GBLAN is proud to present the inagural event of the TBAA(Tecmo Bowl Amateurs Association) during the Big LAN 7 event May 29th-31st 2015 in Green Bay, WI.  While not the main focus of the event, it will be a welcome cherry on top of another one of our epic LAN parties.  This will be our first event of 2015, and we've been doing events since 2002.  The main LAN Party theme is EA's Battlefield franchise, so be prepared for large doses of Battlfield 1942, Desert Combat, and Battlefield 2.  Seating is limited, so get in on this while you can.

Please visit to register for the event.

IMPORTANT: This is an amateur event.  While having the likes of a Madison Chet or Mort participate would be cool, we aren't trying to get the best of the best here.  I did throw up a hail Mary pass to Chris Jacke, and I'm pretty sure he isn't coming.  This is intended to be a semi-regional event to spice up our long and storied LAN party event history.  We are not handing out cash prizes, but we are giving away prizes for the winners of the QB Eagles(winners) bracket, and Frank Reich(2nd chance) bracket.  We all love TSB, and gaming in general, and we hope you will join in the fun with us.

Here are the rules for the Tecmo Tournament

Tournament registration takes place in person starting at 4PM CST on Friday, and continues until 9AM CST on Saturday.  The Tournament begins at 10AM sharp on Saturday.  The # of participants determines the format.  We will either move to a single and double elimination bracket format if participant numbers are strong.  We would like to have the entire tournament wrapped up by 4PM.  There will be no less than 5 legit console setups for tournament play, and there may additional stations for practice, including emulated stations for general NES fun.

If participant numbers are light, we will randomly draft participants into divisions similar to the actual NFL, and have them play each other, advancing the division winners and losers into separate playoff brackets.

The basic rules of matching making are aligned with typical tournament setups.  Thanks to #tecmomadison for not making us reinvent the wheel.  We have minor insignificant tweaks. While we aren't Nazi's, don't be surprised if we kick your chair or knock off your hat for being a tool by ignoring the following:

1) Team/Side Selection....Flip a coin, winner picks two teams, controller side, or defers, other player picks a team.  As the teams selector, you cannot pick the same pair of teams more than once in the tournament, so choose wisely!

2) Don't put a TE/WR in the RB slot(Andre Rison Rule), they can only run in a reverse play

3) Don't lurch with defensive lineman(Bob Nelson Rule)  Either engage the offensive lineman directly and grapple, or try to run back or around them.

4) Feel free to customize your playbooks and lineups of the team you've inherited prior to the match up.  Please limit the "change screen" modifications.  The general rule is once per quarter.  If it's 4th down with the game on the line, do what you have to.  We don't want these games to last forever(or do we?).

5) Ties suck and sprinkles are for winners.  We will restart the game if your game truly makes it through overtime without a score.  First score in OT wins, even if it's a field goal.

6) The only thing older than the Nintendo hardware is the staff.  If stuff breaks, we the staff will make a decision on how to proceed..  Typically if it happens in the first half the game is restarted.  If it happens in the 2nd half, only the 2nd half is replayed.  If the game is well out of hand, we reserve the right to name a winner.  If you hit reset/power or yank the controller to cause the situation, you will probably get disqualified from your game, an and you may owe us for a replacement Nintendo, so don't do it!  :)

7) We have a lot of controllers, all Nintendo licensed square units.  Do not bring your own!  If you have a germ phobia wear gloves and get a life.  Ebola is not a threat in TSB, LT is.

 Don't fiddle with the consoles, load your own games, blow in the cartridges, etc.  If you have a malfunction, inform the staff and they will respond when they feel like it.

9) This is a family friendly event, meaning some of us old folks have our minions with us, and they may be participating.  Please watch your language.

10) Be a good sport, and have some fun!

Thanks for the help Knobbe....

Update, we are now in posession of 10 CRT TV's 25" or larger, and nine toaster style NES systems, plus one top loading famiclone.  All of the controllers are legit Nintendo.  Should be able to get the field many games in for the dollar.  I hope many of the folks on this board can make it.  Don't forget to RSVP and prepay!

Thanks,

So does this mean that if I win the coin toss, I can pick my controller, then the other player picks the teams, then I pick which team I want??  Does it work like that?  Because for every game there are those 3 decisions: 1) pick teams, 2) pick controller, and 3) pick team to play with.

Thanks

@ hankthetank, if you prepay via the paypal link, yes you can pay $20 instead of $25.  Prepay ends after Memorial Day.  The event actually starts at 4PM on Friday, but the TSB portion starts 10AM on Saturday.  Watch

for a general event breakdown from me.  I hope you will come to enjoy more than just the TSB portion.  We have a great time playing Battlfield 2, and Desert Combat, amongst other computer games.  Don't forget to bring your computer for that portion of the event!

Also, don't forget to signup via Facebook to let us know you are coming.

@Slow N Sloppy, If you pick the controller side,  the other player has the choice of selecting the matchup, or can defer the matchup selection back to the other player and select one of the two teams.

I wanted to mention that although this is billed as an amateur tournament, that doesn't mean that high level players aren't welcome.  Any veterans that wish to further promote TSB to new blood are more than welcome.  We have a winners and losers bracket to fight for.  Someone has to win this thing after all!

I've made contact with a certain former Packer's place kicker.  Lord knows that would be cool to have him there to present our trophies.  Now the waiting game to see what his terms are.

Say a little prayer for me!

1st game MIA 42 at Rams 7

2nd game WAS 28 at MIn 14

Semifinal HOU 31 at BUF 15

Final KC 7 at CHI 0

I played Jesse before at Tecmo Tundra 2 I beat him 35-7 despite this he went 3-1 in pool play and I went 2-2 the fact that he beat primetime in the last game of round robin meant i didn't make the playoffs and he did.  I got the return and drived down the field for a score the got a INT on the first play on defense then I went for it on 4th and 3 around the 50 gained around 30 yards before fumbling.  He returned the ball in the 2nd half and drove the entire 3rd quarter.  I stopped him on 4th and goal at the 3 he called Run 3 which was gaining a few solid yards with Muster and so did I.  He got the ball again in the 4th with around 2 minutes left but he didn't get very fair as he and the Bears are a running team.

Here are the links to the games that were streamed.  Yes we have rookies here for the most part, and they all had an absolute blast.  Some might even be addicted.
