NFL 2018-2019 Season Discussion

^ Literally the only play against the Patriots worth remembering as a Chargers fan from yesterday's game. Kudos to Rivers for the look-off.

"Everyone thinks we suck." ~ The G.O.A.T. post-game

There are few things I enjoy more than watching all of the prognosticators continue to get taken down by a living legend. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick persist in making fools of many in the sports media, and a few outspoken members of this forum. I'm willing to mail a box of issues to anyone whose team was ousted yesterday.

Can this Patriots team beat this Chiefs in K.C.? Don't know about that. But I'm going to have a good time watching the game. And if they do win, you can fully expect I'm going to be on this board, in this thread, trashing all of the fools who have earned it. You know who you are.

@gojiphen malor , your emotional state before Eagles at Saints:  Describe it

@Bodom , your emotional state before Chargers at Patriots:  Describe it

@kamphuna8 , your emotional paradigm before Cowboys at Rams ...  Deconstruct it

@TecmoSuperFan , your emotional state before Colts at K.C.:  Transcribe it

Thank you

(But happy new year.)

I'm sorry I failed. I was full of giddy anxiousness. And nervous. But mostly excited for the spectacle. I could practically smell the cannabis through the TV (or was that coming from somewhere else?)

Aghast at the gashing is the best I can describe now. The Ringer described how the Rams O Line were thoroughly more prepared to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting Cowboys D Line, and the 273 yards rushing... well it hurt. #Hurting

Glad they came back, needed one more stop, and boom, Goff with a carry on a 4th down and longer than 3 or 4 to seal it. Where have I seen this before? (Think 2015 Cal UW game, Goff helps Cal upset the Huskies with a QB Keep on 4th and like 4?) BOTH EVENTS SUCKED CAL'S BALLS

Whoever calls the OT coinflips for the Pats should end up in their HOF. Brady 3-0 in those situations and the other team never got the ball.

That would be Matt Slater.

I hear he calls "heads" everytime, because that's what his dad (HOFer, Jackie... former - 20-year - RAMS OT) did.

Speaking of HOF, though, there should be some kind of a "special" HOF, for Special Teamers;  because, younger Slater would surely be in it

I just-noticed that 11-year veteran, Matt has already equaled Pops in Pro Bowl nods (7) & overall All-Pro selections (5)

^ Ok?

Do you think the Pats defense was going to stop the Chiefs in OT?  Seemed pretty unlikely. Winning that flip was a big deal!

Remember, this article dropped BEFORE the Conference "Championships:"

https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2019/01/18/cbs-super-bowl-patrios-v-rams-rams-patriots-ratings/

Here, I came across this interesting Monument:

https://www.debate.org/opinions/is-the-nfl-rigged/arguments/CADF552D-BB3E-4047-878A-D8A97D8B52CA

(Never knew that anybody else - besides myself - was intriggued, to say the least, by the timing of New Orleans' 1st SB Win, post-Katrina; and the "Patriots'," post-9/11... till now.)

Some thoughts

- What a shame it is that Home-field "advantage" is only so for some teams. Because, it obviously wasn't for either K.C or N.O. Better luck shooting for a #2 seed next year. (Nah, that's not it)

- The "NFL" thrives on controversy; so, the non-call on a certain Nickell's obvious pass-interference and helmet-to-helmet infraction? They actually welcome the "fall-out" (attention) from that

- RAMS1PATRIOTS1

This is supposed to be "entertainment"!? I won't be tuning in; and no one I know will. Bore U.S. off our ass, nfl !!

Congratulations to Tony Gonzalez, Ty Law, Ed Reed, Kevin Mawae, Gil Brandt, Pat Bowlen, Johnny Robinson and Champ Bailey on their induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame!

And also, congratulations to the youngest NFL MVP, the very first KC Chief to do it. PATRICK MAHOMES!

No Issac Bruce or Tecmo great Steve Atwater. You just have to wonder if they would have given him better stats in Tecmo would he have been more of a legend and a couple more votes would have gone his way....

Week 2's now in the books.  Now it's time to pick the Week 3 games.  I'm gonna follow schedule from Tecmonster's 2018-2019 rom from now on, so here's what I've got:

New York Jets @ Cleveland Browns
New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons
Green Bay Packers @ Washington Redskins
      Indianapolis Colts @ Philadelphia Eagles
      Buffalo Bills @ Minnesota Vikings
      Oakland Raiders @ Miami Dolphins
      Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens
      Cincinnati Bengals @ Carolina Panthers
New York Giants @ Houston Texans
      Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
San Francisco 49ers @ Kansas City Chiefs
Los Angeles Chargers @ Los Angeles Rams
      Dallas Cowboys @ Seattle Seahawks
      Chicago Bears @ Arizona Cardinals
New England Patriots @ Detroit Lions
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

      So come on in!

      @gojiphen malor

      @Miles Prower

Also, for future reference, if you don't specify who's going to win by game time, it counts as a loss against you.  If you honestly cannot bring yourself to guess right away, you have until the games start to come up with a winner.  Or you can be the gutsy one and call a tie.

Anyways, I'll make my picks later.  I need to think about my choices before I settle on anything concrete.

Time for Week 2, everybody!  Here are this week's games:

      Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals
      Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons
Los Angeles Chargers @ Buffalo Bills
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
      Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans
Cleveland Browns @ New Orleans Saints
Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets
Kansas City Chiefs @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
      Indianapolis Colts @ Washington Redskins
Arizona Cardinals @ Los Angeles Rams
Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers
      Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos
New England Patriots @ Jacksonville Jaguars
New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys
      Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears

      Make your picks!  Here's mine!

Ravens, Panthers, Chargers, Packers, Texans, Saints, Jets, Chiefs, Eagles, Redskins, Rams, 49ers, Broncos, Patriots, Giants, and Bears.

Survival pick for this week would have to be the Saints or 49ers.  A lot of tossup games this week as well.  Though the biggest question mark is the Packers.  If Aaron Rodgers is ruled out for the week, I'm gonna change my pick to the Vikings.

Edit:  I changed one of my picks.  Instead of thinking the Falcons will win, I am now leaning more towards Carolina.  Hopefully, I don't regret that pick.  And since Aaron Rodgers is back out on the practice field, I am still leaning more towards Green Bay.  But if he ends up getting ruled out tomorrow, I'm gonna change my pick to Minnesota.  Everything else will be left as is.
