  1. This is an awesome topic, and Public Enemy and Geto Boys are awesome picks for the summer of Tecmo. I always try to think about what Randall Cunningham might have been listening to through his foam-padded Walkman headphones pre-game! The big two for me are the amazing and underrated Deee-Lite and Mother Love Bone. Exhibit A:
  2. Great topic. I have to concur with Seattle's running back tandem, Elway, Rypien and Harbaugh as the most egregious. FENNER: 215 859 4.00 14 JOHN L.: 187 714 3.82 3 ELWAY: 294 502 58.57 3526 15 14 78.5 RYPIEN: 166 304 54.61 2070 16 11 78.4 HARBAUGH: 180 312 57.69 2178 10 6 81.9 I always thought Eric Metcalf and Clarence Verdin needed a higher MS, as they were both considered fearsome returners for their day. Over on defense, Bennie Blades is seriously underrated, as are two of the Saints linebacking corps (Jackson and Mills I want to say).
  3. Just chiming in to say that I, too, would absolutely love to see something like this!
  4. Offhand, I'd say Mike Webster has to be up there. I think he retired the prior to the 1991 season. Ozzy Newsome would be another one.
  5. This thread is hilarious! Keep 'em comin'!
  6. Haha, I'm glad I started this thread! All sorts of ridiculousness going on here. That Cleveland video, man, words fail me. Not a song, but here's some candid footage of Tecmo faves having fun with the late Ray Combs on Family Fued. Lots of classic tomfoolery here. >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf1wYAlua6w

  8. Thanks, Lorak. I've never played any SNES Tecmo, so I'm guessing you should be the guy to do it!
  9. Thanks for the feedback! I think I will do that next time. I just happened to be in the middle of this season.
  10. Hey guys... I've had the idea of posting something Tecmo related to YouTube for awhile, and decided that rather than just posting another useless video of a random game being played, I would attempt to provide some commentary and an instructional element to make it more watchable for viewers. I'm probably not revealing anything that the people on this board don't already know, but I figured it could be useful for the novice or mid-level Tecmoer. Tecmo 101, if you will. Anyway, If any of you would like to check it out, you can view it here: >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kcq1GOuckwU I'm hoping to create some further episodes so long as there's some interest out there.
  11. Woah, crazy! Guess you could say Kane was Insane in the Membrane... or something like that.
  12. I never understood how a WR in Tecmo could have a MS of 19. That's as slow as the slowest offensive lineman!
  13. OMG, Warren Moon's ex is really a piece of work!
  14. Sorry if this thread has been brought up before, but I figured with the recent happenings involving Irving Fryar and Mark Duper, it might be interesting to list some Tecmoers who ran afoul of the legal system. (All quotes courtesy of Wikipedia.) Irving Fryar -- "On Oct. 16, 2013 Fryar was indicted, along with his mother, by New Jersey Attorney General John J. Hoffman on charges they engaged in a sophisticated mortgage loan scheme to defraud five banks of $690,000 in home equity loans. If convicted, Fryar faces 5 to 10 years in prison and a $150,000 fine." Mark Duper -- "Soon after retiring, Duper was charged with conspiracy and intent to distribute cocaine. He was acquitted one year later. Previously, Duper had been suspended in 1988 for 30 days by the NFL for violating its drug policy. In March 2013, Duper was charged for beating his 17-year old son in their Jacksonville home." Eugene Lockhart -- "In 2009, Lockhart and eight others were indicted on Federal charges of organizing a $20 million mortgage fraud scheme in the Dallas, Texas area. [5] In late 2012, Lockhart was convicted and sentenced to 54 months in prison for the fraud." Richard Johnson -- "On Sunday, April 14, 2013, Richard Lavon Johnson, a 51 year old Black Male from Houston, TX was arrested for Aggravated Sexual Assault Of A Child Under 14 Years Of Age - a 1st Degree Felony. Richard Lavon Johnson was booked into Harris County Jail on Monday, April 15, 2013." Lewis Billups -- Too numerous to list here. Nate Newton -- "On November 4, 2001 police in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, arrested Newton after he was found to have 213 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop of Newton's white van.[2] Five weeks later, on December 12, 2001, Newton was again stopped in Texas and was arrested after a search of his vehicle revealed he possessed 175 pounds of marijuana.[3] He was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for drug trafficking, and has since reportedly gone straight, renouncing his past and turning his life around and he now speaks to children involved in athletics about his past." Keith McCants -- "According to a May 15, 2011 Tampa Tribune article, since 2002 McCants has had three convictions on charges of possessing drugs or drug paraphernalia.[39] The article goes on to detail how, since his last new arrest in December 2010, "McCants said he has been clean and doesn't believe he has a drug-addiction problem."" Dave Meggett -- "In 1998, Meggett was arrested in Toronto, Canada, after authorities said he allegedly assaulted an escort worker after a three-way sexual encounter. A trial on the assault charge ended with a hung jury in April 2000.[3] Meggett was the parks and recreation director in Robersonville, N.C. but resigned in 2006, after he was accused of sexually assaulting his former girlfriend.[4] In 2007, he was convicted of misdemeanor sexual battery in the case, receiving two years probation. Authorities said he was allowed to move back to South Carolina to serve his probation. On November 10, 2010, Meggett was sentenced to 30 years in prison for burglary and criminal sexual conduct.[5] Meggett's current release date is slated for July 2034." Lawrence Taylor --Too numerous to list here. Michael Irvin -- Too numerous to list here. Eugene Robinson -- Arrested for soliciting a prostitute in an undercover sting. Luis Shape -- Addicted to crack while playing in the NFL. Andre Rison -- "On July 9, 2012 Rison was sentenced in federal court to five years' probation and required to pay more than $300,000 in restitution for failure to pay child support. Rison was convicted for failing to pay more than $10,000 of child support between August 2008 and August 2011. In addition to the penalties for past due payments, and as a condition of his probation, Rison is expected to continue monthly child support payments of close to $2,350 per month." James Brooks -- "Brooks was arrested in 1999 for failure to pay child support, owing over $110,000. When asked by the judge how he graduated from Auburn, Brooks said, “I didn’t have to go to class.” He served three months of a six months sentence before being assigned to a work release program" Mark Ingram -- "On September 16, 2008, Ingram was sentenced to 7 years in prison and up to 5 years of probation for money laundering and fraud. He was also ordered in a Long Island federal court to pay $252,000 in restitution.[1][dead link] Ingram failed to show up to a federal prison in Ashland, Kentucky to turn himself in on December 5, 2008, and an arrest warrant was issued for him. On January 2, 2009, Ingram was arrested in a Flint, Michigan hotel room, where he was preparing to watch his son play in the 2009 Sugar Bowl. Alabama lost the game to the Utah Utes 31-17.[2][dead link] On March 22, 2010, in a courtroom inCentral Islip, New York, Ingram was sentenced to an additional two years in prison for jumping bail to see his son, Mark Ingram Jr. play for Alabama.[3][4] He is currently housed at Yazoo City Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) as inmate 22749-050." The following players did not appear in the game, but are considered to have been overlooked by the game's creators for uncertain reasons. Darryl Henley -- "Henley is currently serving a 41-year prison sentence for trafficking cocaine and attempting to murder the judge and a witness from his trial by hiring contract killers." Dexter Manley -- "In 1989, Manley failed his third drug test and was banned from the NFL for life, with an opportunity to apply for reinstatement after one year.[3] However, after he failed his fourth drug test, he was permanently banned from the National Football League for life on December 12,1991." Gerald Perry -- "On December 27, 1989 Perry was convicted of soliciting a prostitute, and was sentenced to 15 days imprisonment." Any more to add to the list??
  15. Just came across this on YouTube-- killer sideline cam footage of wk. 1 1990 match-up between the Patriots and the Dolphins. So much awesomeness; the sideline cam makes you feel like you're in a Tecmo game. Look for touchdowns by John Stephens, Marv Cook, Sammie Smith; Dan Marino in his prime; goofy old school Patriots fans; Mosi Tutupu on the sidelines-- even some sweet Grogan action! Oh, and don't forget Zubaz, Zubaz and more Zubaz... Pre-game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ-lQCTtG58 Q2 & Q3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsiIPzh-3pg Enjoy! Jason (Bay Area Tecmo Affiliates)
  16. Hey all, first post here at the forum... I'm part of an informal little Tecmo league here in the Bay Area, if you want to call it that, and we always stick with the original TSB as that's what we grew up with. However, due to the great disparity of talent throughout the NFL that year, we've become burned out on the same old match-ups (Dallas vs. Minnesota and so on). A change was clearly needed, and so on one great morning we donned our draft hats and held the first ever Bay Area Tecmo Super Bowl Fantasy Draft (BATSBFD)! The rules were simple. The draft was done in serpentine fashion to ensure the utmost evenness between franchises, and stats were made available and analyzed ahead of time to determine how each player rated according to their position as well as league-wide (using our patented "JP" system). The draft order was then determined using an online random number generator. Rounds 1-3 were done in person and the rest of the draft was conducted via Skype over a grueling couple of months. Suffice to say that drafting out an entire league is an intense and drawn-out process! The results are what you have here, being revealed for the first time anywhere outside of our league. It's our hope that Tecmoers everywhere will enjoy these well-balanced and very interesting teams! Apart from the new line-ups, careful thought was also put into SIM strength and playbook selection. We hope the "Even Teams" ROM will be enjoyed by leagues and stand-alone players throughout the Tecmo community! Sincerely, Jason (Bay Area Tecmo Affiliates) TSB NFL 1990 even teams.nes 1990 Draft.xlsx 1990 Draft Board_Ratings.xls
