Tecmo Super Bowl is the greatest sports video game of all time. Now, 22 years after TSB made 8-Bit legends of Bo Jackson and Lawrence Taylor, TecmoBowl.org proudly announces the release of Tecmo Super Bowl 2014. This 7th yearly iteration updates Tecmo's NES classic with up-to-date rosters, graphics, schedules and play books for all 32 NFL squads.
Playable on multiple platforms and operating systems via NES emulation software, Tecmo Super Bowl 2014 brings Nintendo's bone-crunching classic to today's computers and handheld devices.
Can J.J. Watt create the chaos Derrick Thomas did in '91? Can Adrian Peterson match the legendary Bo Jackson? Who is the more deadly play-caller: Colin Kaepernick or QB Eagles? Loaded into an NES Emulator, Tecmo Super Bowl 2014 will make legends for the next 22 years.

Most TPC players use the original Tecmo Super Bowl ROM, but you might be able to find some people playing TSB 2013. Remember that the versions of the game must be exactly the same or you will not be able to connect.

In the last several months there has been an explosion of Tecmo Super Bowl action being pumped into the internet, both from tournaments and online play.
We, your fellow T-Borgers, have taken it upon ourselves to bring the TSB streaming scene to you front and center. We have setup a new page which automatically pulls the online status, preview image, channel name, game and number of viewers from each Twitch channel. You can then select which stream you would like to watch and go to a page for that stream.
Once you are on a stream's page, you can view the stream in full-screen AND have chat right here on TecmoBowl.org.

Cowboys host Colts for the Retro championship. Dallas gets the toss and kicks off to Colts. Kelly and backup Weathers get the team into Dallas territory. On a pitch out Weathers fumbles the ball away to Dallas.. Dallas moves into Colts territory. Colts defense stiffens and forces a 4th. Dallas kicks but Fletcher blocks the fg to give Colts the ball back.. Kelly and Weather get back to work and move into the redzone. on third down Colts pitch out to Weathers and he is stopped short of the first. Colts set up fg and convert, 3-0 Colts. Dallas gets the ball back with 2 minutes in the half left. Dallas pulls Armstrong and Rozier helps Dallas churn and move the chains. Colts defense once again slows the Dallas attack and with time expiring Dallas sets up FG unit. Once again Fletcher blocks the FG to end the half. Cowboys get the ball to begin the second half. Dallas behind Rozier and Wilson get into the redzone. a few picked plays force the Boys to 3rd and 10. Dallas gets picked on pass 2 and tries the JJ but Duerson tips it. Dallas settles for a FG and convert, 3-3 all... Colts get the ball and a solid return by Spek to put them on the 30. Kelly gets to work moving them to midfield. On on a third down Kelly runs towards chains but hits Moore for a big first down and into the red zone. Dallas forces a 3rd and short. On third down Colts hand off to Weathers on the offset and he breaks a tackle with some blocking to run it in and score first td of the game, 10-3 Colts. Dallas gets the kickoff and the return man is tackled at the 5 to set a long drive with 2 minutes left in the game. Dallas keeps it methodical and get it to midfield with time expiring. Dallas has time for one play and Wilson drops back with an open WR1 downfield and heaves its... to Duerson who picks it to seal the deal

In a 'better late than never' release, the 13th annual Tecmbowl.org Tecmo Super Bowl edition appears for the first time as a post-season release. While the rom itself features the typical OG-type ratings you've come to expect, some changes of note have been in updating the graphics and addressing a fairly unnoticed but longstanding issue.

There are a few complex helmets that have their own design pattern like the Bengals and the Rams. When the Jaguars came out with their gradient style helmet, the Rams pattern was repurposed for the Jags and the Rams helmet was drawn with the constraints used for most helmets. As you can see that while the 2005 version of the Rams' helmet does a good job of representing the helmet, it's at the cost of reducing the size of the Rams' horn.
With the Rams unveiling a new helmet and with the Jaguars dropping the gradient back in 2018, this offseason proved to be an opportune time to revert the special design pattern back to the Rams.
What you'll find is a design that attempts to mimic the symmetrical half circle curve of today's Ram helmet while expanding back out towards the edges.
One other longstanding yet seemingly unnoticed issue was the trivial detail of individual player positions not being remapped. For example, the 2020 Jaguars were updated to have a starting lineup that had 1 RB and 3 WRs. However, if you drilled down into individual players you'd find that it would pull up positions that didn't match. Thus, WR Dede Westbrook appears as a RB. This year the players are mapped correctly.
Look for the 14th release of this rom to once again be released in the preseason a few days before the first Thursday kickoff.
Over a period of years I managed to reverse engineer the entire Tecmo Super Bowl game into 6502 assembly source code with every piece of code documented and every variable labeled. There was a potential project in the works with said code but that project looks all but dead now. Because of that I am targeting the 30 year anniversary of TSB as the date I will publicly post all of the reverse engineered source code.

With Covid-19 hitting the US in 2020, annual Tecmo Super Bowl tournaments around the country have cancelled, which included the 13th annual Midwest Tecmo tourney. However, tourney founder Chris Vogt wasn't content to just wait until 2021 and audibled to an online 24 hour broadcast to continue to benefit former Cincinnati Bengal and Tecmo Great David Fulcher Foundation's fight against multiple sclerosis.
The interactive event will feature several scheduled blocks of loosely defined types of game play to expect as well as ample time for the audience to dictate the play. You won't want to miss the All Day Fulcher block featuring a rom where ever player except for the quarterback is David Fulcher. Be sure to check back in throughout the tournament as this thing is bound to have lots of twists and turns.

This is a post-draft edition. Most of the team rosters are accurate with the exception being uniform numbers on the Jets and Patriots. You will find the .ips patches used in this edit along with the set commands used in attached files. You can edit the Vanilla version with TSB Tool. If you want to edit the Hardtype version you are ok to do so with TSB Tool with the exception of the NFC West teams. Editing the NFC West teams will require you to download and edit the Vanilla version, then re-apply the .ips patches and hardtype set commands. Editing the NFC West teams can cause the game not to run correctly. Make sure to backup your files before making any changes!
