  1. Not a problem.... The server is a Pentium 120 with 48mb of ram, 2GB of HD space, and a power supply with a non-functional fan. The server itself is running Linux as the OS with Apache, PHP, and MySQL as the major applications. Here is a snap shot of the system from the top command: As you can see there isn't a whole lot of free ram and almost half the swap space is used. The server itself is connected to the internet via a Cable Modem from Road Runner. The upstream bandwidth (from the PC to the system) is 1.5 Mbs which I assume would be the maximum. As for my web stats, http://www.knobbe.org/usage/index.html I started running the message board around April 26, so the usage has skyrocketed. I think it's a combo of ram and bandwith, but I think you might be right about bandwith being the problem. For now all everyone is going to notice is that the message boards and website don't pop up as fast as they should. I can probably switch the roms to a different site to speed up the rate at which they download and to free up some bandwidth.
  2. I finally had the right combination of free time and motivation where I've made a big update in terms of what the site has been up to and have added a link to the forum from there. http://www.knobbe.org/main.htm to read all about it....
  3. I don't, but it's very possible.
  4. My draft analysis and thoughts: Last year my team was drafted by a mongoloid who happened to fall into QB Eagles and who's lone defensive player Eddie Anderson was slotted as a CB. To prepare myself for this year, I dumped the database on my site that contains the complete player ratings into an Excel file and setup equations to give each player a mathimatical value. (A customized TSBM if you will) From this I was able to see where and when I should make picks. Using this method I only made one major error when picking. At 6.21 I should have chosen receiver instead of LB. While waiting for my next pick I missed out on Art Monk, Mark Ingram, and Mark Carrier. I did get the services of Eric Martin, but I could have probably picked up my LBs lower. Another philosiphy I had was to trade down on some picks to gain more depth to my team. In the end I had 5 picks in the first 3 rounds and had my final pick at 10.7. Anyway, this year I wanted to build a solid D around a running game. After trading down one too many spots to pick up Barry Sanders, I decided to go with Joe Montana and create a fearsome passing attack. I would say my weakness would be DBs not named Eddie Anderson and the lack of breakaway speed at RB. My strengths would be having only my FB with a RC number under 63, having one of the best O-lines, having the option to drop back the 63 int Gary Reasons on obvious passing downs, and having the sleeper stud Derrick Fenner as my KR behind a KR team featuring some decent HP. If I don't make the playoffs it's because I suck at playing, not at drafting...
  5. I'm waiting for a good time to update my list. Do you think that would be right after June 1st or more towards training camp, or do the two events happen at the same time?
  6. As you can see at the top, I've added "Tecmo Repostitory" as a link in the navigation chart. It will open the page in a new browser....
  7. It's tough to do I can tell you. The thing I never quite figured out was where the hex values were in the rom to let you change the colors being used with the helmets. Thus, I was always limited to the original colors when trying to change a helmet. I could probably figure it out if I sat down and looked again at it. Anyway, the thing about the helmets and any other graphic was that if something was going to be repeated, Tecmo would only use one graphic square. Thus on helmets where their are similar parts - like the left bottom of plain helmets, the pictures reference the same graphics. What I'm getting at is that the NFL teams like Cleveland with their blank helmet or Dallas with the star in the middle will be replaceable only with simple helmets while teams like Cincy with their unique stripes can be replaced with anything. One last thing to remember would be that the helmets can only contain 4 colors. As far as helping you, I can point out which program to use and some other stuff, but I don't have the time to get too indepth with it.
  8. Just get me the source code for TSB from the floppy disk that Brian uses to keep his chair from wobbling and I'll whip it up for you.... I would guess the only way to do this would be to have the other team in coach mode, but that would be a pain in the butt....
  9. he's going to get Bubby and try and figure out why half the passes are souviners for lucky fans.....
  10. When I first started playing it made a huge difference to me because I was so used to going one way. I really didn't get used to it until I started playing TSB III where you switch off all the time. Now it doesn't even bother me.
  11. http://www.knobbe.org/customroms.htm Though I wanted to have a rating system with the roms before I started putting them up, maybe I need to put them up to get them rated. This is a rom that Jaybird made with some tweaks from me so it's probably about time the rest of the world got a look at it. It's based right at the end of last season so there aren't any of the current free agent moves. Enjoy...
  12. If you want I can host the rom on my site and you can make a link to it. I think I'm about ready to get started in the custom rom business....
  13. You need to upload the file to the same place where you upload your HTML and then make a link like yoursite.com/romname.zip
  14. Damn John Clayton and his big mouth. Yeah, I travelling to Oakland today to meet with Big Al. Hopefully I won't smell like old person afterwards.....

  16. If you use FCEultra and disable the sound, the thing flies like a mofo. You can sim an entire season in under 5 minutes....
  17. According to my draft sheet broken down my mathematic formula, 1. Steve Young - SF 2. Erik Wilhelm - Cincinatti 3. Andre Ware - Detroit 4. Mike Pagel - Cleveland 5. Jeff Hostetler - NY Giants Other than Steve Young, the rest of the players on the list aren't much better than any of the other backups except they have running speeds of 25 as opposed to 13.
  18. I'd say Giants vs. Cardinals as there is only one pass or running play that you can get off successfully. LT can shut down the rest.
  19. http://www.zophar.net/store/items.phtml?snes-acc This is where I bought the adapter
  20. 1. Houston - Moon and 4 great WRs 2. 49ers - Montana is the best passing QB in the game and even Craig and Rathman can catch 3. Miami - Marino/Duper/Clayton is money and is enough to raise this team over.... 4. Rams - Ellard and Flipper might be the best starting WRs in the game and Jim Everett is a decent QB 5. Buffalo - Jim Kelly is a great QB with a pretty good set of WRs
  21. If it makes you feel any better, he is already here.....
  22. Basically it is an adapter that plugs into your parallel (printer) port that has two sets of 5 metal pins coming out it. You can plug up to two controllers into the adapter, which is basically a small circuit board. The rest is software controlled and this can be done with almost any system controller. BTW, what is wrong with your NES system. I recently revived my from the dead and might be able to help you...
  23. I rarely play season with team's original play books. However, if me and a bunch of the super friends are playing the play-offs of a simmed season, we'll usually just leave the plays in there. I recently won the Super Bowl with the Giants original plays. Holding teams to 13 points in 4 games probably had a lot to do with it though.....
  24. Actually, I'm using the controller to play the NES version of TSB.
