Unlocked Historic Players' Abilities

Hi!  Huge TSB3 fan.  At one point (circa 1996) I unlocked the historic players after winning 3 consecutive Super Bowls with the same team.  I made a spreadsheet with each players' abilities mapped out.  I lost my file over time.  Has anyone else mapped each player and their abilities?  I would love to have this again.  Thanks!

DE 0 G Colts is probably Gino Marchetti, #89 (or 76). Art Donovan never played in the modern (Super Bowl) era, all the others did. It is, after all the name of the game. Marchetti barely qualifies as he played his last season during the first season of the SB era ('66). Art Donovan retired after the '61 season.

It's Art Donovan.

What you need to realize is that this game was put together by a Japanese company that was sourcing stuff in the 90s.  There has been a guy or two on here that was in contact with Tecmo because they wanted to bounce stuff off of an American football fan. In the 90s Art Donovan was famous well beyond football, appearing in commercials, Letterman, etc. That's the reason a guy before the Super Bowl era is on this game.  Also note that DIck "NightTrain" Lane is in the game. Lane played his last game in 1965.

Ha! You're absolutely right. The "Larcenous Lion" did retire in '65. I didn't catch that one. Art Donovan it is.

Thanks for the info!

I am playing with a Sega Genesis system. I ran through 3 seasons in a row with the same team winning the Super Bowl but it didn't unlock the Historic Players.

I have seen players refer to siming the games/season, but if you do it with every team on skp apparently it doesn't work. I don't want to play out 3 seasons to unlock this. What am I missing here?

Site is back online so I can finally answer this, I'm not sure if the Genesis version has the Historic Players, but if it does, you have to win 3 super bowls playing as the same team.  A cheap way I usually use to do it on SNES is save before every season, sim through the regular season and the playoffs, and play the super bowl with whatever team you want to go with (Usually 49ers or Cowboys), the season doesn't matter, all the game cares is that you won a super bowl controlling that team.  Repeat until you have 3 SB wins with the same team and they'll be unlocked.

I found you don't even need to control the team.

I see that this is from the snes version. As both 16 bit games have slight differences in their stats. For an example as Dave Casper has a 75 in receptions on the snes and a 69 on the genesis version. Randy White has 38 ms on the snes and a 50 ms in the genesis version. In these situations as I want to make my 1995 nes rom version I would combined the highest stat between both games going in much like my 1993 rom with the 16 bit tsb and tsb 2 1993 season.

the genesis version u dont have to play with a team just to win 3 straight super bowls to unlock the greats. the likely hood is the a.i. mustve swapped the all timers when u started your season over. as the genesis version the a.i will swoop up the greats quickly. snes version there is a cheat code to get 999 fa points to acquire any free agent without limit. now if only the genesis version can also get that and the snes version could finally have a cheat code to get any trade without fail. both versions would be perfectly editable.
