this is where the 49ers sit: Record: 0-10-0 Offense: 204.6 total yards per game 151.3 passing yards per game 53.3 rushing yards per game Defense: 349.2 total yards per game 184.7 passing yards per game 164.5 rushing yards per game Joe Montana Att - 124 Comp - 57 TD - 9 Int - 2 Yds - 1513 Avg - 12.2 Comp% - 45.9 Rating - 108.7 Roger Craig Att - 55 Yds - 237 Avg - 4.3 TD - 2 Jerry Rice Rec - 26 Yds - 680 Avg - 26.1 Td - 5
  11. Week 11 N.O.-07-07-00-10=24 S.F. -00-07-07-06=20 Fenerty!!! Fenerty!!! Fenerty!!!, enough said, two kickoff returns for touchdowns, the Saints offense and playbook stunk it up badly, "of course our game ball has to go to that white boy Gil Fenerty, i dont know what the TSB gods saw in him but im glad they did cause if it wasnt for him, we would have given the 49ers their first win" said Dalton Hilliard who rushed for 64 yards on 9 carries. "I freakin sucked this game, our playbook is a piece of crap, both running and passing, but im glad as hell we have Gil on our side returning the ball" Walsh said after the game who only completed 30% of his passes for 125 yards and one interception. Eric Martin did have 2 receptions for 89 yards. Montana completed 41% of his passes for 174 yards and also threw his first interception since a 28-6 week three loss to the Vikings; he also led his team in rushing with a 40 yard scramble. Jerry Rice had 3 grabs fo 123 yards, "we need to get this thing turned around quickly, i mean im just not used to losing.............this crap is freaking getting old" Rice added after the game.
  12. Week 10 Atl. - 14-00-00-14=28 S.F.- 00-06-06-07=19 Mike Rozier has the 49ers number this season, Ronnie Lott said it best, "we are playing so bad defensively right now that we are making Rozier look like Barry Sanders on crack right now, i mean he rushed for 150 yards on 16 carries??????? i mean come on???? this guy is not that great, like i said before, their freakin playbook sucks, but hey they kicked our ass twice already this season, and Rozier has 278 yards on 26 carries against us this season, f*ck, this sucks"..........the 49ers were able to intercept Miller once but he still passed for 128 yards while completing 60% of his passes and Rison did manage to grab a 62 yards pass, but today it was the Mike Rozier show. On offense, Rathman had a season high 75 yards on 8 carries, Montana completed 46% of his passes for 142 yards, it was only the third time this season that Montana, threw for more yards than the opposing quarterback. John Taylor continues to be the lone shining star on this offense, he had 3 receptions for 112 yards.
  13. Week 9 Phi. - 14-14-07-07=42 S.F. - 00-07-00-07=14 The 49ers were once again beaten, not only on the scoreboard, but in every single phase of the game, the Philadelphia Eagles who were 4-3 coming into the game and fighting for an NFC wild card played a near perfevt game on offense. Everything was clicking for the Eagles, QB Eagles was awesome as he tore through the 49ers defense all by himself. "This was for sure the best game i have played in a long time, even though the 49ers have been struggling on defense this season, they are still the 49ers, with Lott, Haley and all those guys back there, man this was an awesome win for us" said QB Eagles after the game. Not only did he rush for 126 yards on only 9 carries, but he also killed the 49ers on the air, he completed an outstanding 100% of his passes for 310 yards and no interceptions, most of the yards going to Fred Barnett, who had 6 grabs for 192 yards. On offense the 49ers continue to struggle, they are near the bottom on most offensive categories. Montana completed a season low 27% of his passes for 193 yards. Roger Craig had 29 yards on 5 carries and John Taylor had 2 catches for 133 yards. "Man we just all over suck, everything!!!!!! we suck on our side of the ball, i mean we allowed 14 first downs, thats bulls**t.....our offense sucks...................Montana is making Grogan look like an all star, and dont even get me started on our running backs..........and you can quote me on that" said an obvioulsy angry Haley at his locker after the game.
  14. Week 8 Det. - 07-07-07-25=46 S.F. - 07-07-00-03=17 The 49ers were able to make it a game for 3 quarters before totally collapsing, with Barry Sanders in the backfield, and the 49ers rushing defense at its worst; the 49ers knew they had a heavy dose of Sanders coming their way. Detroit did just as expected, and Sanders tortured the 49ers defense with 305 yards on 19 carries. Not much was needed from their passing game as Peete completed 80% of his passes for only 88 yards. On offense, the 49ers had one of their best three quarters before just laying down in the 4th quarter. Jerry Rice had his second best game of the season, Montana was able to get him the ball 5 times for 122 yards, but it wasnt enough. Roger Craig had his "best" outing of the season with 55 yards on 8 carries which was the most by a 49ers runningback this season since Rathman had 48 yards on 8 carries against the Chargers in a 42-7 week 2 loss. Montana ended up completing 66% of his passes for 160 yards.
  15. Week 7 Atl. - 07-14-14-07=42 S.F.- 06-00-00-00=06 The 49ers sank to a new low this season, and by that , I mean that they got humilitated by the Atlanta Falcons. How bad has the 49ers defense sank? Ronnie Lott said it all, "man to let Mike Rozier run all over our defense for 128 yards on 10 carries was pathetic on our part, considering that their playbook sucks.........we have sank to an all season low". In addition to Rozier's big game, Chris Miller was almost perfect by completing 90% of his passes for 192 conservetive yards, Rison had 2 receptions for 64 yards. The 49ers offense was at it again, and by that i mean that they sucked again. Montana completed 57% of his passes which was his highest since week 1, but only passed for 92 yards which is the third time this season that he was unable to go over 100 yards. Rice had 2 receptions for 48 yards and Roger Craig had 27 yards on 6 carries.
  16. Yeah no kidding, nt dive should not be used in man vs man, so tell your friend to quit being a pussy and play you straight up, i feel bad even using it against the computer
  17. Week 5 Rai - 14-07-07-14=42 S.F.- 00-03-00-07=10 The 49ers were back at it again this week, which was pretty much a repeat of what has been happening all season. Considering the fact that the 49ers came into the game with the worst rush defense, and even with Bo Jackson in "average" condition, you knew it was a recipe for Raiders success. Bo Jackson carried the ball only 5 times, but that was all he needed to pick up 185 yards, which was the most the 49ers had allowed since Marion Butts rushed for 206 in week 2. Marcus Allen also added his share out of the backfield, he caught the ball 4 times for 114 yards. Allen said after the game, "what can i say, Bo is a stud, he just cant be stopped, look what he did to this defense, just imagine if he would have been in good or excellent condition, i was just glad i could help out in the passing game". Jay Schroeder did his best to keep the 49ers defense honest completing 85% of his passes for 205 yards and no interceptions. The 49ers offense continues to struggle as a whole. The usually sure handed trio of Rice (3 rec 71 yds this week), Taylor and Jones continue to drop passes in double and sometimes tripple coverage. Montana has not completed over 50% of his passes in a game since week one, this time he completed 42% for 183 yards. Roger Craig has been a total non factor all season he carried the ball 6 times for 19 yards. Montana called for a players only meeting before next week's game against Atlanta.
  18. Week 4 Rams-14-14-07-16=51 S.F. - 07-00-14-00=21 The 49ers allowed one of the better all around performance that I can remember in TSB history. The Rams inposed their will on the 49ers in almost all phases of the game. Cleveland Gary (4 att. 71yds) and Curt Warner (4 att. 64 yds) combined for 135 yards on 8 carries. Jim Everett and Henry Ellard did the most damage, both had career days. "They have been kicking our asses for so long and to have this kind of game against those guys........this one just feels good, im gonna really enjoy this one all week" Everett said after the game. He completed 100% of his passes for 256 yards and no interceptions. "I would have had more yards but Ellard fumbled on one of those long plays in the 3rd quarter, and we know about that stupid TSB rule when it comes to fumbling and losing yards" Everett added. Henry Ellard had a monster game, he had 5 receptions for 217 yards, and was also all smiles after the game. Ellard just laughed when told about Everett's 3rd quarter fumble comments, '' ha ha, i know im gonna be hearing about it all week" Ellard joked. Even Gaston Green added salt on the wound, he returned a kickoff 85 yards for his first td of the season. On offense, the 49ers showed sparks of what we all know they are capable of doing, but it wasnt even close to matching the Rams offensive output, Montana had his second best game yardage wise of the season with 241 yards while only completing 40% of his throws. John Taylor did have 2 catches for 105 yards and Roger Craig continues to struggle, "man, 17 yards on 9 carries???? i sucked that bad??? man this s**t is getting old, this sucks" Craig snapped.
  19. Week 3 Min.-00-07-07-14=28 S.F. -06-0-00-00=06 The 49ers scored first, but as they later found out, that would be their only score on an early defensive struggle between both teams. That is until Wade Wilson and Steve Jordan got on the same page in the second half. Wilson completed 64% of his throws, most of them to to Jordan. Wilson ended up with 242 yards on the air, the most allowed by the 49ers (0-3) this season. Jordan had 5 grabs for 106 tough yards while Herschel Walker gained all of the Vikings rushing yards with 80 yards on 11 carries. It was the lowest rushing yards allowed by the struggling 49ers rush defense. The offense continued to struggle with Montana completing 44% of his attempts for 55 yards, "well at least my passing yards were higher than my completion percentage this week" Montana joked as he sat in front of his locker room looking dazed and confused. Roger Craig carried the ball 3 times for a 11 yards, and Rice had 3 receptions for 50 yards and is still not talking to the media.
  20. Week 2 S.D.-14-07-14-07=42 S.F.-00-07-00-00=07 It was the Marion Butt's show, as he pounded the 49ers defense for 206 yards on 12 carries, Ronnie Lott was frustrated as he never imposed himself on the big Chargers back. Not much was asked fron B.J Tolliver as he completed 57% of his passes for 105 yards, "when you have Marion in your backfield, you dont need to put up big numbers as a qb, thank good we have him, otherwise our offense would suck" Tolliver said. He also needs to be thanking his defense, as they shut down the 49ers offense. They limited Montana to 30 passing yards while completing 42% of his passes. Roger Craig was missing in action for a second week in a row as Rathman was once again their "leading rusher" with 48 yards on six carries, most of those coming on a 25+ yard run. Rice was seen storm out of the locker room after the game as he was held to only 2 catches for 28 yards.
  21. Week 1 GIA -07-14-16-16=53 S.F.-00-00-07-00=07 The giants knew that if they stood a chance against the 49ers, they had to run and protect the ball; which is exactly what they did, their defense did not do a great job in stopping the 49ers high powered pass offense. Jerry Rice had 5 catches for 152 yards, while Montana completed 66% of his passes for 243 yards. Tom Rathman had 40 yards on 6 carries. David Megget and Ottis Anderson barrowed some of LT's crack to put up great numbers themselves, what a great way to start the season, Anderson carried the ball only 3 times for an outstanding 121 yards, while Meggett slashed his way through the 49ers defense out of the backfield like slashing through an unwilling women's dress for 152 yards on 4 receptions. Simms completed 62% of his passes for a conservative 196 yards
  22. Just wanted to have some fun and i was bored............i wondered what it would have been like in todays reality show driven television to keep a log of all of the 49ers opponents in the original TSB world, hope you guys like it and i hope i can finish it.........
  23. I bought the game last week, have already played one season, won the superbowl undefeated and all it did was unluck the "original background music" and give me some points that you can use to upgrade your QB, RB and WR "special abilities", which is really no upgrade, I think the game is a total copy of the original SNES version, had i known this, i probably would not have bought it, since my favorite version is the TSB NES version, but anyways i dont think it was worth the 30 dollars i spent, i would maybe give it a 5 in a 0-10 scale.
  24. Remember Blake's rainbows with the Bengals???? Would those be condidered hail marys??
