SBlueman got a reaction from maverick209 in Set commands list for NES TSB (Updated 3/10/23)
We have a new one to share thanks to @bruddog! This set command edits overtime in playoff games to correct an error where COM was attempting onside kicks.

WORKS - COM DIVE TACKLINE LIKE SNES1. I don't know exactly how dive tackling works in SNES but this reduces the COM dive tackle chance from 60% down to 18% BROKEN- DEF PURSUIT BASED ON QUICKNESS....totally BROKEN do not use. HALF WORK/HALF BROKEN- OFF JUMP/DIVE BASED ON REC WORKS Off jumping based on rec TOTALLY BROKE - Off diving based on rec - code never jumps to the dive command. DO NOT USE FUNCTIONAL BUT WOULD NOT USE- CONTROL PERCEN TAGE OF DEFENSIVE JUMPING. This works but its like a partial check, then the defender still has to be close enough to the ball to jump for it. This hack changes the first check where the ball has to be within a window of the final ball location to just a random number check. Not sure this will have the intended effect so I would say probably don't use.
Will look at more later... -

SBlueman reacted to War6 in 4th Qtr CPU 4th down attempts
Clearly, the CPU understands what it needs to do when down by 3 points inside their own 50 in the 4th. Using this scenario, the CPU chose to punt! So why can’t they do the same thing when down by two scores? Down by +14 on their own 5 with a 4th & 10, CPU chooses to go for it. This never happens in reality! If it does, then the whole coaching staff is deep-sixed—pronto!
How can this be modified so a good game does not turn into a suicidal charge into the jaws of inevitability which results in a bunch of skewed stats for us statistically inclined Tecmo players?
If you know the answer and have the ability to modify the logic, the please help—the community who plays man vs com would greatly appreciate the assist.
Thanks in advance

SBlueman got a reaction from Rick 8bit in How to edit Chiefs uniform colors in 28 team rom?
Thank you so much for the layup on that one. The issue was driving me nuts. Your code worked like a gem. I wonder why Tecmo coded that 3rd uniform in there?

SBlueman reacted to War6 in 4th Qtr CPU 4th down attempts
Posting again to see if any of the hacking gurus have any insight into modifying the CPU’s propensity to continuously go for fourth downs when down by 10+ in the 4th quarter. A lot of the community primarily plays the CPU and this would be a huge step in the right direction in terms of simulation. For instance, I’ve never witnessed, seen, or heard of a team ever going for a 4th down in the 4th quarter in their own zone down by more than two scores. If so, it’s an anomaly and not the norm. The appropriate decision would be a punt. Instead a competitive game gives way to a very terrible decision by the CPU which causes extreme stat inflation. Additionally, I’ve applied a laundry list of hacks to improve the gameplay etc., however, the CPU still exhibits the same all or nothing approach in the 4th…if you are backed up, in your own zone, and trailing by +10 you will most likely punt unless you are in a tournament or goofing around with friends. On the other side of the coin, MANY players in the community track their stats, play only man/CPU games, and do not have the luxury of playing man v man games.
Again, if anyone one out there can help out, the community would greatly appreciate the help.

SBlueman reacted to Ryzzynnwa in 4/3 defense
I looked at everything in the playbook and it looks like the best way to do it without messing everything up and creating too much work would be to just have two types of 4/3 defenses; 4/3 right = ROLB gets moved up to line of scrimmage but at same width as he was before and the RE becomes RDT and the DT becomes LDT no moving them, or 4/3 left = the LOLB gets moved up to line of scrimmage but at same width as he was before and the LE becomes LDT and the DT becomes RDT no moving them.

SBlueman reacted to bruddog in 4/3 defense
Adding 4/3 formations is quite complex. Unless you are trying to make every team 4-3.
If you are trying to make some 3-4 and some 4-3 then its a lot of programming to make that work.
They way jstout did it way back was to add additional banks of play design. And then the correct ones would be referenced depending on what type of defense the team was.
On my rom I let the player select the defense at the play screen…this only required one defensive bank.
You might be best off using his 3-4/4-3 rom. It should be on the board somewhere.

Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to the questions. I'm no coder by any means, I'm more of an archivist. But with that said, these threads might help point you in the right direction:

Borg be 6-4/
H'TYPE be 5-5, now.
Listen to me, thusly: Borg and H'TYPE throttled K.c>jags & PHI>gia right.
Borg (2-2 DIV Rd) biffed Sunday/ H'TYPE (3-1 DIV Blvd) bottle-rocketed Sunday's S.F>cowboys (only)...
Purdy found Deebo wide-open for the 20-14 victory, Frank.
(Silver Sun Gorilla be 8-2)

SBlueman reacted to Silver Sun Gorilla in Sim test USA
For our current Playoff weekend,
the Best i can give you is to SIM for yourself - DO IT, NOW - @SBlueman's 3.1 HARDTYPE, with Purdy-led S.F @ Com1 & Cowboys @ Com2:
That was the only Divisional-round game in which a 3.1 HARDTYPE 1-off SIM was NOT unanimous with @Knobbe/T-Borg ROM's...
It went to OverTime. How did it get there? S.F overcame a 0-14 deficit (to push it to OT, 14-14).
Each team got the ball at least once. So, who WON? I can't tell you (yet)
... Tell yourself.
SIM IT, BWA !!!!!!!

I forgot to mention that I also made QB2 the starting qb for S.F and BAL - in addition to MIA - in each of this year's WC SIMs*
Right now, @SBlueman's 3.1 HARDTYPE and @Knobbe/ T-Borg's rev0 are unanimous, so far, in their 1-off Divisional SIMs. (I'm about to sim Cowboys @ S.F*...)
*I don't usually do that - when QB1 is not the starting qb in-real-life - but this year's Playoffs I do/ will
