  1. Man, this shit looks like it was pretty great. Well done to all you folks. Sorry I missed it.
  2. Can I get a recap???? Here's mine: 2-0! (3-0 unofficial) Even though I haven't touched the game in 14mon or so. Including a dramatic win from the 1 yard line as time expired. Yesssss! GM @bruddog did a hellava job. Most of all, it was great to see the homies again, even if it was just for a second. Sounds like you guys had a hellava night. Jealous! Also, excited to get the itch back, at least a little. Turns out Tecmo is still fun. Thanks a million, @turbohuna4eva!. That was a fun Tecmo get together.
  3. @~Tailback King~, What about all your P-Town homies? I mean, damn. They won't even have to borrow the Turtle Van to make this shit.
  4. Great, great write up man. I always look forward to your tourney reviews. I couldn't agree more about the crew up here. Great bunch of guys. We'll see you.... sooner than you think...
  5. This really was a great tournament. In many ways, it was your typical PNW experience - which is top(ish) notch Tecmo, with some over the top characters, delicious brews - and the best play by play man in (or out) of the business @~Tailback King~. But I gotta hand it to @DT. He didn't get as much support as he should have from me, as I was coming out of a summer haze, but he still found a couple ways to really put his stamp on the production side of the tournament. The format was awesome - it did cause some serious delays in the action at times, but otherwise was fun as hell. The prizes, and their reception were priceless (if only we had that @gripsmoke rejection on film!). I liked that we had a losers bracket ( I especially liked sending @gripsmoke's punk ass to said losers bracket), and the ROY award was a beautiful touch. Special shout out to 91 Huskies and the 6killer, for breathing some new life in the PNW. @moonwalk, you're a reeallll sonofabitch. But I'm sort of glad your long trip up here was rewarded. Maybe it would encourage others to do so. Congrats to you on the win. Lastly, and this is something I just want to throw out there - I don't want to wait until next summer to get together again. But I don't think it should be on @manyo360, myself or @DT. for us to get together. I think it's just about time that the Muthafukas down there in PDX threw their phukin' hat in the ring and tried to put something together. Even if it is small. We could Tecmo it up, check out a Blazers game...do what...ahem *Gentlemen* do in Portland...the possibilities are endless, and I think it's about goddamn time. Sheeeeiiiit. I'd even settle for a tourney at Ground Kontrol, as long as it wasn't on Sundays during football season. Cheers boys. See ya soon. -Ted
  6. That's right! The best is back again. Your boy @DT., has returned to his PNW roots and brought a fire in his belly to put on a hellava show. We're joining forces to bring Tecmo back to Sea-Town!!! Check out some details, with plenty of fun to follow. Mark your calendars. Start pushing that Escolade up the driveway, boys. The Place: Magnolia Village Pub (Seattle's #1 Sports Bar) http://magnolia-villagepub.com/ The Time: 11 am Sunday September 4th (The day before Labor Day) The Method of Determining the Greatest: Tecmo Super Bowl (greatest video game ever) Seattle is back as a premier TSB destination. This Labor Day weekend will be a summit for fans of the greatest thing to come out of Japan besides possibly Ichiro. A full-day affair is in store with a six round regular season followed by a single elimination playoff. Standard Madison rules will be the law of the land with a few Seattle-style twists TBA. This event will serve as a proving ground for anyone claiming to be top Tecmo dog on the West Coast, a destination for Tecmo enthusiasts looking for top competition and an excuse to visit the Emerald City, and as an opportunity to celebrate the rich culture of the game. THIS IS HAPPENING. Details to be rolled out in a timely manner regarding format, prizes, and potential side-events, but this will be the date. Get your calendars in order now! 1. SirTed 2. DT 3. 7. I'm in, if there is any question. Also, I mentioned it to Stu, and it sounds like he's gonna try to make it down, dunno if you've heard from him.
  8. Dammmmmnnnnn I'm getting so pumped for this shit. SirTed is bringin that A-1 game, and his wallet stacked billz for side bets galore. Iron sharpens iron? Maybe, but those barnacles and sea water destroy it all.
  9. Can't wait for July! that was a fun couple of days. I gotta get back on the ball and crank out another Pac-Rim. It's been tough to motivate though. Now that the PNWTC is at the compound, Pac-Rim at a bar just doesn't stand up.
  10. Sounds super dope. Fuck! I'm out. Got a new baby. Got tix to the Hawks the next day. Two consecutive days being MIA due to drunken debauchery is too much too soon. I should be in on the next one...
  11. Great write up, Kamp! I really dig your style with a game by game recap with the end screen. And now we have video? I gotta step up my recap game next tournament time. FWIW re: our game - I actually like the SD / Den match up, but it's one that I also feel like the other guy got some upper hand no matter which team I take. Fee me? It's a good one though. And the Hawks had nothing to do with the loss. It was the rare, totally earned Tecmo L, probably my only one of the day
  12. Hey! A few notes about this tournament - As always, it's great to see all my PNW brethren (minus a few notables). Also great to welcome a new member to our ranks officially. Bougart won his first tourney game as well. That's pretty impressive. I know we talk about it all the time, but we gotta find a way to keep this shit going throughout the year. Maybe not always on the same scale, but keep it going nonetheless. Also as always - Manyo puts on a hellava show. I don't monitor other tourney formats that closely but this one has got to stand alone in a number of ways. The use of match-ups across the board in each round of the regular season was an inventive touch. The love for # 29 was evident from the moment you walked through the door, and a lot of TLC went into this. Poster for the winner, figure for the record holder and cards for errrrybody was a great touch. Highlight videos on bigscreens, simmed tecmo season going on all the while. Audio and video streamed throughout? I hope many a listener enjoyed the screams of Ernie "Muuuuuthhhaaaphukka" Jones throughout the evening. We all did. TBK's play-by-play, especially of his own runs is second to none. Not to mention a machine with a special Colts on Colts game lined u As for my in game experience, a mixed bag. Started out hot, dropping Vader in back to back games (thanks to a Dickerson matchup). I then waxed TBK 35-0 in my called Jets / Dal Match up. From there it was pretty much downhill. I backed into the playoffs by losing to Manyo in a pretty good battle and getting carpet bombed by Grip 42-7 (my worst loss in PNW history). It was kinda sorta close in the first half, a huge JJ at half to Flipper put it out of reach, and Grip went for the throat after that. I won my first match up in the elim round against newcomer Bougart. Vikes / Was. It wasn't too close. Followed up by a completely deserved loss to Kamp. Can't remember the final score, but I remember thinking I was cool with it. This matched me up with Grip in the losers bracket. I wasn't feeling confident, but I won the toss and went to my go to match up, NYJ / Dal. Grip took Dal. This ended up being the worst screw job by Tecmo on me, maybe ever. I was in complete control of this game, multiple times, and each time, the rug was pulled out from under me. After getting a nice user pick with Clifton, I drove down and Blair Thomas fumbled on the 10. Ouch. I got another pick after a couple of plays though, drove down looking to score...and Thomas fumbled again. This time on the 1. I kept it close throughout though. Later looking to convert on a 4th down, Eason (in good) missed a wide open WR who was open for the 1st down, and likely the TD. Finally, down 4 points and on my final drive, I went on 4th again, at about midfield, and AGAIN Eason missed the TE who was in Ex for a 30+ yard gain. It was too much to handle, and I was officially eliminated from the action. But my night wasn't over! The Ted / TBK rivalry (PHX vs. Pit) had to be represented. What follows is a true accounting. There are witnesses to the following, super natural events: These games will forever in my mind be referred to as the "OFFICIAL" Johnny Johnson plays above his stats games - and Here's a Muthafukka for your trouble. TBK and I played a pair of Phx / Pit games, and throughout both, Johnny was held in check...that is, until a crucial 3rd or 4th down was needed, then he'd simply switch him to WR(1) and go up and snatch a JJ catch, for a 50yrd completion, or even TD. More than once on a guessed shotgun p3. With Rod lurking!!!. It didn't matter. The same went for Muthaphukka, who had 2, TWO! CC completions on Rod. Never doubt their powers again, or do, at your own peril. It's also worth noting that the 2nd win by TBK was aided by a safety, after he quietly kicked off while I was watching the Seahawks game (in true heel fashion). I never saw it. It was the difference in the game. I can't wait to get my revenge! I missed the championship game because I had to catch a ride to the train (thanks, Manyo!). I heard Kamp had to take 2 from Vader, but I'm anxious to hear the details.
  13. As of yesterday, my attendance became official. With this news, I'm reminded of Larry Bird at the 1986 3 point contest... "Which one of you guys is going to finish second?" That poster, that figure is mine. Have fun with the scraps, boys. See you on Saturday.
  14. Alright. One of you owes it to the Tecmo community to explain the nature of this relationship.
  15. DAAAAYUM. Now I feel like I can't miss this. Best prize to date.
  16. You talk a lot of shit. I don't think I've ever seen this Turtle Van for realz. Down rep until you make it a reality.
