  1. Stacy Robinson, NYG WR died in 2012
  2. Anyone driving from (or through) NYC area and willing to give me a ride? I'm good for gas money.
  3. This was a ton of fun and a run I'll never forget. In addition to the crazy glitch ending @Yak mentioned, I had to pull out a super tough round of 16 game against @discdolo who had beaten me in group play. He was up most of the game but I caught him at the end to win 14-13. I was very happy to make it to the quarterfinals, and after beating Danny K I was thrilled to make it through to the semis. Then getting through @tadaos and @MattyD at the end, both of last year's finalists and three time champs between them, was just completely unexpected. Over a decade after winning the OTFL and HSTL championships, I can add a live tournament crown to the list. What a thrill. Thanks again to @Bad Moon Rison for another great event. See you all next time.
  4. See you guys tomorrow. Here's hoping there's no game 7 looming. That OJ glossy is MINE.
  5. Possibly. When I checked out the boards recently I could not believe that they are up to season 37 or whatever, it felt like the league was always on the verge of collapse back in the day. I need to get a computer, that's the main hurdle. I've been getting by with an ipad for the past few years. (Side note: believe it or not, the ipad is actually a pretty sweet emulation console. if you jailbreak it you can actually play old games wirelessly with a wiimote, there is zero lag, it's amazing.) How do people set up games these days, AIM's not still a thing is it?
  6. I'm in. I may be able to provide an NES if necessary, no promises though and it may be in not the best shape.
  7. someone needs to change the happy miami dolphin to the scowling miami dolphin
  8. I don't know if i posted before, but i will be making the trip down from hartford. I will most likely be massively hung over. where is the address to this place? can i get someones cell number in case i cant find it?
  9. i would be neat if someone put this playbook editing stuff into a TSB Manager so we dont need a computer science degree to figure this out. that is all
  10. is there any way to get a flash card for a reasonable price? the link from that site had them on sale for like $140, thats pretty damn steep.
  11. is this a joke? is tecmo on gba? why didnt anyone else react to this before i did?
  12. it always seems to me that the computer is horrible at calling plays according to down&distance. Running the ball up the gut on a 3rd and 25 comes to mind.
  13. the main one, im right on 10th and Broadway. you go to school, bad moon?
  14. i guess if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself, and so i did. http://homepages.nyu.edu/~deh232/TSBNFC.nes and http://homepages.nyu.edu/~deh232/TSBAFC.nes feel free to put them on the site if you so choose, roderick.
  15. i know that losing a wr hurts the passing game, but the fact remains that offenses like the dolphins and the oilers and the niners go from good to nearly unstoppable when you start putting wr at rb. I cant remember who said it, but the nostalgia argument is really at the heart of this- part of the reason i like playing the game is because it resembles real teams from the early 90's, and i dont recall jerry rice or drew hill or andre rison lining up in the backfield much back in the day. Sure, maybe johnny bailey didnt play much wr, but does anyone really care? The oilers had no run game in real life, they should have to deal in the video games as well. i guess we are going around in circles, but i think that if nostalgia for that time period in the nfl plays a big part of your love of tecmo, then wr at rb is something of a sacrilege.
  16. 3/4 of passing is the qb (imo), so one wr is like 1/16th of the total passing game, whereas the runningback is just about all of the running game. therefore you put the fastest guy at rb and it helps a lot.
  17. i'm just surprised that you take that into account when evaluating a team. I've never encountered that before. I mean, put drew hill at rb for the oilers or rice in for the 9er's at rb and those offenses go from being good to being unstoppable. Or like putting marv cook in at rb to throw the patriots a bone, it all seems absurd. If a team has no run game, they should have to live with it, period.
  18. in light of recent assertions that the dolphins and oilers are not overrated because their wr's could play rb, i posted this. I think wr at rb is total bs. Also, i don't care what you do against the computer, this pertains to man games only.
  19. as if wr's at rb is a reasonable tactic. Neither of those teams has even a viable 44 ms rb.
  20. I've never been a fan of teams with no legitimate running threat. With a good defender, Marino can be neutralized, and with a very good defender, warren moon can be neutralized. Can you say that about bo jackson or neal anderson? i dont think so. then again, i come from the giants, move the chains, run first mentality, so thats why i say the dolphins and oilers are overrated.
