EddieZ reacted to Deviled Greg in Wayne, NJ - 6/1/19 - The 2019 Jersey Cup
One more time thanks to everyone who came out, some guys from pretty long distances. I hope we made it worth the trip. Thanks to all that tuned into the stream, and those that shared the tournament on social media, I appreciate it. To the Northeast roadie crew - Brian, Erik, Pat B, and Leif (rocking some amazing TB Bucs pants) thanks for all the help and grunt work getting this thing set up. Ray, what can I say, you're the man. Just finished watching the stream and it was great as usual.
Brian R's 49ers won the season sim lotto.
The "Hold on to Your Butts" winners were Stu C with 432 yards gained with Marion Butts and Erik M (arncoem) holding him to just 3 yards.
Big props to Anthony M on an amazing run. Beating Northeast heavyweights Matt D, last years champ Brian R, and Kevin S (tadaos) on his way to the final.
Erik, congrats champ. You played great all day and deserved it. Between you and Brian, you guys have given me a lot of insight and wisdom on what it takes to run a tournament.
We ran a little long this year. Going back to the drawing board to see how I can streamline the day a bit further. Hope to see you all back next year, lets keep this thing going!

I'm gonna try and make this tournament again this year.
If you're in the CT area, I highly recommend this tournament. Last year was my first trip to the tournament (and Connecticut) ever and ARNCOEM ran a solid, professional tournament. The venue is spacious with great food. If you haven't been to this one, you should check it out!

This event is one of my favorites (top 3) in the nation, I've attended this event twice and had a blast. It is highly recommended and is one of the most elite tournaments in the Northeast.
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend, but if you have the chance to attend, do so, you won't regret it. I believe last year had over 50 participants. Great time with great guys.

EddieZ reacted to MattyD in Wayne, NJ - 05/19/18 - The Jersey Cup
Congrats to Brian! I think he is probably the most deserving of hosting this with all the years' he has been in the finals and fell a bit short.
Also, Greg--you crushed it with hosting your first tournament. Trophy, custom coins and venue were all great! It was good to see some new faces and some familiar ones from years' past.
Ray- Great job with the stream! You da man!
Erik M. was also extremely helpful as always and brought a lot to the tournament. He does an awesome job with helping out and ensures everything goes smoothly. Good job to Erik as well!
I told Brian probably about 3 games before the final it was his day. I predicted Shawn and him to be in the final (again) about four years' ago in NJ they both played in the final with Brian falling short in a SD vs TB match-up, I believe.
I was disappointed in my defensive performance on the day. Was pretty rusty and fell short to Okalahoma Bo in a CLE-GB match-up. He played very well.
These tournaments get tougher and tougher every time we play, i think the amount of reps we all have versus one another by now is pretty up there. Can't wait for more tournaments throughout the year.
See (some of you) in Philly.

I'm not exactly a wordsmith but I thought I'd give it a try.
First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who made it out Saturday. I couldn't ask for a better showing to a first time tournament.
Erik, thanks for taking me under your wing and helping this thing run smoothly. With 9 tournaments under your belt yourself, I definitely appreciated all the advice and tips. Not to mention all the equipment, set-up, break down. Hope you were able to enjoy yourself.
In the eleventh hour, Ray really came through and did an amazing job with the stream. Top notch. I was able to go back and watch and its phenomenal. Had me cracking up with some of the commentary.
Also thanks to everyone else who brought equipment, or helped set-up/break down, anyone who shared a post, etc
The day itself started out like the previous 3 days in NJ, a lot of rain. Thankfully it was not too heavy and didn't make unloading the equipment too troublesome. Pool Play went smooth and my initial nervousness about running a tournament for the first time was just subsiding when the power cut out on the whole street! Think Ravens-49ers super bowl. My heart dropped and I immediately thought this tournament was doomed.Thankfully it was right after the first batch of bracket games so we didn't need to replay games once it came back on 20 minutes later. I had a nice win in the Sweet 16 with a last second Butler 50+ FG, tied at 10 with DT bearing down on me for the block. Lost in the Elite Eight to Barletti, 0-3 against him now, just can't seem to beat that guy haha
But the man of the hour was Brian. He lost his first Pool Play game to Eddie Z pretty handily, and then did not lose again. Ripped off 7 W's in a row. Had to beat Erik, Barletti, and finally Shawn all in a row to win the Cup. I definitely enjoyed going back and watching those last two games. They were great, tight contests. Its funny the last time there was a tournament in NJ it was the same final with Shawn coming out on top. Couldn't be happier for Brian, the first tournament I ever attended was one of his in 2012 and he was very welcoming and introduced me to this awesome Tecmo community. Its so much more than just the game. Happy I can be a part of it.
Oh and did I mention he also won the grand prize in the raffle, the Joe Montana signed poster? Yeah he had a pretty good day! Congrats champ. Your name will be the first to be engraved on the Jersey Cup!
Thank you guys for all the compliments, the main thing I want is for all of you to have a great time. Hopefully we can just keep making it better every year. Got some cool ideas for next years tournament brewing already. Hope I see some of you at the other Northeast tournaments this year.

EddieZ got a reaction from Tecmo-Mad-Brad in I just saw the Colts make the Super Bowl
I don't think I have the mental stamina to go for another 900 seasons. I did keep a spreadsheet for the 100 I did. The 49ers made it to 59 SB's and won 40 of them. They won the NFC West 99 times with the Saints winning it once. Some other interesting stats:
A division winner won 79 SB's with a Wild Card team taking 21.
The Jet's and Patriots were the only teams to go 0-16.
Dave Waymer had 23 Ints in one season
The Seahawks won 5 SB's, The Broncos 3 and the Chief's 0
I attached the spreadsheet to this post if you're at all interested. I'm definitely curious to see some info from a 1000 season sim.

EddieZ reacted to Tecmo-Mad-Brad in I just saw the Colts make the Super Bowl
Many years ago I knew a guy that auto played like 1,000 seasons and kept some data. The 49ers won the SB at least half of the time if I remember right, and won their division 90+ % of the time. I'm going to look for that thread and I'll post it here if I can find it.

EddieZ reacted to BO FB Offtackle Left in I just saw the Colts make the Super Bowl
I just played a season with the Eagles because I like beating up on the CPU like that, and the Colts made the playoffs with a 9-7 record, then beat the Oilers, Bills, and Chiefs to make the Super Bowl. Now I have to play the Super Bowl as the Eagles against the Colts. First time I've ever seen the Colts make the Super Bowl in 25 years of playing. Oh and I also had to play the Saints in the playoffs, who had just beaten the Bears. I have the 49ers to knock off in the championship.
-
EddieZ got a reaction from Donnie Dohnson in I just saw the Colts make the Super Bowl
That's awesome! I didn't even think it was possible. A few years ago I auto played 100 seasons in a row to see who would win it all. The Colts were the only team that never made the playoffs.
