  1. Unfortunately it won't always work out. We've been going strong for 15 years so for us to change now would not be in the best interest for my tournament, and the people who attend. For people starting new tournaments they have the option of moving around dates. When you have an established tournament you shoot for the same time frame that works best for the people in your area. Unfortunately my tournament and the tundra bowl will always be targeted around the same date. As much as I'd love to work out a compromise, pro bowl weekend is the day that works best for my people. My goal is not to steal anyone away from the tundra bowl, but give people other options if that location is to far away.

Bloomington Tecmo is a self funded event, and because of this we don't do cash prizes. We play for the love of the game. I realize some people only play for money, but at our event the atmosphere is equivalent to a Madison after party the whole time. Bloomington is a no pressure tournament that wants everyone to enjoy a game we all love without having to worry about whether or not you will win enough money to cover your tournament expenses. To help provide stress relief we provide an abundance of beer, hard liquor, and food to help spruce up the party. The warehouse that we rent out is 100% our's for this event. With that being said we are still responsible for people's actions at this warehouse. Anybody wishing to play or attend must pay by January 13, 2018. We will not allow walk ins and You must be 21 years old to attend!!!! Each paid person will then be placed on a guest list, and must check in upon arrival. Once you check in you will receive a Bloomington Tecmo rubber wristband that you must wear for the duration of the tournament. All non invited guests, or anyone not on the guest list will be asked to leave. I hate to be that way, but due to liability issues with the business we rent from this is a stipulation that we must enforce. Any other questions, comments, or concerns can be addressed by emailing me at [email protected]. Thanks, and I hope to see you there!
  3. Hey Everyone, I just wanted to throw out this save the date for Bloomington's 15th annual Tecmo Super Bowl tournament. I realize this event is still a long ways away, but I know several other locations hold their tournaments on this date. My goal is not to compete against these other tournaments, but to just throw this out there that next years event will be open to a limited amount of new players. My main goal of this post is to see what kind of interest people have in playing at our event. We usually only allow 32 local competitors, but next year we will be looking to grow. We haven't discussed the number of people we will allow for the next event, but we have the equipment to run 16 systems. A quick run down of what Bloomington Tecmo is about. We are the longest running Beer league tournament that we know of. We've been going strong since January 2004. We run our event in a warehouse building, so the event is invite only. We charge an entry fee to play, but all money is 100% dispersed through prizes, food, and beer. So bottom line this is pretty much a day long drinking festival self funded by the people with a lot of tecmo super bowl added in. Everyone plays for the love of the game, and to earn a shot a winning our custom made championship belt. We don't do cash prizes. We feel this takes the fun out of the game, and makes everyone to serious. Don't get me wrong the level of competition is not easy, but you won't need to be practicing for weeks to play here. We always guarantee everyone at least 6 games so it's not a tournament where you lose, and go home. So if this sounds like something you might be interested in then you can hit me up on here, email me at [email protected], or if you want you can talk to me or any of my other guys at Madison next month. As the date gets closer I will add more details. Thanks! T.Mann
  4. Thanks! I ended up finding the match up on twitch, and watched it.
  5. Sounds good. I'm pretty good about responding by email so you can get a hold of me at [email protected].
  6. We held our annual Tecmo event yesterday too. We are from Bloomington, Illinois. We've been having ours for the last 14 years. We had 36 players. We haven't really broadcasted our tournament, but this will change for next years event. We will start allowing more people to play in our tournament so if anyone is interested just let me know, and I'll get you some more information. This years event was highlighted with an amazing championship game between Tecmo Psycho and Storksdaman. Psycho edged out Stork in overtime 24-21.
  7. Saturday January 30, 2016 the BLONO Tecmo Crew will conduct its 13th annual Super Tecmo Bowl Tournament. The tournament will feature 32 of the drunkest competitors that Bloomington-Normal has to offer. This beer league tournament will start around noon and continue until 1 man, or woman, is left standing. The winner will NOT be awarded any money, but will have the privilege of wearing the Custom made Championship belt for the entire year. Cash prizes are forbidden, because beer drinking is encouraged. All 32 spots have been filled as of right now, but if you're interested in coming to hang out let me know. I can't guarantee anybody a spot, but I will guarantee everyone will have a chance to get some tecmo games in and plenty of beers consumed.
  8. Here is a picture of the Championship Belt that I had Pro Am Belts make for my tournament. I sent them in the ideas and they created it. They are a great company, and I highly recommend them. I'm not sure how much you are looking to spend on something like this, but this custom creation cost $550. It was worth it in my eyes, and my players love it.
  9. Also I wanted to run a quick thought by people. I'm a big fan of playing more games. I know with the number of people that attend Madison this makes this very hard. Has Madison ever considered doing a 3 game guarantee? They could use the same format as they are doing now. You have your 4 regions. Take your 8 groups per region with 8 players in each of them. Instead of having seeds 1-8 you have seeds 1-4. That would mean you would have 2 of each seed in each group. Separate the group into 2 halves by putting a 1,2,3 and 4 on each side. Then conduct a round robin which would consist of 3 games for everyone and allow the winner to advance to the round of 64. This method ensures that 2 people from each group make the round of 64. It is also only 12 games played on each console instead of 13 like the format it has now. Plus only .375% of the 8 man group will play over 3 games so why not change it up to allow everyone the opportunity to get that 3rd game. I know some people come from far away to play and figured why not throw out another option just to see what people thought.
  10. I had a great time at Madison this year. Thanks to everyone who put it on. I played horrible though. I went 0-2. I was the 7 seed and playing the last game in my bracket gave me plenty of time to finish off 5 Bud Light tall boys before my first game. Needless to say I was feeling pretty decent by the time I played. My only beef was the fact that I broke the seal way to early and my t.v. was in the corner. Trying to get to the bathroom made it feel like I was a contestant on American Gladiators trying to work my way through the gauntlet.
  11. Yeah, we were the ones in the BLONO TECMO t-shirts. I'm pretty sure the guy you talked to was Dildo. He told me he talked to someone at the tournament about our tournament, but couldn't remember who when I asked him. He is our team party guy who is at our tournament getting absolutely wasted and probably doesn't remember what happens half of the time. I'm the one who runs the Bloomington tournament if you have any questions.
  12. No Problem. I know the more systems the better. I usually run 8 to 10 systems at my tournament so I can offer more games. I usually run a 24 player tournament and divide the groups into 4 with 6 players in each. I play a round robin format were you play everyone in your group. I then take the top 4 and seed them into a championship double elimination bracket and take the bottom 2 teams and seed them a single elimination powder puff division. I guarantee everyone 6 games. I want to say the tournament lasts about 8 hours. I'm not sure if you've run a tournament before, but the more games you can guarantee I believe the more interest you will receive. Not telling you how to run your tournament just wanted to give you some ideas.
  13. If this dates not set in stone I know Saturday June 20th I could possibly round up my Bloomington crew. Hopefully that would be no less than 6 players. I'm not trying to have you change it if it doesn't work for your people, but just figured I'd give it a try. I run a tournament in Bloomington iillinois so if need be I could bring some of my equipment. I believe I have 8 good systems and games.
  14. Dang. Wish this was a different date. I'll be in Florida. Hopefully some of my Bloomington, Illinois tecmo crew will be able to make it.
  15. And red98sethuthut we were the crew you guys caught trying to cram 6 guys in a little 4 person taxi. Thanks again for the ride!
  16. Thanks! I had it custom made from Pro Am Belts for my tecmo tournament and I'm proud to say it's mine for another year. I won my tournament for the first time in 12 years
  17. A few members from the Bloomington Tecmo Crew coming to represent our beer drinking talents. Looking forward to the big day.
  18. ha ha. I knew being a bills fan would pay off one day! Even though it wasn't in the form of a super bowl victory, It got me a free ride to Madison with some of the best tecmo players out there. Thanks again guys for the ride and maybe one of these days I'll hit you up for some tecmo when I head that way for another bills game.
  19. I know first hand all the headaches there are behind running a tournament because I run my own in Bloomington, Illinois, but my hats off to the Madison crew and the Badger bowl for hosting such an amazing event. I couldn't even imagine all the time that your crew spends putting together this event, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I appreciated everything that you did. I had a great time. I really hope there is a next year because I plan on coming back. Thanks again fellas! P.s. I love how Miller Lite was a sponsor and during the news segment it's got my buddy sporting his 16 oz tall boy of PBR. Thought that was pretty funny.
  20. In room 211 @ super 8 if you're looking for a challenge. Knock on the door. The password is new England clam chowder.
  21. Ok fellow super 8 guests. The boys from Bloomington are rolling in around 5ish Friday night. Im hoping to be loaded down with 3 or 4 tvs & Nintendo's, lots of beer, a bottle of fire ball whiskey and I'm hoping to hold some kind of tournament at the hotel. I know my guys need practice against the veterans so let me know if you're interested in getting something going.
  22. Looking forward to it Red. What time you guys planning on starting this mini tournament? Also Im hoping since you guys are coming from buffalo that you are bills fans. My brother and I are big bills fans and usually represent the bills apparel while playing tecmo bowl
  23. I've got 4 guys coming up from Bloomington Illinois looking to get some games in the day before tournament. We staying at Super 8 on hayes road. I thought I read awhile back that some people getting together to play there. Just let me know if you need more people. We need experience against different opponents. We all know each other's game to well.
