    Knobbe reacted to ovenmitt in changing a team's offensive formation
    Anyone trying to make formation edits in 2021 ROMs or beyond, those formations are located at 0x7F940 to 0x7F961. You can edit 0x3F940 but that will only result in frustration and tears, and no changes to the team formations. This also means that using the TSBToolSupreme is of no use for reading or writing the formations (other than that, an AMAZING tool)

    In case this: BUF-ATL-ProBowl-NFC West order confused you, there are 34 bytes. The order in which they affect the teams is division-by-division: Buf, Mia, NE, NYJ, Cin, Cle, etc. up until NO, Atl, Car. the next two bytes are the Pro Bowl teams, and the last 4 are SF, LA, Sea, Ari.

    0x31FE0 to 0x32001 remains the correct bank for matching up the players listed positions with the formation.

    Tile Editor is the term you would search for. There is TileLayerPro, TileEd, and a host of others. It's a lot of manual work, but it's the only way I am aware of.

    I may be of service! I have been using WINDHEX, but the Hex Editor in snes9x has really helped because you can make live edits! I found all of the information that you need to change appearance for pitchers, ERAs, and even the position of the batter's bat!
    Here is information for what each part of the code edits: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hN8UYuadu3SImXri0MR9jLJY7lm84_Da/view?usp=sharing
    and I created a HEX table to edit teams and players names: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-LOp1ktUJsu7hIo6Jhj-eD1Z1nCvkI_a/view?usp=sharing

    I hope this helps!

    Knobbe reacted to ovenmitt in Guide to creating TSB player portraits
    I've learned a ton from this site and was able to go from never editing a ROM file to making an entire custom ROM with new players, teams, plays, and lots of new graphics, based entirely on info I learned here on this site and using a bunch of the Tecmo-specific tools that you guys have built over the years. One thing that worked really well was customizing graphics to display a portrait in the opening credit screens. Of course, you can make portraits of your friends and family, it's not just for TSB legends.

    As I told him, this post by bruddog really is key to understanding Tecmo graphics. With that knowledge I was able to build some cool stuff, and I've created the attached guide for anyone who wants to do the same. Also a sample ROM file you can inspect or customize. To be fair: there are quite a few steps, it isn't automated, it will certainly take a while the first time. Hope you find this to be useful... and please post any tips for making these images look even better!

    Knobbe reacted to Dusto in Research toward 32 team Season Stats extractor
    ah good to know.  I checked against the original ram for this.  So I was still a little confused as its been almost 8 years or so since I played around with this. There are 2 files , like a quick state save, and then there's a  .SAV file that emulates i think the current battery save.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  When I was writing this in 2013 the save state for the Buffalo Bills QB was consistent to where CXROM said it was for QBBills(x7AE)

    The original rom in Mesen still writes to this location for the .Sav battery file that keeps the stats for a season.    In the 2021 game it looks like the location changed to 027A0 (10144 decimal) with the offset in decimal staying about 208 per team.  I haven't worked all the way through the stats section yet.  I simmed through a whole season and was tackling the larger sets with little unit tests to make sure I had properly understood the Modifier section and use of modulus vs division.

    Going to make a github of the effort this go round if anyone wants to follow along.  Just to kinda document the process a bit better for anyone wanting to build one out or build a better version of my work.

    Xplozv solved the QB control issue about two months ago and I'm very grateful for his wizardry. To control the QB after throwing a pass using the Franchise QB hack use the following:
    If your rom has a header:  (1) x19E41 = A9 F1 BF & (2) x19E4F = 4C C9 9D
    If your rom has no header: (1) x19C41 = A9 F1 BF & (2) x19C4F = 4C C9 9B

    Via Xplozv yet again...I take absolutely ZERO credit for his outstanding magic!

    XPLOZV: "I have the stats screen working as well after each quarter. Once you exit the stats screen with B button like during halftime, the playcall screen background will be black. After you pick your play and the field loads, the color will come back. It's very brief tho and will only happen after the 1st and 3rd quarter. It doesn't happen at halftime because the game goes straight to the kickoff and loads the field of play."

    Here goes if you have no header:
    x24194 = 20 C3 CA 20 74 CC 20 90 F0 20 61 C6
    x241E1 = 20 C3 CA 20 74 CC 20 90 F0 20 61 C6
    x27090 = E2 20 9C AE 06 20 14 C9 E2 30 60

    Here goes if you have a header:
    x24394 = 20 C3 CA 20 74 CC 20 90 F2 20 61 C6
    x243E1 = 20 C3 CA 20 74 CC 20 90 F2 20 61 C6
