  1. In my dreams for sure. It's hard to throw $200 on top of a 30 year old console, but it's so pretty!
  2. Most sub 50" HDTV displays(especially computer monitors) do not produce any significant input lag if the signal is fed captured from a digital source. The problem typically lies with the integrated composite input on the display, and it's shoddy up-scaling technology, converting analog to digital on the fly. The use of a dedicated hardware upscaler can produce a great result that can be played on. There are plenty of dedicated upscalers out there, with the best being the xRGB mini(Framemeister). Here's a link to a poor man's upscaler, which requires no modification to your consoles. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=9994&gclid=Cj0KEQiA_fy0BRCwiLaQ5-iFgpwBEiQA884sOTiiuU7QCdvBiVvSdiwqJ1DsEEBG9TqYMovYQiRfryQaAuR-8P8HAQ To further improve upon NES hardware image quality, and other retro consoles, this series by My Life In Gaming is a great watch. Here's the intro video to the process, and I'd encourage any retro enthusiast to have a looksy, as CRT displays won't last a lifetime.
  3. Trojan Jr plays TSB. Let me know if this whole jr bracket becomes a thing.
  4. I had some trouble exporting via Twitch to Youtube, so it had to be broken down into 15 minute videos. Here is the playlist. The link on Twitch expires today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVH4yPuL09s&index=1&list=PLBo10ggbB8gPLnuvmNyjlnTjb6uPgawpx
  5. Congrats to SuicideKing81 as the tournament 1st place winner! Nate from Retro4Ever took 2nd place, in a game that was filled with about as many turnovers as completions. https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/12246863_1033845909989286_5846335959814507871_n.jpg?oh=1677d9ec3ed2815b69cf8dcc1ac37cfc&oe=56BBBF08 We hope to get the games separated from the streams fairly soon, but for now enjoy the archives of both streams. http://www.twitch.tv/tecmosuicideking81/v/26024945 http://www.twitch.tv/trojan1979/v/26025012 The Trojan clan will be going on vacation soon, so give us time, and we will update with event photos. Thanks to all that participated!
  6. Update: participants may arrive as early as 5:30 to get registered. We will be setup and ready to rock and roll by then.
  7. Nathan from Retro4Ever will be at our event. We will have a signup station available for the Tundra Bowl at that time. Anyone that shows up and signs up for the Tundra Bowl while at our event, will immediately get $5 back in hand from Nathan, which essentially makes your visit to our event free. Geaux Tecmo!
  8. So does this mess with the whole "no sex in June" rule that millions of fans are now adhering to?
  9. Latest update:31 signups on Facebook, 4 non Facebook users verbally committed, and 17 on the interested category on FB. Our goal is 32 participants to create 8 x 4 player divisions for group play. We do have a local game store chain offering discounts to attendees. Our promo video is done for Battle From the Bayou, a Tecmo Super Bowl tournament. Please share this with as many people as you can, and help make it a great event! ;https://youtu.be/pgrahAEyH7c
  10. Can we please get a roster revision to the Packers defense? BJ Raji is the starting NT, not Letroy Guion.
  11. Boehmer's Bar - Howard, WI 2318 Velp Ave, Green Bay, Wisconsin 54313 Cost $5 Date and time of event: November 15, 2015 6PM - completion of brackets. Check out our promo video here: >https://youtu.be/pgrahAEyH7c Stream Channel(will update as other hosts share):>http://www.twitch.tv/trojan1979 After the Packers lay the smack down on the Lions, come on down and help us welcome Suicideking81 to historic Green Bay. We will have 2 different live streams during this event. SuicideKing81 wanted to make the Tundra Bowl on his visit up from LA to Manitowoc, WI, but the dates didn't line up with the Tundra Bowl in January. In his honor, GBLAN is going to hold a Tecmo Super Bowl tournament in Green Bay during his visit. We will be running a tournament format. Standard Madison Tecmo game rules apply. Pool play for qualifications will place players in a winners/losers bracket. The winners of both brackets will win gift certificates to our venue to pay off said bar tabs. Our average game nights typically draw between 10-20 attendees, and TSB is always a favorite. We can accommodate up to 11 NES + TSB setups(fully legit no clones or emulation), so we can easily accommodate a 64 player bracket, although we'd be thrilled to hit 32. As of 11/1/2015, we have 14 signups, 10 maybes, and additional vocal confirmations not showing up on the Facebook site. The cost is also very cheap, only $5 to participate. The venue knocks off $1 for every drink ordered for any paid participant. Players of all skill levels, are welcome. Let's make this a good showing and make SuicideKing81 feel welcome in WI! Additonal Notes: This is not a tournament with any cash purse or trophies, and the low entry fee is reflected in this. We will have a photographer present, so if you have any concerns with having your picture uploaded on the Internet, please let us know when you arrive. If you cannot arrive immediately at 6, please let us know ASAP when you'd arrive so that we can adjust brackets accordingly. Please click this link to state your intentions and RSVP. https://www.facebook.com/events/902203819847701/ https://www.facebook.com/Green.Bay.LAN/photos/gm.902205186514231/1022303247810219/?type=3
  12. We at GBLAN aren't running any TSB NES tournaments between now and the Tundra Bowl, but we are getting together to practice at least monthly, if not twice a month. We are hoping to get some extra bodies for bracket fodder for the Tundra Bowl. We've had some decent talent poke our heads in that haven't played there yet. Perhaps you can join us for an open game night in November.
  13. Congrats to Andy Early for the win over Phil Enderby in the finals! Here is a link to some pictures from the event. Enjoy! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.989243157782895.1073741830.102375313136355&type=3

  15. https://www.facebook.com/events/401161250079630/ Double the action, double the excitement, double the prizes, double the win! Bar tabs are on the line in this one! Random Select Ultra Street Fighter 4, and Tecmo Super Bowl tournaments! We are starting earlier to jam all this action in! $10 will be the cost for this event. Proceeds go towards funding additional Street Fighter stations and replacing worn out Nintendo controllers. Happy Hour pricing is offered to all participants and their present significant others. Can't wait to see you all there! Just an FYI, our RCA cable livestream person is not likely able to attend, nor is their equipment. If anyone is interested in helping facilitate an option for this event, you will play and drink for free on GBLAN's dime. It's always fun being able to back and time and see what happened. Again the field is typically mediocre at best at these gatherings for the announced games, minus one or two typically. If you live in arms reach of Green Bay, we'd love to meet you. You do not need to bring a controller, but you are welcome to if you play Street Fighter, we do allow BYOC, as we understand comfort level matters. Don't forget to RSVP!
  16. Congrats to all participants. The semifinals and finals matches are being uploaded to Youtube. I will post a link soon. Yours truly edged out our new ringer Phil Enderby, who otherwise had dominated the field. We had many newcomers to the game, as well as seasoned fans. Our next game night is August 23rd. Our next game night link is here..... https://www.facebook.com/events/401161250079630/
  17. Hi guys, At the time I'm posting this, 14 are signed up to mash buttons with us. We will be having a fun casual tournament for TSB during this event, however we do have some modern titles on arcade quality fight sticks as well, mainly Ultra Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6. $5 gets you into the action, and also gets you happy hour pricing from the venue for your entire stay. The prize is pride, a paper plate with the brackets written on it(we keep it classy), and your bar tab being picked up $15 max. FYI $10 should knock you off your bar stool. We will have 4 dedicated Nintendo stations setup( True CRT + NES toaster model and Nintendo brand controllers) We are going to try and stream again like at Big LAN 7. Ringers are welcome, but know that the field is fairly new or terribad at this game. My goal is to have some pool play and then pit the best 4-6 players in a potential wildcard/semi finals bracket. Please RSVP at our event link. https://www.facebook.com/events/526981980791097/
  18. https://www.facebook.com/events/441313602715358/ We are getting together in Green Bay for various game franches including Tecmo Super Bowl, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Soul Caliber, Tekken, and more! There is no cover for this event, and anyone that participates gets happy hour prices for the duration of their visit. If we get enough to show up I'm all for putting down a quick bracket. Thanks, Trojan
  19. Sadly, my weekend took me away before the stream link went up. Are you guys uploading the streamed games to youtube, and if so, which channel should I be following to view them? Thanks for streaming the event. That custom NES though! Looks tight!
  20. I can set up all sorts of classic gaming goodness on short notice. Let me know your plans, and we'll try to get something that works around it.
  21. https://www.facebook.com/events/976357979043916/ 12 hours of Tecmo Super Bowl at Big LAN 7 wasn't enough for some of our friends. Now we're off to the local pub to add beer and pizza to our gaming routine. The word has also gotten out to others about what's happening here in Green Bay with Tecmo Super Bowl! Come and get some games in while enjoying some bar pizza and drinks. We start late when the kids are asleep! Please RSVP so we can have enough setups to accomodate the crowd! If you can't make it, but want information on future get togethers, just visit our page and give us a like. https://www.facebook.com/Green.Bay.LAN All skill levels are welcome and encouraged. This event is free, but please patronize the establishment. $20 goes a long way in a place like this. Thanks, Trojan
  22. http://www.packers.c...d5-f7ec4c95e7c6 This isn't till 2016, so it's quite a ways out yet. If there is interest, and it seems we have plenty of time to plan for it, perhaps the Tundra bowl guys would be interested in being involved in the planning/hosting. I see a huge potential for a North vs South battle.
  23. When is that game scheduled? I don't want to do anything too close to the Tundra Bowl, as I think that's the premier TSB event in town here, and that's their time to shine. That being said, if you were going to be up here, I know we could organize something to get together, especially so if you have some buddies coming. Even if it's just round robin pool play to kill time on the Friday before, it would be great to meet some folks from the south. Geaux Tecmo!
