  1. We are very pleased to announce that Green Bay Packers all time leading rusher Ahman Green will be at the tournament competing in and helping commentate the action all weekend! Ahman is also part owner of our broadcast sponsor, TGFN. Together we will be streaming the action on twitch.tv/tgfnretro. Details regarding how to obtain an autograph from Ahman while at the same time blessing someone in need will be announced before the day of the tournament.
  2. A big thanks to our newest sponsor, Titletown Financial Services LLC, who is providing pizza for us Friday February 22nd during the Tecmo Super Bowl tournament!
  3. I wonder if that play in game was on the stream. It's been so long I don't remember. At least the results can be confirmed if something is missing, although it would involve combing through some footage.
  4. We are please to announce that the winner of this Tecmo Super Bowl tournament will earn free entry to Mort's Tecmo Players Championship, tentatively slated for April 6th, 2019 in Chicago Illinois. This is a $100 value, and up for grabs to the best player come February 22nd!
  5. The NHL94 community courtesy of Smozoma took the time to collect all known local player data from all tournaments that submitted said data to them. This data was used to formulate a local worldwide ranking. While it isn't a perfect system, it does help over time with the tournament seeding process. Over time the rankings do evolve and tend to self level based on performance against active players, not unlike a BCS system. Thanks for taking the initative with this.
  6. Our friends at Press Start Games have again stepped up to help sponsor the event weekend. We will be giving away 3 gift cards over the weekend thanks to them!
  7. Sorry for the double post. Mort's tournament posting just went live over on Tecmoworld. http://tecmoworld.com/viewtopic.php?f=1557&t=47992&fbclid=IwAR3JhgCIad4pmuRpzatdI9DUKCRkntt7kOttvocrO8LsvruE-jIkw3bDkEk
  8. A great job you did too! I was impressed with the increased Tecmo knowledge from one year to the next. @PunkyQB since this post it appears that Mort is going to in fact run his TPC event in Chicago April 13th. He stated he's not targeting anything large, and I do know there is much higher buy in($100). The idea is to build the pot quickly between a smaller of experienced and elite players, essentially skipping over the typical mismatches one might see in a seeded group play stage tournament. That being said, the number of games you play is more than 10(based on last time) so it's not a bad value. Chances are that I'll be involved on some level with it, either on the broadcast side of things, and perhaps in additional equipment. If you do decide to run something in the Madison area near the same time frame, chances are that I cannot attend it, but I'd be happy to lend a half dozen setups(game, controllers, console, cables, CRT) as long as you can come get them/bring back in a reasonable time frame.
  9. Not quite sure you read my last post correctly. No performance based comments were made or implied in my statement.
  10. Whatever ends up happening, let's hope all those that want a Tecmo experience in their area can continue to experience it. Best of luck in NYC.
  11. When Milwaukee seemed on death's door, Mort stepped up and made a tournament happen for those that wanted it on short notice. It sounds like he's willing to do something similar. All signs point to Mort advancing the timeline of his 2019 TPC tournament to April tournament to fill the void within reasonable driving distance of Madison, as there seems to be demand for Tecmo in April. Option 1) Chicago or a surrounding region of Chicago(Mort and Flo's home field advantage) Option 2) Milwaukee(Chris Case has some connections to a larger venue than Boomers) Option 3) Madison(PunkyQB has some connections in that area to lock down a suitable venue) If this does in fact happen, a number of people have already pledged to assist with equipment, setup ETC. I wouldn't expect anything near the spectacle of past Madison tournaments, but at least the demand would be filled for those willing to stretch themselves outside of the Madison zip code assuming option 1 or 2 is what ultimately happens. In the meantime, I'd suggest making sure to hit up Tundra, Tomczak, our Feb 22nd event, Kumite, and anything else regional, as I'm sure each of them are likely to see a surge in participation given this recent announcement. Support the tournaments out there that exist, when you can, while they still exist.
  12. I was extremely stoked and surprised when the owner of Player 2 Arcade Bar in Appleton, WI asked me if this would be a cool prize for sponsorship at our Tecmo tournament February 22nd. I'll let you be the judge. BTW, Player 2 Arcade Bar is a fantastic place to hang out, and play classic arcade games and pinball. They even modded their SNES Playchoice to play a NHL94 cartridge.
  13. Registrations for Tecmo started rolling in this week, some pretty notable names already in Cabarello, Mort, Green Majik, Nelson79, and the ever Tecmo improving NHL94 god known as Angryjay93 all signed up.
  14. Tournament stats are now available! https://www.retrosportsgamer.net/full-nelson-hardcore-tecmo?fbclid=IwAR2-nx_VCovbxInG0VpSWscZZC2uoPZWFQLn913Vf5cM47kEK7xYFrYWU_I
  15. This event is officially live. I will update with any notable items, number of players that have signed up, and prizes.
  16. We had a good turnout. It became clear nearly immediately that that bar was going to be packed, and it was. Off the the top of my head here's who came out... Will S Nelson79 Timpapi NMUFred Hankthetank Nate Rykal Bryan P Chachi Jon B Big Johnson Danny Nate England and finally myself There was zero chance of Internet behaving, and since space was a premium, we didn't stream. What we did accomplish was give a bunch of novice players an opportunity to get some games in, as well as some friendly pickup games between some veterans.
  17. Less so much a tournament, more of a get together. So far about 10 confirmed to get together over at Boehmer's Bar in Howard tonight 7:30 till midnightish. There is no cost to participate, and all single serve alcoholic drinks for those that participate are $1 off. Out of this get together, a tournament of sorts may break out, or may not. Due to the skill gaps, we'd do a pick your team draft, best players pick last, worst players pick first etc. If the Internet cooperates i'll stream on Twitch.tv/trojan1979 https://www.facebook.com/events/284029438778800/ if you want to RSVP there. Should have 4-5 systems in play, all CRT and Real NES. Drink, play Tecmo, be merry. I'll snap some photos, and post results if a tournament actually happens. If you are anywhere close to Green Bay, come out and join us, even if you don't want to play. Happy Thanksgiving to all! -Trojan
  18. Ah yes, the famous DPS, who's name is as widely known as Regulator, Joeygats, Mort, Ruble, SonofPatBeach, KingSoby, The Vogts, and Bruddog. How could have I been so short sighted? Was awesome having you bud.
  19. A full recap of Full Nelson is posted on Tecmoworld with pictures and video links. http://tecmoworld.com/viewtopic.php?f=1557&t=47987
  20. Wish I could hang with you guys this time. My wife will be gone all day Saturday, so I'll be watching the stream. @Darth RockMan you did a nice job with your stream last year.
  21. William Wallace: Yes, I've heard. Defeats Tecmo players by the hundreds. And if he were here, he'd consume the tournament with fireballs from his eyes, and bolts of lightning from his arse. I can understand the confusion. I met the People's Champ at the Hardcore Tecmo Championship in Chicago, and he must have said Nostradamus at least 20 times. Congrats to Mort. He certainly seemed to be on another level when I saw him on stream. Much thanks to @noonanstreaming the action all day.
