  5. Still at it, I'm going through a butt load of coding for the play tiles. More work than I thought it would be to have the tiles load according to who you have in the game. The way we are going to design plays is each play will have 4 (this isn't set in stone) different plays according to who's in the game. Default will be RB1, WR3, WR1, WR2 and TE1. The WR3 and TE1 spots are the spots that if you change, the formation will change with it. Put RB2/RB3 in the WR3 spot, it'll change the formation to a 2 back set and you'llsee the player line up in the backfield. Put WR4 in the TE1 spot. Will change to a 4 WR formation with all the players off the line. That part is done, now I need to load the tiles correctly when you do that. Fun times.

  6. Made some ground on a couple of the bugs still left, found locations and RAM locations, next week will be going through see why some might be happening, or how I can work around them. Also finished the coding for more alternate jerseys. Just a sample, but teams will have up to 8 alt home jerseys and 8 away jerseys.

In honor of the NBA finals I have come up with a 2023 end of season TNBA23 and STNBA23 ROM's. I am really new to ROM hacking and put together these ROM's using the Rabbit utility. Here's what I edited: -Rosters -Player Stats -Player attributes (as best as I could determine using stats online) -Jerseys The game play is pretty nice. However because I used the Rabbit utility and so when you try to SIM a season the SIM data gets all botched up and the usual last player on the roster scores all the points. So this version is definitely a prototype. I'm trying to research and find ways to fix this. If anybody has any ideas or help to fix this please comment and let me know. I have looked into it a little bit and have gotten some advice from others but still looking for more. The best way to play using this is to put all teams on COM and pick a team on MAN and use the FF option on whatever emulator you use. I have been able to get through a whole season in a few days to a week depending on time I have. I would love to combine with anyone to update this ROM to a full 30 teams and update all the logos and anything else. Hope you enjoy. Hit me up if you want to collaborate on this project!

  8. Gentlemen, the custom order frame for my TB12 cartridge is complete, and it is pretty baller if I do say so myself. It’s the pièce de résistance of this TB12 Tecmo Super Bowl rom journey. Whenever I release the next rom update, my goal is to also release the spreadsheets that I used to build the rosters. Some folks might enjoy looking more closely at some of those details.

  10. For one, it'll be Madden style. I am looking for a way to toggle between Tecmo passing and Madden passing. Some might want the old way. But we felt, as we speed up the game, the scroll was too slow. Our NCAA game was really hard to pass. Second thing, as of right now, the WR3 spot will change depending on what position is in that slot. So if you put a RB there, that player would instead line up in the backfield in a 2 back set. Put a TE and that player lines up in the TE spot. Same for the TE1 spot. Put in. WR and that player lines up in the slot. So one default formation will have multiple looks depending on who you put in the game.

  11. Not sure what you mean. Side note, we added snow and rain to the cutscenes. The original didn't have it for anything but the coin toss. We added it so that the weather effects show up during all cutscenes.

  12. Knocked 2 1/2 of the things off the list. Remaining items: Bug for the year end rewards - not working. Bug for returning from injury - I kind of know what is happening, need to rewrite the code to load the color palettes. Bug for in game player face flash graphics - not showing the right jersey for away players. Plays - This is a big one, but when we get enough, we will release a beta for playtesting and bug finding. Play graphics - depending on what we find, might be able to load tiles based on the players in the game Rosters - easiest part left, just waiting for a clearer roster picture for teams. Side stuff upgrades: expand the alternate jerseys Button over WR for the madden passing controls - 50% (Presnap done) expand the faces for players and created players

  13. Was able to test, still have a kink where the skin color didn't save correctly. Will need to reproduce. Updated the Team View and In Game face codes, seems to be working correctly now, will go through to make sure all the pallet info is correct. So close to getting this done. Will be so happy to be done with this last major hack. Should be smooth sailing after this. No new major coding needed, just creating plays, adding ratings and creating the rosters and working the play AI, but with that stuff we can release betas to work on those bugs. Will start a new thread dedicated to working that part with the community. Just know if we do, I will turn features off so that no one will profit from our work. I have a code implanted that will require people to download the save file posted with the Rom while polishing the plays and searching for bugs.

  15. I released this game almost 8 years ago. In that time, great players have joined the league, like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Lamar Jackson and Christian McCaffrey. It might be time to give other players like Bill Kenney, Fred Arbanas, Tony Banks and Rod "He Hate Me" Smart the boot. It might be time for an OFFICIAL update to Tecmo Super Bowl Gold (The Goldest Game!).

You know what to do (Download this!). I released this game back in 2015, however this time around, it is without the dreaded "12th man super-scorer" glitch. Nine years after its initial release, this has been fixed. As of today, this the first (and only) college basketball game on the NES (until I put out a follow-up in the next year or two). All the team logos, uniforms, and courts have been modified to reflect their college counterparts. SimData has been modified to reflect typical college basketball scores (Scores of 75-70 are the norm). There are 27 teams in this ROM. The team selection was partially based on what teams were hot in 2015, and historical significance (see attached screenshot). This provides for effortless future updates. For the sake of realness, it is HIGHLY advised you play a season with a SHORT schedule (26 games). This closest reflects a regular season of college basketball. This ROM is the best of its kind. You would be a fool NOT to add it to your collection. This is one of MANY games that I have on my BaronGaming.weebly.com and Patreon.com/BaronGaming sites, most of which you won't find anywhere else. The site is currently being renovated, so please mind the mess.

    Weather effects

Found the weather flag last night that is checked for a few things Its it $025F in memory 0x80 = rain 0x40 = snow 0x00 = clear When you dropback for a pass you have a 0x10 (16/256) chance of slipping in the rain and a 0x18 (24/256) chance of slipping in the snow. If your QB, defender or punt returner (need to double check the last one) gets tackled in the rain or snow their fumble chance is 0x10 (16/256) vs 0x0c (12/256). So far that's the only weather effects that I'm finding.

  19. This thread is intended to be just a spot for the TSB fans to follow the process of the our TSB4 rom project. Here we will post each stage of converting the season from 30 teams / 6 divisions to 32 teams / 8 divisions. We will post coding we may need help on, updates on the status of certain codes, screen shots and videos. Stage Titles will be in "red" until completion. Once the Stage is complete it will be in "green". At some point the betas will be released in this thread. Something like this has not been tried on this site, and seeing as me and my brother (Hurricane55) are going in uncharted SNES waters, I thought this would give everyone a basic idea of what we do as we edit this game and maybe get some help on parts we might be stuck on. I will try not to jump around, but if we hit a dead spot, I will move to another section until I can figure out what ever issue we might have. This should be a great guide once we are done. The hacks we will need to do will pretty much cover the processes of hacking text, mapping sprite locations, and data adding(we will have to add 2 division to be selectable in menus). Also, I still have some cutscene hacking to do, and once you edit one cutscene, you'll have an outline of how to hack the remaining. I will be adding individual spreadsheets for backgrounds and cutscene sprites when I get to those edits. I'm going to try and keep this thread as nice and orderly as possible for easier navagation for future edits. This is not a thread for questions about when the game will be done, when is the beta to be release, if I can give you a copy of the rom and so on. This is strictly for people to either check in on the progress of the project or who can help with coding. Once a beta is released, if you have questions about how we did something I will try to do a write up on it. I will include locations, screenshots and what tools were used. I will be using this thread as a guide for showing others how to hack each process as I go. (The curtain has been pulled back!!) As it gets further down the line, if you have an idea of what could be added or if you don't like the look of one of the screens, feel free to voice your opinions. Also, when the beta's are released, you will post your comments here. (A new thread will be created and linked here when the first beta is released) Any bugs, glitches or freezes will be posted here also. Thanks in advance and let's get the journey started: At some point the final release and updates to the final release will be attached to this post.

Although my spreadsheets argue that the Patriots players are the stoutest, the general playing experience is better balanced by dropping speed values a bit. 1.0.5 update: RB - Corey Dillion RS from 38 to 31; MS from 69 to 50 WR - Wes Welker MS from 63 to 56 WR - Troy Brown MS from 56 to 50 WR - Julian Edelman RS from 44 to 38

  23. hello everyone, good night, how are you? my name is raphael and i'm from brazil, and i'm developing some editing tests in this rom, because i'm a fan of this game. First of all, I'm new to this forum and would like to share a breakthrough I made in the game Tecmo Super Bowl 1 on Sega Genesis. I was able to change the graphics of the small helmets. in this case I only changed the one for the Tenesse Titans and the Whasighton Commanders.... now the next step is to try to update these helmets in their bigger and more detailed version... Below is an image of the edit that was made. I used the 22/23 season hack available on this forum to develop these tests. The next news I will inform here in this topic. thanks and sorry for my poor english.

  25. The SuperTec Bros SNES 2023-2024 Tecmo Super Bowl will be released just prior to kickoff (7 September 2023) in a dual ROM configuration with the following features: * Three sprite variants consisting of Classic Sprite Plus (CSP), Comic Book Outlined (CBO), & NES Hybrid (NES). 1. CSP sprites are very close to the original; however, they have been altered so they resemble their large muscled-up, cut-scene counterparts. Additionally, the field turf has been simplified with a two-toned pitch so the sprites do not blend in with the turf. 2. CBO sprites are outlined in black featuring the OG field turf. These sprites were designed for those who have issues with color vision or appreciate smooth animations without the sprites fading into the turf or other background assets. NOTE, the 2023 version have been redesigned with more fluid animations between frames. 3. NES Hybrid sprites are the simplified 8-bit version; however, each team has white socks and dynamic shadow effects so they match their respective cut-scenes. A single gradient field is available for all weather conditions as well. * New title screens and Intros have been redesigned featuring modern NFL players. NOTE: final versions are subject to change depending on player/team transactions. * Mini Helmets (MH) & Large Helmets (LH) have been modernized and redesigned. Any non-essential shading has been removed to improve contrast so images are more defined. NOTE: BAL & TB’s LHs do not depict their accurate logo as the tiles could not be modified to accommodate the appropriate number of slots to create the image. As such, the logo has been improvised with a logo from their back catalog. * Background/Menu screens have been changed to black. * Menu drum music loop has been removed. * Full 17 game schedule. * Regional weather is accurate. No rain or snow in dome stadiums. * Uniform matchups are now accurate eliminating clashing jersey colors. * All endzones (EZ) correspond to team woodmark & match team colors/actual NFL EZ. * Hacks added: Stats between quarters, COM QB Finds Open Receiver, 4th Quarter Punt Logic (COM will punt up to the 2 min warning then go for it), Late Season COM Def Coverage, and Full Juice versions available. PHOTOS ATTATCHED 1. CSP Sprites 2. CBO Sprites 3. NES Sprites 4. R1 Title Screen 5. R2 Title Screen 6. R1 Minis 7. R2 Minis 8. AFC LHs/Woodmark 9. AFC EZs 10. NFC EZs 11. NFC LHS/Woodmark

  26. Great news... I discovered how to change player names and abilities in the September version of Tecmo Super Bowl 1 on Sega Genesis.. Now I can edit the hack and still use the cartridge battery to save the season's progress. and I can also use TSBM2000, as a basis for creating player data... but to apply it to the final rom with save, I first need to save it in the rom without save, which accepts being edited by TSBM2000, and then just copy and paste the data to the version with save and adjust the offsets to start the skills. at offset 00004060 we will have the value of the beginning of the organization of the player name offsets (this TSBM2000 will do for us automatically) it will take to offset 00005862 - which is the organization of numbers + player names. at offset 00004064, we will have the beginning of the players' skills, and this value that is in this offset must be adjusted according to the end of the players' names (because in the edition, the number of characters of the players' letters will inevitably be greater than the original, but This doesn't cause a problem because we have plenty of space in the ROM for that)... important warning, when tsbm2000 exports the data it does not place a division between the end of the names and the beginning of the skills. and this creates a problem in the version of the rom with save... and to solve this it was necessary to map where the difference was, Luckily it was just at the end of the names... the last name will always be that of the last DB of sf49ers, then you need to put an FF in the code and then paste the skills that come from TSBM2000. It seems complicated, but it's actually quite simple... First, map the numbers and names of the players and then the skills... and take it from the rom that allows it to be edited in TSBM2000 and then put it in the version that has the save. at offset 00005862, starts the mapping and the number and name off the players... (you can copy and paste form the rom edited o TSBM2000), after the end od names, insert the cod FF, then paste the codes os TSBM2000 for the players abilitys. from the FF up (Yellow, is the number and name of the players), from the FF down (Blue, are the players' skills) Well, I was successful in making these edits, now I'm going to work on making all the changes I had shown in previous posts now in the saved version, and when I'm finished sharing the results again here. hugs and happy new year holidays to everyone. This is jus to demonstrates that the edit works (i will change the Oilers to Ravens on the final version os the hack)

  29. new update !!.. helmets changed to current designs... ok there are some errors... example charger has a blue grille and not yellow... because it is linked to the colors of the bears helmets... so it turned blue... However, I think the end result is very good.... what do you think??... as it was done based on an original version... the team names are still old... this will be the next step... See you soon!! 😃🖖🙌 tECMO SUPER BOWL - INTRO CAPACETES ALTERADOS.mp4

  30. Hello people good night... After a while I'm back here to demonstrate another update on the Sega Genesis Tecmo Super Bowl 1 hack..... basically what was done was to replace all the helmets on the selection screen with the team logos... what do you think? it looks different 😃 The next steps will be editing the big helmets... I found a big oilers helmet... but editing is another complicated task... lol...

To kick off the start of the 23-24 NBA season I am releasing my NEW Super Tecmo NBA Basketball (SNES). Here's are the details on what is edited: -27 teams (Missing Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzilies, New Orleans Pelicans) *NOTE-I am currently working on versions to add these teams by replacing other teams. Will add update when done! -Rosters (includes top Rookies for this season) -Player Stats -Player attributes (as best as I could determine using stats online) -Jerseys -Logos -Home Court Arena names The game play is great! I recommend playing this by putting all teams on COM and putting the team you want to play with on MAN. Then use your emulators Fast Froward option (almost all emulators have this option) to move through all other games. If you play the game with every team on SKP the stats will get all messed up. Only the last player on every bench will score the points. (I'm trying to figure out how to fix this but have had no luck so far. I believe this is because I used the Rabbit utility to edit rosters.) I am still relatively new to ROM hacking which is why there are some things in the game I do not have completely updated. I would love to combine with anyone to update this ROM to the full 30 teams and fix the things that are still not correct. Hope you enjoy. Hit me up if you want to collaborate on this project! programs used: HxD, Rabbit utility, yychr

  35. Well, my dudes! This Sunday, 9/10/23/, I'll be releasing: 🐐🏈 TB12 Tecmo Super Bowl - Hall of Fame Edition 🏈🐐 ~ 31 rival teams facing off against The Greatest of All Time ~ Thanks to everyone who's helped to make the past 9+ months a memorable time building this project. I first thought of making this rom two years ago, after it looked like TB12 was going to retire. Since his unretirement, I had been loosely plotting design elements through in my head over the course of his final playing year. I began actual work on the rom as soon as it was confirmed that TB12 was going to stay in retirement this past offseason. Thanks very much to @SBlueman for helping to gather resources in this thread, and acting as a friendly community rep when I started this process. Sometimes that kind of positive energy can help to motivate action! I started by focusing on building out a series of spreadsheets to preserve and transform NFL player stats into TSB roster attributes, and to eventually compare against OG TSB roster attributes. Huge, huge thanks to @bruddog for building all kinds of super useful tools and documentation to help build a TSB rom. I created a very basic structure for how I would select Tom Brady rivals, which seems to have worked well enough. I spent the majority of the first several months exclusively on choosing, rating, and building roster attributes from the wealth of player data that I had accumulated in said spreadsheets on the actual NFL players. After creating a draft of the rom's opposing rosters, I began modeling the attribute sets after OG TSB rosters. I've made very subtle tweaks here and there to extend the caps of certain attributes, but only in very select circumstances. The roster attribute tables are very much in the realm of OG TSB. I wanted to rate and score the other teams before selecting and grading the Patriots roster; I wanted the Patriots to be built around the other teams’ attributes. It took around 8 months of part-time work to build these rosters. I'm sure there are tweaks here and there that will help, but I've spent more time on these rosters than any previous rom that I've released. I spent August working on graphics edits and installing minimal hacks, which was a lot of fun. I had never previously given myself so much time to make graphic edits, and it was a real treat. Being able to take a scan through the large and small helmets, and making sweeping changes was totally worth it. I think it's all looking real slick right now. Thanks to @jstout for popping over! Always glad to have him come around. With help from @Knobbe , I installed Jstout's awesome 4-3 formation 32-team edit, which has been incredible to see uniquely applied to teams across this historical rom. With the Defensive team data screen edits, and the on-field change, it's the perfect amount of upgrade from OG TSB's experience to represent an evolution, but still very much in-line with OG gameplay. There may be a tweak here or there in a blocking assignment or RB route that could be made, but this hack is the juice. Awesome stuff. This TB12 Tecmo Super Bowl rom has been a long time coming, and I'm proud of the work that has gone into it. It's been a nice swan song for the past 20+ years of watching Tom Brady absolutely dominate the NFL, and the related Tecmo Super Bowl projects that I created purely from the motivation of watching the 2000-2020 New England Patriots football team. Tom Brady is the one true football QB GOAT, and I wouldn't have spent my time on this unless that was a fact. There's a very good chance that I'll make a "Pro" version of this rom in the future. Bruddog and others have made some incredible hacks since I regularly visited these forums a decade ago or so, and I'm excited to see what kind of advanced experience can eventually be created. But that'll be for the future. Until then... Thanks, everybody!! 🐐🏈

  36. Will do, also, not sure if I ever posted this before, there are 2 places to change the jerseys for each team. Before exhibition, the jersey you choose for each team becomes their default jersey for the home or away. The second spot is the new Team Control menu. Still want to add some things here, like the ability to change a teams defense, offense and a coaching rating that will be used with our impact ratings. The gradings are a place holder and will be replaced at some point. Pretty sure I could come up with a way to actual keep the gradings up to date with changes you make, but that is more of a if I ever get time, right now we are focused on getting the plays coded to a point where we can release a beta.

  37. Throwback Alt Uniforms? Why not?
    3 points
  38. Yeah, there just wasn't enough old jerseys to use. Teams like Dallas, Green Bay, Las Vegas will have less than 16 also. I might take creative liberties for some, but some just don't have much to work with. But when we drop the rom, we'll include the jersey locations for people to do what they wish.

  39. Let's just put this right here... Still have some coding to do after the snap. This will fall into our new ratings, the icons, if I can get it all figured out, will stay above the players heads, but depending on your QB coolness rating, when the QB runs around, the icons have a chance to disappear while the QB is moving. This should help differentiate Upper tier QBs from mid to lower.

    (SNES) TSB Editing Guide

The attached document provides relevant guidance for editing various aspects of SNES TSB. I will periodically edit various portions of the guide as my Tecmo Bro (Richard Young) & I make new discoveries as we produce new ROMs for you folks to play. If you find any discrepancies, please email me and I will correct ASAP. Additionally, if you want to share anything not contained within the guide, please email me & I will incorporate the information & credit you with the entry within the document. Hopefully, this information will help all SNES TSB enthusiasts with their special projects while simultaneously collocating all hacking documentation in a central location as a lot of info is somewhat difficult to locate in each thread. 3 points
  47. So close to getting the Created Player face hack done. Sort of fixed a major bug with the ratings for CAPs, I know what's it's doing now, just need a place to insert a code to fix it. But as long as you don't go into the ratings part, back out and go back in, it works fine. The Impact rating will reset if you do and screw up the code I inserted. Next big bug is that the game is not recognizing CAPs skin color. I back tracked to an earlier rom, the one I first inserted the player faces in and it was doing it then. So it is something else that happened before, which CAP was never checked when I was coding as we weren't sure what we going to do with it. I think I have narrowed it down to 2 locations, will troubleshoot it and hopefully figure it out soon. After Created Player is done, all that is left is the following: creating rosters creating roster ratings updating some team information (Mostly done, but will go over it to make sure I didn't miss anything) create plays After launch additional stuff if time permits: add 42 new faces work on the playoff seeding create a 40 team NCAA game... wait, that was supposed to be a secret. Hope no one is reading this! Edit: Found the byte to fix the skin color read. I misunderstood a compare byte. Really close now to finalizing the Created Player hack!!
