Is an 18 week schedule possible in Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES?

So with the NFL moving to a 17 game schedule we now have an issue when it comes to editing yearly roms. Is there a way to have an 18-week season with (1) bye for each team?

But how would you go about adding a week and the games? This and the 7th team in the playoffs are big curveballs to putting together an edit that at least is true with the schedule & playoffs. 

 

Lastly, if this can be done, can it be added to the 32-team rom and editable with TSBTOOL? I guess that's a question for @BAD_AL.

The 7th team in the playoffs is a much more massive change due to all the graphical changes and there isn’t enough save memory to accommodate  the additional scores and teams without a massive change like eliminating some stats that are tracked.

TBH I don't think i ever noticed there were dates.  I've certainly never changed them.

The 7th playoff game was a pipe dream anyway. So what would it take to have an 18th week in the game? I have been scouring the site and can't seem to find any post describing a way to do this.

There are couple different places that reference the total weeks in the season that need to be fixed. One is used to calculate when teams have clinched the playoffs. Another is used to know when the games are playoff games. Probably a few others I’m not thinking of.

 

Then an extra week needs to be added in the actual schedule by adding a pointer to the week. The actual date and schedule and then the number of weeks in the schedule section gets increased.

So I got 95% of the hack done but there is another hack related to the schedule display right after where the extra schedule stuff needs to go.  It's a pain to fix the last 5 % without the enitre rom being rebuildable since i need to move that around to make room for an additional week of games in the rom. And then a bunch of stuff has to be shifted

Sounds intense. Will the updated rom still be editable in TSBTool? You are doing some amazing work @bruddog, it just seems like the game is reaching the limits of what can be done with it.

Spitballing here but is it possible to display 17 games in a week, maybe just week 17?  if so, it's possible to fit all the games in 17 weeks if you eliminate the bye and have teams double up once

Answering before looking but I think the result is the same since the total games wont  fit in the allocated space

I can't tell if you guys are making progress on this or not.  but definitely pulling for you all to get this new schedule issue figured out!
