2018 Rookies and 2017 No Play Player Ratings? Advice needed.

Hi All,

Quick question. This coming season is ... "interesting"... as far as big name players coming back from injury (Carr , Peterson in particular) and for one HUGE name coming out of retirement (Lynch) as well as a few interesting rookies (mostly Fournette :)). Now my question is, how do you guys rate them? For instance , Lynch hasn't played for a year or more, and was injury prone before he left. I believe you can't rate him as highly as before? AP, also... he could be as amazing as before... BUT I find it VERY unlikely (age and he is joining a pass heavy team). Fournette, could repeat Zeke's rushing performance but statistically most rookies stats drop coming into the NFL, which is understandable.

So how do you guys deal with rating (for a ROM naturally;)) players like rookies and last season no shows?

God Bless,

MartinFN.

If I was doing the ROM, I would rate Lynch and Peterson according to their prior glory.  It's a game, so have some fun with it.  If you look at Bo Jackson and Christian Okoye, two Tecmo legends, none of them had numbers that were consistently world-eating, but they ended up as Tecmo legends.  If AP and Lynch were legends before, they're still the same person, so no reason to de-legend them

Again, this is if I was rating.  As for the rookies, speculation is fun.

Depends on what type of rom you are going for...more realism or more arcade style. In the end its up to you. Me I'd probably drop Lynch and Peterson down due to their age. Carr will probably be fine.

Rookies do whatever you want. Certain positions have less of a learning curve than others (RB's usually do well right away, other skill positions typically take at least a few seasons). It's a lot of guess work considering how many players totally bust or get hurt.

Which is why I never liked making pre-season roms because the rosters are constantly changing and there is much more guess work. Like If i went and played a 2008 pre-season rype rom its gonna be weird to see Brady on it when he ended up being injured the whole season among  other things that will look weird.

Thanks Guys,

I agree that a pre-season ROM is never very accurate, Bruddog. I'm just excited about seeing Lynch in action (hopefully). Personally keen to see some of the "bad" teams rub the critics noses in their success (once again hopefully).

God Bless,

I try to make the ROM more realistic. Obviously the factor fun must be in there, and at the end with the return of Lynch I probably gonna rate his attributes much like a regular FB with a little more speed, but not like it 2013.

The rookies are a mistery. If you look to Clowney he suppose to be a sack machine and injuries changed that. Goff was a complete deception for the Rams and no one thought that Prescott would have so good numbers.

At the end I´m very cautios with rookies attributes, and thats the reasaon I release the version at the beginning of the season and a final version after the SB with accurate attributes.
