  1. Here are update mods for the All-Time greats hack. This version has way more modern players on the rosters and is basically an expansion era game (1961-now), save for a select few HoFers from the 1915-1959 era of baseball (guys like Cobb, Ruth, Williams, etc. are still here). As I mentioned before, I also applied the Game Genie code into this mod so the Speed and Defense ratings are unique and separate. So now the player's SPD rating affects their base-running on the basepaths AND their defensive speed out on the field, and the DEF rating now only affects their throwing strength/accuracy like it was probably meant to. Also, applied the mod where 2 strikes gets you an out and 3 balls gets you a walk. This makes the games even quicker and more balanced and slightly more low-scoring and stats a little more realistic (just a little lol, c'mon, this is Griffey!).

And just like the previous version, I have an expansion one where the Astros are replaced with a roster of Rays and the Rangers are the Dbacks. I did those teams in order to get the stadiums and team colors similar, even though I realize the Rays and Dbacks are in the wrong leagues they are from. If stadiums don't mean anything, I can do another version where maybe the Expos are replaced by the Dbacks and the Mariners are replaced with the Rays? That would have them in the correct leagues at least and similar team colors still.

Let me know if you think I should make more roster changes.  Enjoy and...PLAY BALL!!!

  2. So sorry for the delay, work got super busy and just never got around to posting.

So here are the rosters I currently have in place for the new and revised All-Time Greats mod. I welcome any feedback! Let me know if you think someone should be replaced or changed.  I'll post the NL rosters tonight and post the AL rosters tomorrow morning.

  3. Been a long time since I have posted on here. So I recently went over my all-time greats hacks and started "updating" the rosters to be a little more modern. I was watching a YT video of someone playing the hack and noticed some comments were saying they felt as though some more modern players should have been in the game.

So basically I am removing most of the dead-ball era and pre-expansion era (before 1960) players unless they are huge household names. So guys like Ruth, Williams, Musial, Gehrig, Mantle, Cobb, etc. will still be present. But the lesser known today (but still great) players have been removed. Not sure if anybody has interest in this, but I will post it for on here if enough people reply on here. I also have added a few players to the teams that now have a good 4-6 yrs of MLB experience and are worthy of making these rosters now (for example, Tatis, Judge and Lindor are now all present).

One other thing I decided to do for this newer version of the hack to sort of add more excitement to the game is apply the Game Genie codes that give you a strikeout after only 2 strikes and a walk after only 2 balls. I also applied the cheat code on this new version that basically fixes the SPD and DEF for players on defense. So SPD now affects a player on the basepaths as well as out in the field and the DEF rating is now strictly for the player's arm strength only. So now a player like say Don Mattingly or Pulols will be amazing in the field but will still be semi-slow like they were in real-life.

I am going to post the roster lineups I am probably going to go with in the next few days and would love any feedback or criticism. Let me know if you think a player doesn't deserve to be in this game. Or a player who you think does.

  4. Thanks for the help. I'm trying to get acclimated still lol Sorry to bother you again, but let's keep using Maddux as our example. So would the code be 2021 if I wanted his ERA to be 2.88? That's what my ROM is showing it is in the Hex Editor. Just want to make sure I am doing it correctly. BTW, thanks for helping me out!

If you don't mind, would you mind helping explain how to change their physical features using your table/spreadsheet you shared? Specifically for the batters in the lineup and also the pitchers' for when they bat/the team edit screen and also for pitchers for in-game and their appearance when going through a team's rotation.

I may be of service! I have been using WINDHEX, but the Hex Editor in snes9x has really helped because you can make live edits! I found all of the information that you need to change appearance for pitchers, ERAs, and even the position of the batter's bat!

Here is information for what each part of the code edits: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hN8UYuadu3SImXri0MR9jLJY7lm84_Da/view?usp=sharing

and I created a HEX table to edit teams and players names: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-LOp1ktUJsu7hIo6Jhj-eD1Z1nCvkI_a/view?usp=sharing

    I hope this helps!

First of all, thanks for taking the time to even respond! It is greatly appreciated. I didn't think I was ever going to get a response on here, as it seems like the forum is mostly dead for KGJB. So I have a question, and this is coming from a total beginner in terms of hex-editing, but where do you even start? I think my problem is I am not sure exactly where to start with something and how to get from point A to point B in order to make a change.

For example, say I want to make Greg Maddux's (1st pitcher slot on the Braves) ERA a 6.66. How would I start to go about that using the tools you mentioned and lists you provided? I guess I just need a quick step-by-step run through for a simple change so I can at least grasp what I am doing and get the hang of this. Bear with me, as I know I am a total newb at this right now. But I really want to learn how to do this so I can share my ROMs with everybody on here. I have been wanting to release hacks for every season and really want to be able to figure out the pitcher bodies, ERAs and hitter bodies before finishing them and sharing them on here.

Again, thanks for responding and sharing the info and trying to help a very wet behind the ears beginner! I was excited to see someone responded on here!

My next hope is to get the team logos I have done for all the different eras of baseball into these hacks I am working on as well. But that's a whole other ballgame as they say and probably a huge undertaking. But at least I have the graphic files already to implement when I finally learn how that is done exactly.

  6. Bringing thins thread back to life. So I have a question, hopefully it's an easy answer. I was curious to know what specific programs and emulators use to hex edit your ROMS? The reason I ask is because I have been doing some KGJ hacks in my spare time and would like to release them on here, but I still need to know how to edit the pitcher's appearance on the mound as well as getting pitcher ERA's that are above 5.11 into the game (for those unaware, the KGJB editor doesn't allow you to do ERAs above 5.11). I tried using snes9x's editor version, but am a little lost. Just need some help and figured I would ask on here. Wish there was an online guide with photos or a YT video for this specifically.

Anyways, anyone want to help me out in terms of getting pitcher appearances and their ERAs above 5.11? lol Thanks!

  7. Ken Griffey Jr Baseball - Original '94 Version with Fixes, Names and Updates

    View File

I did this a few years back and figured I would share it. It's basically the original '94 game but with rosters that are more accurate with various fixes and corrections and updates/revisions.

*This also has all the players' actual real names input in already as well

    FIXES AND UPDATES INCLUDED

    • Physical appearances have been fixed, so you will notice Glenallen Hill (CHC), Ryan Bowen (FLO), Lenny Webster (MIN), Butch Davis (TEX), Brian Williams (HOU), Jacob Brumfield (CIN) are now black (they were incorrectly white before) and Rob Deer (BOS), Kevin Brown (TEX) and Ben McDonald (BAL) are now white (all 3 were incorrectly black in the original) and many other players whose skin tones were wrong (too dark or too light). Some guys' hair colors or haircuts & facial hair were wrong in the original (Jeff Kent for instance now has his trademark blonde hair and 'stache) and have been fixed and some player physiques have also been revised/corrected as well.

    • Players that had incorrect batting or pitching sides were fixed. Example: Ozzie Guillen (CHW), Chip Hale (MIN), BJ Surhoff (MIL), Greg Myers (CAL), Dave Hansen (LAD), Mike Pagliarulo (BAL), Ernie Riles (BOS), Dave Nilsson (MIL), Scott Cooper (BOS) and Jeff Reed (SF) were all incorrectly RH hitters in the original and Darren Lewis (SF) was incorrectly a LH - all have been fixed. Quite a few other players were also corrected who previously had incorrect batting or pitching sides.

    • Some players were replaced in this version. The original had a few fake players so those were replaced (3B on the Angels, OF on the Pirates, OF on the Marlins). There were also a few players that barely played in the original, so I replaced those guys with players who had more playing time. You'll notice a few rookies from '94 that got their first cups of coffee in '93 on here now too, such as Ryan Klesko on the Braves, Jim Edmonds on the Angels and Bob Hamelin on the Royals.

    • Players' ratings were changed if they were inaccurate. A lot of player ratings in the original were inaccurate, whether they were undervalued (Edgar Martinez, Harold Baines), overvalued or just plain, flat out wrong or way off (ahem...Dean Palmer, The Big Hurt and Piazza's DEF anyone?), so those were all updated and changed. Of course Barry Bonds, who was infamously underrated in the original (a 6 rating for DEF? Really?! lol I am a huuuge Dodgers fan and even I think that was a huge diss) is now rightfully the best player in the NL and as good as Junior in the game.

    • Lineups and pitching rotations are more accurate to what was actually used from Jul-Sep '93 now.

    • Players that were, for whatever reasons, missing-in-action but should have been in the original game are now present. So Vinny Castilla (COL), Dick Schofield (TOR), Kirk McCaskill (CHW), Jeromy Burnitz (NYM), Frank Bolick (MON), Kevin Baez (NYM), Rich Rodriguez (FLO), Scott Kamieniecki (NYY), Mark Clark (CLE), Greg Briley (FLO), Frank Tanana (NYY), Cris Carpenter (TEX), Rheal Cormier (StL), Jeff Mutis (CLE), Bobby Ojeda (CLE) and Junior Felix (FLO) are all ready to play ball like they always should have been.

    Enjoy! and "PLAY BALL!"

Hi there.  Thank you for sharing this! I am a little confused when it comes to Ken Griffey's Baseball.  When I play this updated game, there are no names assigned to rosters (similar to the original game) - Yet, when I look at your screenshots, I can see the names of all the greats.  Is there something I must do in-game to populate player names?

I think this is common, but not sure what causes it. There is an easy trick that should fix it though. Try going into the Team Edit option and reset each roster for each specific team. I believe this will load up the rosters.

I am not sure what causes this, but I believe it only happens on certain emulators. I never have the issue when playing hacks on my SNES Classic, but then have to do the reset trick when using ZSNES9x on my PC desktop.

Anyways, thanks for downloading, enjoy thr game and I hope that helps you out! Let me know if that works or not.

  9. I just very recently started getting into doing hex editing. I really have no idea what I am doing, but managed to fool around and get team names and stuff. I guess trial and error and just experimenting is the best way to learn! One thing I would love to do is redo the logos in the game. I did a few, but am not sure how to even begin to see how I can attempt to get them into the game.

Here are some I did recently:

  10. Already got 5 teams knocked out for this Best of the '10s version of KGJB! Hoping to upload it for you guys in a couple of weeks.

A couple of quick side notes, for my all-time greats '98 expansion release, I replaced Texas with Arizona and Houston with Tampa. But for these new Decade's Best series of releases I will be doing, I think I'll replace Colorado with Arizona and Detroit with Tampa. Also, unlike my all-time greats release, I will allow players to appear on more than one team for these Decade's Best releases. Example, for the Best of the '00s game, you'll see Vlad on the Expos and Angels, Piazza on the Dodgers and Mets' rosters for the Best of the '90s game or Mr. October on the Yanks and A's for the Best of the '70s.

Preview of the Rockies' Best of the '10s roster

Pictured at the top is the 2013 Braves Roster, which is option 1. Pictured on the bottom is the 2011-2019 Ultimate Braves roster, which would be option 2. Vote and I will work on whichever version you guys decided to go with!

    2011-2019 Braves.png

  12. I wanted to work on some more Griffey versions of the SNES game since baseball season is in full swing and we are all hunkered down in our homes and figured I would ask for your guys' input on this. Would you rather see a best of the decade version featuring specific teams from the decade, like the '19 Dodgers, '18 Red Sox, '18 Brewers, '14 Angels, '16 Cubs, '17 Indians, etc.? Or would you rather see a best of decade version featuring the best players for each team all on one roster? So any player from say the Yankees would be considered if they played any time from 2011-2019? Let me know what you guys would rather see and I will be posting it on here in a week or 2! Also, I will start with the 2010s and then work my way back and do each decade. Also, for the 2010s and 2000s , I will do versions that will have the Diamondbacks and Rays represented as well for those 2 decades.

Thanks, be safe and "Play Ball!" And don't forget to vote! Your input is very important and needed.

    P.S.

** I added a couple of preview screenshots to let you guys get an idea for what I mean. The first roster shown below is a roster comprised of the best Dodgers from 2011-2019 (top) and the other roster pictured below is the '19 Dodgers' roster (bottom) **

  13. No, you can, but the program is sort of glitchy. Here's how you will have to go about doing it...

For batters, if you want them to have a 10 BAT and a 10 POW, do the following when entering the ratings:

Input 11 for the BAT and 0 for the POW. Save the team stats. Go to any other team other than the one you just made the changes to. Now go back to the team you are editing, and you should see your player's BAT and POW as 10 and 10. You will have to do the same thing for SPD and DEF, too. So, essentially if you want to make a batter's ratings all maxed out, input 11 for BAT, 0 for POW, 11 for SPD and 0 for DEF.

For pitchers, you have to do the same exact thing for their SPD and CON ratings that you did for the batter's ratings. Put in 11 for their SPD and 0 for CON to get a 10 rating for both. You don't have to do this for their FAT though. So for a maxed out pitcher, you would input 11 for SPD, 0 for CON and 10 for FAT.

Hope that makes sense and helps you on your problem!

    **SIDE NOTE**

I forget how to, but there is a glitch in the program that also allows you to get a FAT rating higher than 10. I've been able to get it to 17 or 18 before and you can probably get it to be 99 if you tried. This essentially would make the pitcher never tire. Try messing with numbers for that rating. If I remember right, you have to put in a very high number for their CON or FAT and then switch back and it somehow allows the FAT to go over 10. Wish there was a way you could do that for other ratings! Lol

  14. I think this also happens when you load games in other emulators sometimes, too. Just go to to the 'Team Edit' on the options screen and pick the team you want the roster for and click 'Team Reset'. Once you do that and save, the names and stats should all load and pop up. You have to rinse and repeat this process for each team individually though.

  15. Ken Griffey Jr Baseball All-Time Edition version

    View File

Here is a new-and-improved update to the All-Time Edition I did last year for the first Griffey on SNES. Differences from this version and the last are pretty distinct. I corrected a fwe things, revised some lineups and rosters as well as rating the players differently so it would make a more evenly balanced game.

For my original release I used a player's 5 best career years, regardless of the team and regardless if the seasons were not in a row. While this may be more fun I suppose since players will be a lot better, it also made the game a little less balanced. So, for this release, I decided to take a player's 7 best seasons. Also, the 7 seasons had to be consecutive (except if they missed significant time due to injury or a suspension or military service) AND they had to be seasons from which the player played on the team he is represented on in the game. This helped make things a lot more balanced as well as making it a whole lot easier for me to rate the players.

I also changed how I rated a player on their defense. I used a combination of Defensive Runs Saved, FLD%, Assists, dWAR, Caught Stealing % and Zone Ratings as well as taking Gold Gloves into account. This definitely lowered a lot of fielder ratings across the board and I think it's much more accurate. One good example of how this changed player ratings would be Jeter on the Yankees. His DEF rating is now a more realistic 7 since I now took into account his horrible range factor this time. Overall, I am a lot more happy with this version than the previous one and hopefully you are, too! I guess version 1.0 is more extreme, so you have a lot more guys rated 9 or 10 where as this one has far less players rated as highly.

I included both the regular version here as well as the '98 expansion version, which replaces 2 teams so you can play as Tampa and Arizona if you want. (See the original v1.0 thread for details on that).

    Enjoy!

Feel free to give any criticism or feedback and if you notice any mistakes. I had Harmon Killebrew as a Lefty in v1.0, but thanks to someone on here that pointed this error out, he is now a Righty like he should be.

  16. Thanks for the feedback! Glad you guys are enjoying it! Also, I will fix the error with Killebrew being a lefty in the game.

Speaking of updates, I actually did a more recent version of my all-time release over this past summer.

A few roster changes here an there, some lineup shifting and rotation shuffles. But the biggest change I did was regarding player ratings. I originally used player's 5-yr career best averages, but felt like there were too many red and orange (i.e., really darn good) guys in the game and it was slightly unbalanced. On this newer version, I decided to take a players' 7 year career best seasons instead of just 5, as well as making the rule that the 7 seasons had to be in succession or in a row (exceptions were military service or if a player missed the majority of a season due to injury). I also made it a rule that whichever team the player represented, his 7 year span had to mostly be on that team. So for instance, Mark McGwire is on the A's in the game, so his 7-yr span is 1989-1997 (1993 and 1994 were skipped since he missed most of those seasons).

The result of using the 7-yr spans instead of 5 definitely made the game more balanced with less red and orange players and even some lime and teal green players appearing.

I also fine tuned how I determined a player's skill ratings, which also helped balance the game out more.

Anyways, I will post the new updated versions if anyone has interest on here. I feel like the new versions are a much better experience and more balanced and fun. Some teams are still better than others, but overall, there are not as many near perfect players and this makes for a more even playing field and enjoyable game.

Let me know and I will post the new versions!

  17. Yeah, it's bizarre and even more odd that it's different with every team, too. As for the chewing, blowing bubbles, practice swing and bat grip animations, I am 99.9% sure it is just associated with the batting stances. I am not 100% sure, but think the strike out animations are connected to which batting stance/legs you use. I may do a test to prove if this is accurate or not.
