  1. $400 for the entire day - plus getting in the day before all-day for setup. I didn't want to advertise this, but if people are curious - that's what I put down to book the hall. The following is a strawman of my budget I put together even before getting started/posting: Costs Hall: $400 T-Shirts: $700 - $850 if max registration (t-shirt cost varies based on order size, colors, front/back, etc.) but average $13 - $17/per unit Grand Prize: Up to $500 Runner Up: Up to $200 Promotional t-shirts for spin-up tournaments: $240 ($20/unit, since such a small order, ordered 12) Marketing/print/social media/banners/signage: $150 - $200 Equipment: (consoles, TVs, games, AV, etc.): $300+ All-in costs could max out around $2,500 - $2,700. If maxed attendance at all "list" price, my 'best case' would be $35 x 76 = $2,660; less eventbrite fees, taxes, etc. +/- $2,200ish. However, average ticket price with giveaways are averaging closer to $29 - $31 with promotions, events, out of pocket costs, etc. So if we did max out at 76 even all in $2,400; again less taxes, fees, etc. end up around $2,000 or so. Overall, definitely not taking anything home at the end of the day which is the way it should be and i'm glad to invest in having some large-scale, competitive, tecmo. I think having our own dedicated space and the cost to rent the hall will be fun. I definitely considered a bar or restaurant, but I think it will be nice to have our own space and I'm not losing a ton of $ and it's fun. Hope to see you guys here. Thanks. Tom
  2. Yeah I rented an American Legion Hall so it's a dedicated space and they'll have real cheap beers too - supposedly $2 beers! I have a meeting this week to confirm all the last minute logistics, etc. but i figured this would be ideal for gameplay so it's essentially our house, our time, our spot, our bar! 1st and 2nd do have cash prizes - but we'll have others as well. Trying to do as much as I can for everyone. Also we just confirmed we'll also have Tipsy Raccoons onsite as well in addition to our free-play arcade: http://www.glitchbit.com/ But yeah, I wrote a check for the venue which was fine and more than glad to do. Like I said, I wanted to do it right and get us our own space. I'm taking off work the two days before the event to do most of the work, setup, haul in arcade cabinets, etc.
  3. Grand prize I mean just first place - I have a number of other prizes and things lined up for participants and other on-goings thanks to support from vendors
  4. I'd say pretty much every dollar coming in is going out the door - I'm definitely losing money overall with investment in new consoles, tvs, games, controllers, prizes, shirts, venue, signage, etc. but I do it b/c I love it and want to grow this thing grassroots and with you guys. I'm doing the grand-prize pool based on % of registration; so right now today with 48 registrants that puts us at 63% of goal so grand prize would currently sit at and around $315. If we get to the full 76 registrants we'll be at $500 grand prize; which I'm hoping we'll be able to do. We're having a piece go out on local news (channel 19 & 43 later this week) and we were in the large Cleveland paper, Plain Dealer on Saturday - and have seen a definite spike in reg. But I don't know the exact % dollar for dollar; I'm calculating based on percent to goal of registration because there are so many of the other hard cost variables (above). Plus, with giving away some registrations for events, discount codes, etc. I don't have a definitive dollar for dollar calculation. Hope this helps! Thanks. Tom

  9. Hot off the press - Tecmo Cleveland featured by local press at PressureLife Cleveland Magazine - the full article is here: http://pressurelife.com/tecmo-cleveland-touchdown/ Great stuff - and I gave a shout out to the larger TecmoBowl.org and Madison community as well - thanks again @davefmurray - gave you a direct shout out as well - wanted to make sure you guys are recognized for the great community you've built. It's amazing.

  15. Let me know who won the Tecmo Cleveland entry too - glad to pass along - congrats dudes
  16. We will do walk-ins the day of, but we'll likely have to cut it off by 11-11:30 because the tournament is scheduled to start at noon and there won't be any day of discount or guarantee of shirt size/availability. If you register ahead of time it's just easier/cheaper for everyone overall but we get the scheduling thing is a challenge too.
  17. We're also donating a free entry ($35) to Tecmo Cleveland to support Midwest Tecmo!!! We wish we could be there in person but we'll be at the Cleveland Classic Arcade Gaming (CCAG) expo the same day. We're true nerds all around - Glad to support the Tecmo community!!!
  18. Yes, all prelims give attendees a chance for free entry if they win first place. There are no max sign-ups for these tournaments as they support the larger Tecmo Cleveland effort and local bars/restaurants. If you win an entry at one of the tournaments by coming in first, I would just not be able to honor another free entry because it's demoralizing to all other attendees, if that makes sense? We've yet to have this problem yet as someone new/different has won each time - which is great! But, by all means come to as many as you want until you win and even beyond that *you could always give your entry to the runner-up!
  19. Congrats to the @tecmo_ninja - Chris Hendershot for slaying it last night - Chris won a free pass ($35) for Tecmo Cleveland! Boom. It was a battle though between Chris and @The Ultimate Weapon - great works and thanks for coming out guys
