  3. Green Bay WI, 8-3-2017 6:30PM - GBLAN Presents, 3rd Beebe, a Tecmo Super Bowl Tournament My wife is due with our 3rd child at the end of August. This is the first available Thursday night after baseball season ends for those in our area. Thursday night tournaments have been a great way to get that accelerated tournament experience. Our last two tournaments got us 49 total participants. Here is the official FB page for signup http://tinyurl.com/3rdbeebe Sign up at 6:30, games start by 7PM. Games are played on official NES hardware, or hardware clones with real cartridges, no rom dumps or emulation. Controllers are NES OEM, and games are played on CRT tvs. We can do up to 18 stations, but will likely have 10-12 setup. To this point we haven't had any waiting due to unavailable systems since moving to our Thursday format. Official rules can be viewed on this document. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UYEmVzFUs7dJtfOB7IY-b8n3PpURXaZQH8cX04dh1no/edit?usp=sharing If we exceed 16 players we will use a group play format, followed by a single elim bracket. If we are at 16 or under, we will use a standard challonge double elim bracket. The entire event goes on for about 4 hours typically, with the majority of the field done by 10 or so.. The last two times we had pizza provided by a sponsor, and we are working to see if we can get them onboard again. Drinks are $1 off for participating. Entry fee is $10 per person. Payout is 50% to 1st place, gift certs to 2nd and 3rd place, remaining proceeds go to pay for equipment. Please RSVP on the FB page if you are coming. If you are interested in coming, and not use Facebook, you may message me on the boards, or email [email protected] with your intentions. Hope to see you there! Trojan
  4. @Alexmcm not sure if you found what you were looking for. The biggest challenges for you to play online will be distance and time zone. The bulk of online players are from the US, and as a result, the further you are away from there, the poorer your connection would be, resulting in laggy/unresponsive gaming experiences against other human beings.
  5. Pleading with the wife, if she says yes Tim U and I will make it. If we do that, you can count on some clone systems controllers and carts.
  6. Our regular get togethers in Green Bay, be it casually, or in tournament form really grew over the past 2 years. Our last one got us up to 24. Do I smell a tournament scene popping up?
  7. I'm hoping at some point to be able to help out a local tournament and do just that.
  8. Great job as always with the community Gerald. 4 days after the tournament and all the vids are up, I love it!
  9. You forgot @ImFlo playing urinary target practice on the fence afterwards. Seriously great times. Well done @RetroNathan as always.
  10. This gem of a passing attack happened between Kyle Nelson and Troy Evers tonight. The game was much closer than the score indicates.
  11. Don't feel too bad. There are at least 2 other tournaments in the country in addition to Tundra Bowl happening. Hopefully you get connected to some local players down there. Now you have the resource to see when other regional tournaments are being scheduled.
  12. I'm ok playing wherever they put me, and yes I agree it's nice to play different people if possible. Maybe your pull as the defending Milwaukee and Tundra Bowl champ would afford you some influence there.
  13. I don't think you and I played during the last Milwaukee tournament. I'm sensing sarcasm here on the joy factor.
  14. Last Milwaukee tournament, we setup the night before, and many of those traveling from out of the area came by to get some practice games. It ended up being a lot of fun and gave those already in the area something to do. The venue appreciated the extra business too. Not sure if anything like that is planned or not.
  15. I recently joined a CRT collector group on Facebook, and the general consensus I've seen is that even when HDMI modded NES or Retrousb AVS via HDMI connected to high end gaming monitors with less than 1ms input lag and features like gsync, there is still a noticeable delay, albeit minimal when compared side by side to an analog powered CRT. The thing about digital is that it essentially means, information has to be processed by your display in order to render it. Even if it's lighting fast, there is still a delay created by said processing. This is why we see additional lag introduced by emulators, it's another layer of processing. I could be wrong here, but it's really the kicking game that seems to be the most obvious game play mechanic affected by all of this. Perhaps a rom hack that changed how the kickoff and punt meters were treated, such as changing the location of the arrow, or meter to be one frame behind the indicator. I know this would create a whole new challenge on deployment of all of this, but it could be worth exploring as CRT's are a dying resource. Bruddog is that even possible? Who knows what the future will bring with digital technology. For now I'm sticking with CRT's as long as I have enough of them, and can still get them.
  16. I can't see any images here, not sure if I'm the only one. Thought you'd want to know.
  17. I'm just as guilty for all the bitching, but at least folks here aren't afraid to voice their observations and opinions. Thanks as always Tborg team for your efforts.
  18. Better edit the original post then otherwise most of the players will likely move on. Announcing how much, or what percentage will help as well.
  19. No this isn't a simulation, but I wanted to play it and upload it as soon as I saw the rom come out. It will be down uploading shortly.
  20. Arod only 19 MS? Eddie Lacy 25 BC? I just did a stream whining about all of it like a little bitch. In all seriousness, there seems to be some weird graphical glitch near the top of the stands on Nestopia. https://www.twitch.tv/trojan1979/v/88253028
  21. Halifax is one of the head guys with King of 94, so they are no stranger to running large scale tournaments. Especially if you are on the western side of the US, I would recommend checking this, and the other tournaments out.
  22. Last Tundra Bowl was a lot of fun, and was my first major TSB event. Lots of memorable moments for sure.
