  • Tecmo Super Bowl 2020 released

    The Tecmobowl.org yearly release is just hours before the first game of the NFL kicks off. Probably the most noteworthy item not in our notes is the change in the intro screen of Aaron Rodgers, Todd Gurley, and JJ Watt to Patrick Mahomes, Ezekiel Elliott, and Aaron Donald in addition to a recent Bill Belichick quote.

     

    In addition to ranking the glamour positions like quarterback, running back, and wide receiver each year this is a laundry list of updates which include

    • updating helmets
    • rating 160 offensive linemen
    • editing the simulation rankings for 800 players
    • editing the jersey numbers for 960 players
    • changing the pro bowl players
    • updating the playbooks and team simulation rankings
    • updating the schedule
    • burning through the rom to check for any crashing bugs

     

    It's a lot of hours but something I enjoy putting together each year with help where ever I can find it. I hope you enjoy it.

    Did the Bucs uniform colors change? Very difficult to tell who is who vs the Saints.

     

    And Taysom Hill is an important part of the Saints offense. If it were possible it would be very nice to have him on the roster instead of a 4th RB, WR or 2nd TE.

     

    No matter what though thank you for providing this enjoyable game!

    Rev 1 - Released Sunday 9/18/2019

    • Fixed some duplicate players
    • Revised QB sim formula
    • Moved Antonio Brown to Pats

     

    Rev 2 - Relased 9/11/2019

    • Fixed a couple of issues where the alt jerseys had green instead of white (Bears!)
    • Added Carlos Hyde to the Texans and converted them to a 1-2-2 look (forgot about him)
    • Changed the Denver starting running backs to Lindsay-Booker

    First off this is fantastic.  Truly enjoyable playing Tecmo Bowl with all of the latest players.  have attributes for indivual players beens visited. The reason I ask are the attributes for the Browns team is truly miserable.  Even proven players pro bowl players like Myles Garrett, Odell Beckam Jr, and Olivier Vernon have very low stats.  I was wondering if there is a way to edit on ones own or request apossible audit.  Thank you again for all of the hard work.

    As long as you don't edit the players in the NFC West this editing tool will work.

    I really appreciate the wonderful work you and everyone here at TecmoBowl.org does!  TSB was my favorite game growing up and now I can play it again with updates and enhancements, and have found a great group of people here that enjoy it as much as I do.  Hats off to you and everyone here who put in the hard work and time of updating this game each year and hosting the game tourneys.  Keep up the terrific work!

    This is a fantastic piece of work! However, I’m not sure how the uniforms came about. Most of them are way off from what the teams really wear. I went through and changed them all to the closest to each team’s home/away uniforms as possible. Also, there are a TON of uniform numbers that are wrong. Is there going to be another update? I’d love to help, as I’ve already made most of these fixes to my own ROM file.

    I can't say that I have gone through the uniforms very much for the last couple of years. As long as there wasn't any instances with the opposing teams having the same uniform I was pretty happy though I'd be interested in going through what you have. It's surprising to here there are a lot of uniform numbers wrong as i do methodically go through those.

    I love this game and really appreciate the work you guys put into this. It's inspiring, I'd like to tackle an EA NHL 95 in a similar manner, but I am borderline an idiot at these things.

     

    Question @Knobbe I'm running this (Vanilla, Version 0 and Version 02) through an emulator to play on a Gameboy (DSi & 3DS), this new version scrambles a lot of the graphics up, to the point where one cannot really play the game.. all the characters sprites are broken. ... Am I missing something or grabbing the wrong file?

    Should be the right file. As I do not have that device I'm unable to debug or troubleshoot. Perhaps if there is a different emulator or core that will perhaps work for you.

    Thanks.... Something must have changed in the TB files, the last download I had is 2016 and it works perfectly fine, other NES Roms work, it just appears that 2019 and 2020 do not... I have tried 2018 and 2017, something must have changed in how the information is handled between 2016 and 2017.

     

    So far I've used Moonshell and NESds... Any other suggestions?

    Yes the file format has changed. I have zero experience in gameboy emulation. 

    A google search though shows http://www.dwedit.org/gba/pocketnes.php or else here is another list https://www.zophar.net/consoles/nds/nes.html
